In the past, Seol-Hui learned marital art from Oh Hyun. Oh Hyun promised her that he will protect her from danger. As Seol-Hui was going to marry with a high-ranking official, Oh Hyun made up a plan to help her to escape. Unfortunately, the guards seem to know their plan. They killed Oh Hyun in front of Seol-Hui. Seol-Hui was sad and she did not wish to marry with a high-ranking official. She stabbed on his neck and later killed herself.

Oh Hyun’s soul has been waiting for Seol-Hui for so many years. He was unwilling to give up and continue to stay. As time passed, he has forgotten her face and her name. The Deity has no other choice but to punish him for his crime. The Deity turned him into grim reaper, Kok-du. As a grim reaper, his job is to lead dead spirits to the after world. He also has to listen to the complains of human when he returned in human world. In order to stop the complains, he shall kill those people who deserve to die. In order to lift the curse, he must find the Seol-Hui and she has to say she loved him.

Every 99 years, Kok-Du comes down to this world and possess a human body that looks just like him. This time, he comes to this world and possess human Do Jin-Woo’s body. He then gets involved with Han Gye-Jeol.

Han Gye-Jeol is a doctor who graduated from the lowest ranked medical university. She is intimidated by people who look down on her credentials. Due to the case where she failed to stop the client from being transferred to another hospital and caused the clients passed away. She has been sued by the daughter. It happened that the daughter was the landlord of hospital. as she fought with the landlord, the hospital has no choice but fired her. 

Han Gye-Jeol cleared all her belonging and left the hospital. While she was leaving the hospital, she coincidently met a guy who saved her from falling down the staircase. However, she did not get the chance to talk to him. She found a necklace with a ring on the floor. She believed that it was belonged to that man. She asked her brother, Han Chul, for help. He was a police officer. 

Han Gye-Jeol faced difficulty in looking for a job. She later got an interview from Pilseong Medical Center, Seoul. She was surprised when she finally met the guy, Do Jin-Woo, who saved her. Pilseong Medical Center’s doctors disliked Han Gye-Jeol due to her background. However, Do Jin-Woo insisted to hire her.

Han Gye-Jeol  thought Do Jin-Woo has feeling for her. She later found out that Do Jin-Woo was looking for evidence to clear his name on malpractice cases. Han Gye-Jeol   did not want to get involved because she did not want to get fired anymore. Do Jin-Woo persuaded Han Gye-Jeol to stand as witness to sue Chairman Kim Pil-Soo for swapping the medical report and caused the death of his mother. Do Jin-Woo assured that he will protect her.

On the day, Han Gye-Jeol and Do Jin-Woo were supposed to meet each other at the court. Han Gye-Jeol  unable to get him. She decided to went to his house to meet him. Suddenly, she saw someone fall from the building. It was Do Jin-Woo. Han Gye-Jeol  was totally surprised and tried to rescue him.

Kok-Du comes down to this world and possess a human body that looks just like him at that time. Kok-Du tried to kill her but he has been stopped as Ok Shin and Gak Shin. He then left the place with them. Han Gye-Jeol  tried to look for him in every hospital because she worried about his condition. However, none of the hospital has any record of him.

Chairman Kim Pil-Soo found out that Do Jin-Woo was trying to sue him, so he asked Tae Joong-Sik to kill him. Tae Joong-Sik told him that he was unable to find his body which is misery. Chairman Kim Pil-Soo also put up a notice to held a disciplinary meeting with Han Gye-Jeol. Han Gye-Jeol was in difficult situation because she could not find Do Jin-Woo anywhere. With the help of Han Chul, she managed to find him in Yeongpo.

Kok-Du was surprised to see Han Gye-Jeol. He tried to kill her but he was unable to. He wondered why. He believed that she has soften his heart. Han Gye-Jeol realized that he has amnesia. However, she tried to persuade him to come to the hearing in order to clear her name. Kok-Du came, but he ruined the meeting. Han Gye-Jeol was angry and scolded him. She asked him to kneel and apologized to her. Surprising, Kok-Du cannot control his leg and it automatically kneel before her. He then asked her whether she was Seol-Hui. Han Gye-Jeol denied it right away and told him not to follow her.

Kok-Du wondered why his body obeyed what Han Gye-Jeol told him to do. He checked at her room and found her sleeping on her bed. He looked around and saw her photo with her mother. He recalled that he made a promise with her mother to spoil her and do everything for her. That’s why he has to fulfill his promise.

Due to the incident, Han Gye-Jeol has been fired from the hospital. She was desperate to find a job. However, none of the hospital willing to accept her due to her past records. Her friends also looked down on her. One of her friends asked her to find her ex-boyfriend, Jung Yi-Deun for a job. Han Gye-Jeol hesitated because she did not want to meet him. In order to take care of her, Kok-Du offered her a clinic to work and a house to stay with one condition – she has to date with him for 3 months. Han Gye-Jeol accepted his offer. However, she decided to take out some loan to pay 100,000 won to him because she did not want to date with him. He also asked Gak Shin to work as a nurse for Han Gye-Jeol.

Every night at 9.09pm, Kok-Du will start hearing people complaints. He will start killing human for the sake of the victims. He killed a man in the hospital. He kept his body into the refrigerator. He left the hospital with a car. He hit  Han Chul’s car. Han Chul chased him until he came to an alley. Kok-Du left the car and disappeared. Han Chul was surprised about it.

One day, Han Gye-Jeol and Kok-Du was outing at night. It was 9.09pm that night. Kok-Du asked her to stop the car immediately. She was surprised. Suddenly, Han Gye-Jeol hit a man. However, she could not be able to find the body. She wanted to ask Kok-Du but he disappeared. She reported the case to the police. She believed what she saw, but none of the policemen believed her. The next day, Han Gye-Jeol asked Kok-Du why he left her in the middle of the road.

Kok-Du believed that she was Seol-Hui. He tried to set a date with her. With the help of Ok Shin, Kok-Du persuaded Han Gye-Jeol to have a dinner with him. Ok Shin prepared everything for Kok-Du. It turned out that Tae Jung-Won came in first. She hugged him tightly. Kok-Du wondered who she was. Then, Han Gye-Jeol came in. She told Kok-Du that she needed to talk to her and she will give him a call later. Tae Jung-Won warned Han Gye-Jeol not to steal her boyfriend. Han Gye-Jeol explained that Do Jin-Woo has lost his memories and he cannot recall his past.

The next day, Kok-Du came to the clinic to see Han Gye-Jeol. He asked her why she did not give him a call. Han Gye-Jeol told him to regain his memory and settle his relationship with Tae Jung-Won before they seeing each other. Kok-Du told Han Gye-Jeol many times that Do Jin-Woo will not come back anymore. However, Han Gye-Jeol believed that he was still a sick person.

Han Gye-Jeol and Kok-Du found the victim, Park Chung Seong. She was surprised that he was alone in a house. Suddenly, Jung Yi-Deun showed up and stopped her from sending to the hospital for treatment. Kok-Du told her not to involve with him, but she decided to listen to Jung Yi-Deun.

Kok-Du asked Han Gye-Jeol out again. He convinced her to hang out with him when she was free. Han Gye-Jeol was free that day and asked him out for picnic at the lighthouse. She prepared all the food and waiting for him. Gak Shin was pissed off with Han Gye-Jeol because she disliked how she clingy on Kok-Du. She answered on his behalf and deleted the message.

Tae Joong-Sik  received an order from Chairman Kim Pil-Soo to kill Han Gye-Jeol. They saw her name card at the house and believed that she was treating Park Chung Seong secretly.

Han Gye-Jeol was attacked by Tae Joong-Sik. She screamed and asked Kok-Du to rescue her. Tae Joong-Sik pushed her into the sea. Kok-Du heard her from his house. He quickly jumped off into the sea and rescued her. Han Gye-Jeol suddenly called Kok-Du as Oh Hyun. He confirmed that she was the woman he was looking for. Kok-Du came back home and scolded Ok Shin and Gak Shin for deleting his message which nearly caused Han Gye-Jeol died. After listening to them, he decided to forgive them.

Han Gye-Jeol reported the case to the police. Kok-Du also offered to find the attacker. Tae Joong-Sik personally came to Han Gye-Jeol’s clinic. He pretended to be the CCTV installer to check on her clinic safety. He placed the CCTV at the corner to record everything in the clinic.

Jung Yi-Deun apologized to Han Gye-Jeol for his breaking up with her. Han Gye-Jeol did not want to be looked down by him. She told him that Do Jin-Woo was her boyfriend. She praised his achievement and his personality. Jung Yi-Deun then spread the news to other villagers. When they confronted with Kok-Du and Han Gye-Jeol, Kok-Du ruined everything. He denied that he was Do Jin-Woo and he has lost his memory. Han Gye-Jeol was so embarrassed to face them.

Kok-Du and Han Gye-Jeol hang out at the lighthouse at night. Han Gye-Jeol asked Kok-Du to disappear and yet he went back to the underworld. She was surprised when she saw him collapsed right in front of her. She tried to wake him up and realized that he has no heartbeat. She kept calling him to come back. Kok-Du finally came back. He warned her to watch what she said. Han Gye-Jeol promised that she will not tell him to disappear ever again. She sent him to the clinic for treatment. Suddenly, Ok Shin came to bring Kok-Du home. Han Gye-Jeol was surprised that they were brothers. She was glad that she met Ok Shin because she brought his company’s shares.

Tae Jung-Won did not give up easily. She tried to reach Do Jin-Woo, but he refused to answer her call. Kok-Du wanted to know more about Do Jin-Woo. He went to his house and found his diary. Do Jin-Woo was a detailed person. He kept his everyday records in his diary. When Tae Jung-Won tried to test him, Kok-Du covered his lies with the help of Ok Shin. Han Gye-Jeol and Tae Jung-Won fall for his lies. They believed that he has recovered his memories.

Park Chung Seong has recovered. He was looking for Do Jin-Woo. Jung Yi-Deun told him that Do Jin-Woo has lost his memory. Park Chung Seong insisted to meet him because he found some evidence against Chairman Kim Pil-Soo. The day before the court hearing, Do Jin-Woo made a promise with him to meet him at the court. Unfortunately, he heard Do Jin-Woo committed suicide the next day. He could not believe it and thought someone tried to murder him. Therefore, he stayed hidden.

Park Chung Seong came to Han Gye-Jeol’s clinic to look for Kok-Du. She told him that she will bring Do Jin-Woo to visit him. She gave him a call. Kok-Du told her that he was at hospital right now. Kok-Du took this opportunity to tell Tae Jung-Won that he wanted to break up with her seriously. Tae Jung-Won could not believed it and left the hospital. Han Gye-Jeol came to the hospital to talk to Kok-Du about his memory on his mother’s death. Kok-Du has no recall on this incident. He quickly shifted the focus on the patient. The patient suddenly experienced some difficulty and required to perform surgery. As the hospital in chaos state due to fire, there was no doctor who can perform surgery on the patient. Han Gye-Jeol did not has experience on surgery as well. Kok-Du tried to avoid this because he was not a doctor either. Kok-Du tried to escape with Han Gye-Jeol to save their lives. However, Han Gye-Jeol insisted to perform surgery to save the patient first. She kept asking Do Jin-Woo to come back. Kok-Du collapsed. She was nervous and tried to wake him up. When he awakes, Do Jin-Woo asked her where were they.

Han Gye-Jeol told him that they were in emergency room. Do Jin-Woo performed the surgery and saved the patient. He also scolded the doctors for neglecting their patient in the surgery room. Han Gye-Jeol realized that Do Jin-Woo became another person. He asked her what was the date. He also told her that he only has memory where they were about to go to the court. She was shocked to hear that.

Han Gye-Jeol temporary let Do Jin-Woo stayed at the clinic for the moment. She also told him about what had happened during the past 40 days where he lived as Kok-Du. Do Jin-Woo has no recall about who Kok-Du was. He tried to contact Tae Jung-Won, but she refused to talk to him. Han Gye-Jeol tried to explain to him about what had happened between them. Han Gye-Jeol was frustrated and confused because she could not believe that  Do Jin-Woo’s personality changed dramatically. Do Jin-Woo went back to Pilseong Medical Center to meet Tae Jung-Won.

Han Chul found the CCTV footage of ambulance which captured the footage of Kok-Du. He came to the hospital to look for Tae Jung-Won. Tae Jung-Won denied that she met Do Jin-Woo before. Suddenly, Do Jin-Woo showed up in the hospital. Han Chul brought him to police station for investigation. Do Jin-Woo denied that he murdered a person. When Han Chul showed him the CCTV footage, he could not be able to explain what had happened. He remembered that Han Gye-Jeol mentioned about his brother, Ok Shin, so he told Han Chul that he wanted to meet him. Ok Shin sent his lawyer to release Do Jin-Woo from the police station.

Ok Shin asked Do Jin-Woo about his condition. Do Jin-Woo told him that he knew that Ok Shin and Gak Shin are not human. He kept hearing bells when he was around him. He also recalled that he was meeting his mother in the underworld. Suddenly, Han Gye-Jeol called him and he went back to his body. He also knew that there was a man who possessed him. He stated that he disliked dogs and pork. However, the man in the CCTV was in opposite.

Kok-Du was back in the underworld. He could not be able to enter Do Jin-Woo’s body unless Han Gye-Jeol called for him. He also did not want to miss the time because he has to wait for another 99 years before he came to the human world. He asked Ok Shin and Gak Shin for help. By the way, Do Jin-Woo also could not live long.

Gak Shin gave a smartwatch to Han Gye-Jeol. She set the password as: Please come back, Kok-Du. Her intention was to make her call Kok-Du back. Besides, she also placed a mirror in her office. These mirrors are in pairs. Kok-Du in underworld can watch what had happened in the clinic. Do Jin-Woo knew that Gak Shin was also not a human. He also knew that the mirror was not an ordinary mirror. He talked to Kok-Du through the mirror that he will not let him possessed his body ever again. He will also stick to Han Gye-Jeol so that she will never summon him again.

In order to erase those memories of Kok-Du, Do Jin-Woo replaced his table with a modern one. Gak Shin and Han Gye-Jeol were surprised and upset at the same time. Han Gye-Jeol also cannot withstand his personality whereby he kept looking down at poor people. She started to miss Kok-Du. Do Jin-Woo apologized for his rudeness.

Han Gye-Jeol looked for the old table that she bought for Kok-Du. Because she left her wallet in the clinic, so she went back to the clinic. She found her clinic was in a mess. There was a person attacked her. Luckily, Do Jin-Woo came in and saved her. It turned out the person was her patient. She tried to steal the screening report. She was afraid that she could be fired due to her health condition. Han Gye-Jeol thanked Do Jin-Woo for saving her. He told her that he was suffering personality disorder. He reminded her that Kok-Du was not real.

Park Chung Seong met Do Jin-Woo at the clinic. He asked him about the list that he gave him. Do Jin-Woo denied that the list has something to do with Chairman Kim Pil-Soo. He also asked him to leave. Park Chung Seong was disappointed and left. Han Gye-Jeol worried that Chairman Kim Pil-Soo might sent someone to kill Park Chung Seong. She asked Do Jin-Woo to look for him. However, Do Jin-Woo refused to.

Gak Shin reminded Do Jin-Woo that he did not have much time left. He also sensed that his body was not in healthy condition. He refused to give up his body. Tae Joong-Sik planned an accident to kill Do Jin-Woo. He saw Do Jin-Woo passed away and it was confirmed by the paramedic. He was surprised when he saw him came back alive again. He also shocked when he saw him disappeared right in front of him. He told Chairman Kim Pil-Soo about it. Chairman Kim Pil-Soo did not believe him. He showed him a video and warned him to be careful of Do Jin-Woo.

Han Gye-Jeol retrieved the old table from the recycle centre. She kept calling for Kok-Du to come back. Kok-Du finally came back to Do Jin-Woo’s body. He teleported to Han Gye-Jeol’s house. As they talked to each other, she felt that she was talking to Kok-Du. However, Kok-Du denied that. He was testing her to find out her true feeling towards him.

Han Gye-Jeol received a call from paramedic. He gave her a bag that belonged to Do Jin-Woo. The paramedic described how Do Jin-Woo came back alive and there was snowing during summer. She recalled that Kok-Du experienced the same thing. She was very excited. She proved to Kok-Du that who he was. Kok-Du admitted. He also warned her again to watch what she said. He also told her that she was the one who summoned him to back and for from the underworld.

Kok-Du found Park Chung Seong in an abandoned area. He read his suicide note. However, he believed that Park Chung Seong was murdered by someone. Kok-Du discovered that Chairman Kim Pil-Soo has placed CCTVs in her clinic. It seemed like Chairman Kim Pil-Soo knew everything happened in the clinic. He destroyed the CCTV and teleported to Chairman Kim Pil-Soo’s office. Chairman Kim Pil-Soo prepared in advance by calling Han Gye-Jeol to his office. He wanted to offer her a job. In fact, he was trying to use her because she was his weakness. Kok-Du tried to kill Chairman Kim Pil-Soo for manipulated the medical record. However, she stopped him and prevent him from getting closer to Chairman Kim Pil-Soo. She hoped that Kok-Du do not live in regret by murdering someone. She hoped that he can do that for her. Before she confessed to him. Kok-Du kissed her. He did not want to leave in peace at the moment because he wanted to protect her. Han Gye-Jeol suddenly fall asleep. Kok-Du carried her home. He stayed with her until she woke up. Han Chul realized that his sister hid a man in her room. Han Gye-Jeol refused to tell him who he was. Han Chul made it clear that she can date anybody except for Do Jin-Woo.

Kok-Du was excited after hearing that Han Gye-Jeol  loved him. In order to spend more time with Han Gye-Jeol, he suggested her to move in and stay with him. . Han Gye-Jeol refused it right away as she thought that he wasn’t sincere. With the advice from the villagers, he has to make effort to win her heart. Han Gye-Jeol brought Kok-Du to see a doctor to cure his illness. However, Kok-Du refused to be hypnotized. Han Gye-Jeol  get hypnotized instead. Kok-Du took this opportunity to ask her what did she think about him. She claimed that she tried to avoid him because she afraid that he might run away from her just like her previous relationship.

As the news about the death of Park Chung Seong was in connection with Chairman Kim Pil-Soo manipulated the medical report bloomed in the social media, Chairman Kim Pil-Soo looked into other ways to sway the public attention to other stuff. He targeted Bulwa Group. He released the news that Do Jin-Woo who was Bulwa Group’s inheritance was suffering mental disorder. Kok-Du knew that it was Chairman Kim Pil-Soo’s doings. He threatened him not to touch Han Gye-Jeol or else he will suffer in pain in underworld.

Ok Shin was sad due to the news. He worried about his company. He asked Kok-Du to move to Seoul in order to cover the news. Kok-Du has been persuaded and agreed to move in. He also demanded the interior design should be the same as his house. Kok-Du also used this opportunity to make Han Gye-Jeol stay with him. Han Gye-Jeol was disappointed as Kok-Du left Yeongpo. She missed him so much. After watching the news about Kok-Du being sent to hospital for treatment, she quickly rash to hospital. She has been convinced and decided to move in with Kok-Du.

Han Gye-Jeol was scared of her brother because Han Chul disliked Kok-Du. She lied to him that she was going to Seoul for work. She also insisted him to stay in Yeongpo. Han Gye-Jeol was surprised when she saw Gak Shin came out from Kok-Du’s house. She was glad that she was there. However, Han Gye-Jeol worried about her relationship with Ok Shin. Ok Shin warned her not to touch anything in his house.

Han Gye-Jeol and Kok-Du made a contract before they moved in. Han Gye-Jeol stated 3 things and Kok-Du also stated 3 things in their contract. He saw her birthday was in last September. He wanted to celebrate for her. Ok Shin asked her how did she celebrate her birthday in the past. She told him that she usually celebrated with her family. When Kok-Du said they should invite her brother to come over. Han Gye-Jeol stunted and refused to. Kok-Du wished she could introduce him to her family. Han Gye-Jeol hesitated because she knew that her brother did not like him. Kok-Du was furious because she refused to introduce him. After talking out with Ok Shin, she decided to give it a try. She called Han Chul out and introduce Kok-Du to him. Han Chul was angry and dragged her back to Yeongpo. Han Chul told Han Gye-Jeol to be careful of Do Jin-Woo. However, she insisted that he was not a bad person. Han Chul tried hard to look for evidence.

Jung Yi-Deun called Han Gye-Jeol. He wanted to meet her and Kok-Du. He mentioned that he saw the list and met Jang Mi Soon before. He also mentioned that he has been threatened Chairman Kim Pil-Soo to accept the clinical test and helping them to advertise the hospital. Even though he refused to accept, he has no other choice.

Han Chul kept looking for Tae Jung-Won. He hope that she can cooperate with him so that he can know more about Do Jin-Woo. She refused to say anything. One day, Tae Jung-Won was threatened by her father, Tae Joong-Sik. She asked Han Chul for protection. Han Chul worried about her safety when he was away from Yeongpo. She was attracted to his charm. However, she refused to show her feeling to him.

Do Jin-Woo checked the list left by Park Chung Seong. He discovered all the person in the list passed away. He decided to reveal the truth to the world as Do Jin-Woo at the police station. Han Chul also brought the witness, who just woke up from coma, to the investigation room to point out who was the murderer. As the witness tried to point Do Jin-Woo, Han Gye-Jeol stopped him and scolded her brother for illegally collect the evidence. Kok-Du followed Han Gye-Jeol out from the police station. She was surprised when she saw him in the bus. Kok-Du was happy when she said she was going to his house. Han Gye-Jeol took this opportunity to check the wardrobe whether did he hide the weapon there.

Han Chul came back to Yeongpo. He tried to contact Tae Jung-Won, but she was angry because he failed to show up. Han Chul made his effort to meet her. Eventually, kissed him on the street. He was happy.

One day, policeman gave Kok-Du a call to collect his car. Han Gye-Jeol afraid that Han Chul was going to catch him. She insisted to follow. It turned out that the witnessed pointed out another name. Before that, Kok-Du has already hypnotized the witness in to believing another person who murdered the man. However, they had a small fight whereby Han Gye-Jeol thought that he was a bad person who murdered bad person. She even tried to look for evidence in his house. Kok-Du was angry that she did not believe him. In order to overcome it, Han Gye-Jeol asked her brother to apologize to Kok-Du in person. Han Chul apologized to Kok-Du and offered to treat him with dinner.

Han Gye-Jeol went to the hospital to clear up her assignment. She was going to pick up her brother there as well before they headed to the restaurant to meet Kok-Du. However, Han Gye-Jeol has been tricked by Tae Joong-Sik. He put something in her drink. When she collapsed, he kidnapped her. Han Chul drank that drink as well. When he asked the nurse who was Doctor Choi, the nurse told him that there was no Doctor Choi here. Han Chul realized that something might happened to his sister. By the time he went out of hospital, he saw his sister’s car and she was taken by a man. Han Chul quickly contacted Kok-Du to inform him about this. They managed to stop Tae Joong-Sik. Kok-Du sent Han Gye-Jeol to hospital via teleport. Han Chul collapsed before he managed to catch Tae Joong-Sik. Tae Joong-Sik took this opportunity and escape.

Kok-Du saw Han Gye-Jeol who was worried about her brother in the hospitall. Kok-Du informed her that he has awake, so that she does not need to worry about him. Han Gye-Jeol expressed that she would break down if anything happened to her brother.

Kok-Du found many evidences of Chairman Kim Pil-Soo who committed corruption, sexual abuse and etc. He handled over the evidences to the police. He also visited Jung Yi-Deun, who was drown in the swimming pools. He quickly saved him. Jung Yi-Deun was his brother in previous life. Kok-Du treated him well and even offered him to stay at his house. Han Gye-Jeol was surprised and wondered why he reacted in such a way.

Han Gye-Jeol was angry when she heard Ok Shin mentioned about Kok-Du, who was going to disappear after 20 days. She left the house angrily. She forgot to bring her phone and wallet. Kok-Du followed her and dropped some money and also get a taxi for her. She went to Yeongpo to see her brother. Unfortunately, Han Chul was having a date with his girlfriend, Tae Jung-Won. He tried to distract Han Gye-Jeol so that she can escape from his house. The next morning, Han Gye-Jeol came back to Kok-Du’s house. She was surprised that he wasn’t in the house. She kept looking for him as she afraid that he might disappeared.

Kok-Du brought Han Gye-Jeol to a shop to buy some decoration and accessories. He gave her a ring as a proposal. Han Gye-Jeol was excited and happy. At night, Han Gye-Jeol saw the message in Kok-Du. Han Chul has been kidnapped in an abandon building. Kok-Du went there together with Han Gye-Jeol. When the building was exploded, Kok-Du used teleport to escape from there with her. Han Gye-Jeol was surprised when they came to another place. She was shocked to see Kok-Du’s injuries cured by itself. She was afraid of him.
