Set during the Dan dynasty era when Ghost, Demons, and God's are involved in human life, Ha Sung-Jin who was a shaman performed a ritual to remove the Demons from King Yeongjong’s body and locked it up inside the painting. The King requested the painter, Hong Eun-O to draw his portrait. With the help of God Samshin, they successfully hided the Demons into the painting. However, the Demon cursed Ha Sung-Jin and Hong Eun-O’s offspring. It also cursed the country for drought and famine.

Hong Cheon-Ki, daughter of Hong Eun-O. Her mother passed away after giving birth to her under the tree of God Samshin. God Samshin rescued her from animal attack. She became blind due to the curse of the demon. God Samshin was pity towards her condition, so she decided to find a right guy for her.

9 years has been passed. The country suffered drought and famine as mentioned by the Demon. Ha Sung-Jin’s son, Ha Ram has the energy of water. He managed to find the source of water easily. God Samshin found that Ha Ram is perfect for Hong Cheon-Ki. Therefore, she gave him butterfly to protect Hong Cheon-Ki. Hong Cheon-Ki like to paint. She used to go to the painting academy and listen to the teacher’s teaching. She enjoyed using his hearing ability and imagine the image. Ha Ram was impressed with her charming. Royal Shaman Mi-Soo found out that he was the son of Ha Sung-Jin. She wanted sacrifice his son so that the country no longer suffered from drought and famine. Ha Sung-Jin tried to stop the ritual but it was too late.

Grand Prince Juhyang, Lee Hoo has been obsessed of power. He went to the place where they keep the painting of his late grandfather. He heard a voice calling for him. He burnt the painting and let the demon free from it. The demon looked for the symbol with butterfly. It happened that the butterfly symbol was inside Ha Ram. The demon entered into his body when the ritual was performed. Before that, God Samshin purposely gave Ha Ram the butterfly so that the demon was locked inside his body. God Samshin also took away his vision and gave it to Hong Cheon-Ki. Hong Cheon-Ki was happy that she has regained her vision.

A few years later, Hong Cheon-Ki has grown up as a beautiful lady. She learnt painting at painting institution. She worked hard to earn money to support her father’s medicine. However, she has been tricked by the doctor and Jung Shwen-Nae. She was really upset about it. She wanted to take revenged against him. Jung Shwen-Nae has been caught by for selling fake painting to people. Soon after, he has been released from the prison.

Hong Cheon-Ki then hid inside Ha Ram’s sedan chair. Ha Ram heard the voice of Hong Cheon-Ki. It kept reminding him about the little girl that he met during his childhood. He also saved Hong Cheon-Ki from being chased by and Jung Shwen-Nae. She couldn’t recognize Ha Ram. Suddenly, Ha Ram felt extremely strange about his body. He asked her to leave quickly in the forest. The Ma Wang in Ha Ram has been awoken. Ma Wang found his eyes in Hong Cheon-Ki. God Samshin and Ho Ryeong prevented Ma Wang from killing Hong Cheon-Ki. Ma Wang also killed several Royal guards.

Hong Cheon-Ki was shocked when Ha Ram fall from the tree. She took care of him for the whole night. The palace sent Grand Prince Yangmyung to investigate the case. Grand Prince Yangmyung met Hong Cheon-Ki at an old house. She thought he was pretending to be a Prince and teased Grand Prince Yangmyung as if he was the prince, she will be the Princess Consort of Grand Prince Yangmyung. Hong Cheon-Ki was ashamed when she found out it was true. She quickly hid herself.

Grand Prince Juhyang also investigated the death of the Royal Guard with Mi-Soo secretly. Mi-Soo knew that it was done by Ma Wang. Grand Prince Juhyang wanted to find Ma Wang badly because Ma Wang left a scar on his body. He also wanted to take over the throne by assassinated the Crown Prince.

Grand Prince Yangmyung was expert in literature and painting. He was going to held a painting gathering event. Hong Cheon-Ki wanted to join the contest so badly. She wanted to win the contest so that Grand Prince Yangmyung can grand her a wish to treat her sick father. However, Choi Won-Ho locked her up to complete her unfinished task. Suddenly a man with power opened her door. He was looking for his painting. Hong Cheon-Ki handled his painting and took this opportunity to attend the contest. Jung Shwen-Nae stopped her from entering the contest. Ha Ram came by on time, and allowed her to join the contest.

Grand Prince Yangmyung held this painting gather to find the divine painter as requested by the King. The King wanted this painter to redraw the late king’s portrait. Grand Prince Yangmyung also wanted to take this opportunity to find the copycat painter.

Hong Cheon-Ki together with her friends to join the contest. In the first around, the Grand Prince Yangmyung found out Hong Cheon-Ki was the one who copycat the famous painter’s painting. He straight away failed her despite her drawing skill is outstanding. Hong Cheon-Ki could not understand why the Grand Prince failed her. therefore, she stood up and asked for the reason why he failed her. Before the event started, Choi Won-Ho told Ahn Gyeon about Hong Cheon-Ki. She was the divine painter whom descendent is Hong Eun-O. Other judges tried to convince the grand prince to let her pass. Suddenly the butterflies flied to her painting and sticked to the paper. Ahn Gyeon directly gave her a pass for all. She was so excited about it.

Hong Cheon-Ki overheard some other painter who gossiping about Supervisor Ha. She wondered why everyone called him water demon. Grand Prince Yangmyung asked Supervisor Ha to give the title for the second-round contest. After hearing the title, Hong Cheon-Ki wondered if he was Ha Ram. She decided to ask him after the end of the contest. The second round of the contest, they were asked to draw mountain and rivers. For each participant, all of them have to explain their drawing in order to get better marks. the Grand Prince Yangmyung asked Hong Cheon-Ki why she colored the river in black rather than white. She told him that she was blind initially, after she gained her vision, she saw the color of the nature for the first time.  The judges were touched by her stories and let her pass.

At night, all the six finalists gathered at the bouquet to have a meal together. Hong Cheon-Ki wanted to ask Grand Prince Yangmyung whether will he grant her a wish but she hesitated to ask him. Grand Prince Yangmyung talked to her in secret. He admitted that he knew she was the copycat painter who copy the drawing of famous painter. He also hoped that she can demonstrate her sincerity in her drawing rather than just skills. Later, her headmaster met her and asked her to give up on competition. He did not want her to become just like her father.

Hong Cheon-Ki was upset. Ha Ram heard about Hong Cheon-Ki from her friends. He then looked for her everywhere. He found her at the stable with his horse. Hong Cheon-Ki told him about everything about what Grand Prince Yangmyung and her headmaster think about her. Ha Ram consoled her and said that she should not give up on her dream and what other says was out of her control. He also said the same thing like what he told her during childhood. Hong Cheon-Ki was surprised about it. He then took her for a ride. After a short conversation, Hong Cheon-Ki asked as if he was Ha Ram that she used to know. She was unable to forget about him. Ha Ram kissed her but suddenly he had a huge headache. He saw the Ma Wang inside him. When he awoke, he denied that he was Ha Ram. He wanted to protect her. He also sorry about the kiss. He took her back to have a rest. Hong Cheon-Ki knew that he was Ha Ram, she could not understand why he refused to admit. However, she believed that he had a reason for it.

For the third around contest, Hong Cheon-Ki’s drawing was outstanding. Although she was asked to draw a horse, she only drew butterfly. Grand Prince Yangmyung really amazed by her drawing. She won the majority of the judges. Grand Prince Yangmyung used the top 3 drawing to conduct an action activity. Ha Ram bought Hong Cheon-Ki with the highest bid. Hong Cheon-Ki was touched for it. She also asked Grand Prince Yangmyung whether will he grant her a wish. She wanted a medicine from the palace to treat her ill father. Grand Prince Yangmyung finally understand why she joined the contest and also made a living by copycat the painting. Grand Prince Yangmyung granted her the wish and she was really happy about it.

Ha Ram wanted to take revenge against those who killed her family. He knew that Grand Prince Juhyang was behind the assassin of Crown Prince. Grand Prince Juhyang’s coordinate was also one of the persons who killed his father and mother. Although he wanted to reunited with Hong Cheon-Ki, but he did not want to put her in danger. When the King asked him about his past memory, he just pretended that he forgotten everything in the past.

Suddenly, Hong Cheon-Ki’s father came to the painter gathering. He yelled the name Ma Wang and also Ha Sung-Jin. He threw the brush towards Grand Prince Juhyang. Hong Cheon-Ki quickly apologized to Grand Prince Juhyang. Grand Prince Juhyang asked her whether will she took the punishment for her father. She agreed with it. Grand Prince Yangmyung interrupted and wanted to take responsibility for the unexpected situation. However, the Grand Prince Juhyang scolded him for not doing his job properly. Ha Ram then offered to give Grand Prince Juhyang the money that he bought for the painting so that Grand Prince Juhyang can forgive Hong Cheon-Ki’s father.

Grand Prince Yangmyung invited Hong Cheon-Ki to work at the Palace and also restore the portrait of the late King. Hong Cheon-Ki initially did not want to because she wanted to take care of her sick father. Grand Prince Yangmyung ensure that the he will take good care of her father. He also convinced her to find out the truth why her father became like this. Hong Cheon-Ki changed her mind and agreed to work at the palace.

The headmaster asked her to give a painting to Grand Prince Yangmyung when she went to his resident to meet him. Suddenly, God Samshin came to her and wanted to steal her painting. She placed a spell on the painting which directed her to Ha Ram’s house. Hong Cheon-Ki was surprised when she kept coming back to the same house. She told him that she understood why he tried to hide his identity and also hope that he can open up to speak with her about what had happened in the past. Hong Cheon-Ki left the place but she forgot about the painting that she left there.

It rained heavily. Hong Cheon-Ki walked in the rain. Grand Prince Yangmyung saw her and covered her head with his cloth. Hong Cheon-Ki had a fever and Grand Prince Yangmyung offered to give her a piggy back. Suddenly, Ha Ram stopped him in the middle of the road. He told the prince that Hong Cheon-Ki had promised him first. Hong Cheon-Ki then left the prince and followed Ha Ram. Ha Ram told her what had happened in the past and the reason why he has to pretend that he did not know her.

In order to thank Grand Prince Yangmyung for the rare medicine, Hong Cheon-Ki drew a painting for him. Grand Prince Yangmyung was happy to receive it. Grand Prince Yangmyung then asked her what did she and Ha Ram talked about during that day. Hong Cheon-Ki refused to tell him. Grand Prince Yangmyung felt a bit disappointed.

Grand Prince Yangmyung then asked Ha Ram what is his relationship with Hong Cheon-Ki. Ha Ram indirectly told him that he knew her for a long time and she was also his saver. Ha Ram indirectly challenged the Grand Prince Yangmyung that he wanted Hong Cheon-Ki. Grand Prince Yangmyung was a bit angry and wanted to win her heart no matter what.

Grand Prince Juhyang killed his right-hand man, Ahn Young-Hwe as he believed that he had betrayed him. Ha Ram finally get his revenge against him for killing his parent. His next target was Mi-Soo. Mi-Soo told Grand Prince Juhyang that Ma Wang was inside Ha Ram’s body. In order to prove it, she need Ha Ram’s blood. Grand Prince Juhyang invited Ha Ram to have a meal with Mi-Soo. During the meeting, Grand Prince Juhyang mentioned about Ma Wang. Ha Ram did not know who is Ma Wang. He suddenly remembered that every time he had headache, he was with Hong Cheon-Ki. Grand Prince Juhyang cut his throat a little to get his blood sample. Ha Ram did not know what was going on, however, he believed that Ma Wang was the one who linked all the incident happened.

Hong Cheon-Ki was assigned to work at Ha Ram’s workplace to draw the astrology map during the day. At night, she has to paint the portrait of the late king. King Seongjo did not have much time left, so he hope that Hong Cheon-Ki can complete the painting within a month time. Ahn Gyeon showed her the portrait that her father drew. Hong Cheon-Ki was shocked when she saw the portrait was burnt. She also saw Ma Wang from there. She felt unwell and Ahn Gyeon quickly brought her out. She left Ha Ram’s handkerchief there.

Hong Cheon-Ki never draw a portrait before she worried that she could not draw well. Grand Prince Yangmyung will guide her to draw the portrait since he saw the portrait before. When she started to draw, she realized that the handkerchief was not on her hand waist. She went back to the place that keeps all the late kings’ portraits. With the help of Ha Ram, Hong Cheon-Ki quickly entered and searched for the handkerchief. Ha Ram followed her. He heard Ma Wang’s voice and started to get headache again. Hong Cheon-Ki quickly brought him out of the place. Grand Prince Yangmyung also rushed to look for Hong Cheon-Ki. He saw Ha Ram pushed her away with strong forces. Hong Cheon-Ki and Grand Prince Yangmyung was shock to see something off with Ha Ram. Grand Prince Yangmyung was fainted after Ma Wang pushed him away. Ma Wang also grabbed Hong Cheon-Ki’s neck and tried to kill her. However, Ho Ryeong stepped in to stop him. Ma Wang has no power at the palace. Soon after, Ha Ram fainted in front of Hong Cheon-Ki.

The shaman Mi-Soo sensed that Ma Wang did not have any power. She tried her best to make Ma Wang awaken from Ha Ram’s body. Hong Cheon-Ki and Grand Prince Yangmyung were worried about Ha Ram’s condition. Grand Prince Yangmyung suspected that this incident was connected with previous case in the jungle. Another shaman came to see Grand Prince Yangmyung. She told him that Hong Cheon-Ki and Ha Ram were destinated to be together. She asked him to stay away from her. She also told Grand Prince Yangmyung that Ma Wang was inside Ha Ram’s body. She proved to him the incident happened last night. Grand Prince Yangmyung was really surprised about it. he asked the King about the incident happened to his late grandfather’s portrait. The King told him everything about it.

The king also met Hong Cheon-Ki and told her why she was chosen to draw the late king’s portrait. Hong Cheon-Ki told her father about it. However, her father strongly against it. When she mentioned to her headmaster, her headmaster also strongly against her from drawing the portrait. She had no idea why her father and her headmaster against it. She had no experience in drawing portrait. She found it difficult to draw it. She talked to Ha Ram about it. Ha Ram brought her to meet the best person who study physiognomy in town. She was glad that she learnt a lot from the master. The master talked to Ha Ram privately. He told him that he saw 2 sides from him, one is divine and another one is devil. Ha Ram was surprised about it.

Ha Ram wanted to find out who is Ma Wang. He held a meeting with Grand Prince Juhyang with another identity. Grand Prince Juhyang told him that Ma Wang was sealed in Ha Ram’s body. He tried to awake Ma Wang because he wanted to meet him. Ha Ram was really shocked to hear that. He then asked his bodyguard to find out more about Ma Wang.

Hong Cheon-Ki afraid that she might go crazy like her father after drawing the portrait. She listened to her headmaster and tried to avoid Grand Prince Yangmyung. However, Grand Prince Yangmyung came to her society and looked for her. He knew that she was trying to avoid drawing, but he was persistent to make her came to palace to continue the portrait.  Ha Ram found out that other than Hong Cheon-Ki’s father who painted the portrait, there was another person, Kang who also worked together with her father. However, he could not find the person anywhere after the incident. Kang came to the society to look for Hong Cheon-Ki’s drawing. He only demanded Hong Cheon-Ki’s drawing at midnight. Hong Cheon-Ki’s father saw him and afraid of him as well. He told the headmaster that he was Hwacha and no longer Kang. Hwacha is a goblin who lives off of the energy of paintings. There is a rumor that all painters who signed a contract with him either died or went mad after completing a royal portrait. Because Hwacha did not have the painting, he went to look for Hong Cheon-Ki.

That night, Hong Cheon-Ki went to Ha Ram’s resident. Ha Ram offered her to stay at his house for a day since it was too dark out there. In midnight, the shaman Mi-Soo awaken Ma Wang. Ma Wang came into Hong Cheon-Ki’s room and tried to kill her. Luckily, Hwacha came just in time to stop Ma Wang from killing his painter. He returned the spell back to shaman Mi-Soo. Shaman Mi-Soo was being attacked and passed away.

Ha Ram worried about Hong Cheon-Ki’s safety after she finished her drawing. He gave her a sum of money to escape from the country. He told her that Ma Wang was inside his body. He also afraid that he might hurt her again. Therefore, he urged her to leave with her father as soon as possible. However, Grand Prince Yangmyung found out that Ha Ram was stilling meeting Hong Cheon-Ki. He went to the scene with the guard to catch Ha Ram for breaking the rule.

Hong Cheon-Ki wanted to save Ha Ram. She decided to finish the portrait as soon as possible. Although she already completed the first draft, the portrait did not have any divine. Hong Cheon-Ki has to re-draw again. Hong Cheon-Ki missed Ha Ram so badly. She even begged Grand Prince Yangmyung to allow her to visit Ha Ram. Grand Prince Yangmyung did not fulfill her wish as he afraid that he might hurt her. Grand Prince Yangmyung told to Ha Ram in person. He persuaded Ha Ram to attend the Sealing ceremony. Ha Ram refused. He told Grand Prince Yangmyung that Hong Cheon-Ki might be cursed or go crazy like her father did. He wanted to protect her.

Hong Cheon-Ki looked for a little girl with white hair. The Tiger Spirit told her that she was the reason why Ma Wang kept appeared in front of her. The Tiger Spirit told her to focus on her painting rather than meeting Ha Ram for the sake of her safety.

Hong Cheon-Ki forged Grand Prince Yangmyung’s document into to enter the prison to visit. She and her friend have been caught by the guard. Grand Prince Yangmyung then came by and allowed her to visit for a short while. Ha Ram heard an old man talking to him at the prison. The old man told him that tonight he will meet Painter Hong. He also told him that she can either save him or destroy him. He asked him to hold onto her hand.

Hong Cheon-Ki was glad to see Ha Ram at the prison. They had a short conversation. Ha Ram remembered what the old man said and hold onto her hand. Hong Cheon-Ki and Ha Ram suddenly entered into somewhere like a dream. Both of them saw Ma Wang in front of them. Because of the ring given by Ha Ram rescued them, both of them was safe. Hong Cheon-Ki was in shocked. She saw Ha Ram fainted in front of her. She asked someone to help him. She then told Grand Prince Yangmyung that Ha Ram was in danger and she also saw Ma Wang by herself. She then determined to draw the portrait to seal Ma Wang.

The headmaster heard that Hong Cheon-Ki drew the portrait again. He came to see Ahn Gyeon and questioned him. Hong Cheon-Ki went to Ahn Gyeon’s office as she heard that the headmaster has come. Hong Cheon-Ki stood in front of the office. She heard all the conversation between them. The headmaster told her not to sign a deal with Hwacha. He tried to protect her from being like her father after complete the painting of the portrait.

Ha Ram sent a letter to Grand Prince Juhyang. Grand Prince Juhyang like the plan that Ha Ram suggested. He spread the rumour that the crown prince was dying. Grand Prince Juhyang wanted to get the throne so badly. The officers spread the rumour in all over the palace. Grand Prince Yangmyung visited the King. The King chose him for the next throne rather than Grand Prince Juhyang. Grand Prince Juhyang overheard the conversation and he left angrily.

Jung Shwen-Nae came to see Grand Prince Juhyang and told him the real identity of Illwoeseong. Grand Prince Juhyang then came to the prison and asked Ha Ram’s intention for spreading the rumour, but in return Grand Prince Yangmyung was the one who gain the king’s heart. Ha Ram knew that the King was going to die soon as he analyzed the star in the sky. Soon after the King passed away, Grand Prince Juhyang decided to release Ha Ram from the prison. Although Grand Prince Yangmyung against it, he still insisted to do so. He wanted Ha Ram to hand over Ma Wang to him. Grand Prince Yangmyung once advised him to give up on Ma Wang because that is a bad spirit. However, Grand Prince Juhyang did not care much, he wanted Ma Wang’s power to rule the nation.

Hong Cheon-Ki heard that the King has passed away. She worried about Grand Prince Yangmyung. Therefore, she came and looked for him. His servant told her that he headed to the prison. Hong Cheon-Ki rushed to the prison and saw Grand Prince Juhyang and Ha Ram outside the prison. She sneaked into sedan chair. Ha Ram sensed that Hong Cheon-Ki was in there too. They spoke quietly. Suddenly, the sedan chair slipped. Grand Prince Juhyang demanded to open the door of sedan chair even though Ha Ram said he was fine. Grand Prince Juhyang pulled out his sword and aimed toward the sedan chair. Ha Ram grabbed the sword and asked Hong Cheon-Ki to escape.

Hong Cheon-Ki was asked to focus on her portrait painting.  She completed the painting with the help of her classmates. Since the King has collapsed, Grand Prince Juhyang was going to host the Sealing ceremony. Ha Ram has chosen the best for the Sealing ceremony. However, Grand Prince Juhyang followed the date chosen by Mi-Soo. Grand Prince Juhyang wanted the Ma Wang to possess him. He also needed a divine ring that could control over Ma Wang. Grand Prince Juhyang asked Ha Ram about the ring. Ha Ram recalled that the ring was the one his father gave to her mother. And now the ring was kept by Hong Cheon-Ki. He requested Grand Prince Juhyang to allow him to go out for a while to get the ring as requested. He asked his bodyguard to find a similar ring for Grand Prince Juhyang. On the other hand, he took the real divine ring from Hong Cheon-Ki. He told Hong Cheon-Ki not to come to the Seal ceremony. Hong Cheon-Ki tried to persuade him to change his mind. She told him not to worry about her since she did not make a deal with Hwacha.

Wol Seon gave Grand Prince Yangmyung a sword. She told him that they can’t kill Ma Wang with that sword. However, this sword can kill human. Wol Seon said those who has been possessed by Ma Wang was no longer a human. Grand Prince Yangmyung kept the sword just in case he needed to kill his brother. Wol Seon also warned him that she cannot guarantee his safety with that sword too.

The D-day has come. Hong Cheon-Ki has completed the portrait. Grand Prince Yangmyung told her once again, no matter what happened outside, never ever come out of the room. Grand Prince Yangmyung also apologized to Ha Ram before the Sealing ceremony began. He asked for forgiveness for the sake of the royal family who had done for his family and his eyes. Ha Ram did not want to forgive them easily. He planned to let Grand Prince Juhyang to own Ma Wang.

During the ceremony, Ma Wang has been awake. Mi-Soo performed ritual to let Ma Wang obsessed Grand Prince Juhyang. However, things did not go smoothly. Wol Seon took over and tried to seal Ma Wang into the portrait. However, she failed. The portrait was badly destroyed. Hong Cheon-Ki heard yelling and sound outside. She came out and saw Ha Ram has changed. She tried to stop Ha Ram from harming others. Grand Prince Yangmyung stood in front of Hong Cheon-Ki to prevent Ha Ram from hurting her. Ha Ram also tried to control Ma Wang from hurting Hong Cheon-Ki. He kept asking Hong Cheon-Ki to run away. Grand Prince Yangmyung stabbed him with the sword. Ha Ram back to normal. Everyone was safe.

Ha Ram regained his consciousness. Grand Prince Juhyang ordered his men to catch Ha Ram. He quickly ran away with Hong Cheon-Ki. They could not find them anywhere. In order to lure Hong Cheon-Ki, Grand Prince Juhyang caught her father and member of painting society. He also offered a great sum of money if anyone see Hong Cheon-Ki and Ha Ram. They set a trap and brought her father to walk around the street. Words transferred fast. When Hong Cheon-Ki heard that her father has been caught she quickly went to see her father. Then, Grand Prince Juhyang captured both of them.

Grand Prince Juhyang made a deal with Hong Cheon-Ki to draw the portrait again before he released her father. Hong Cheon-Ki agreed to do so. They locked her up in a room. Mi-Soo came to see her. She wondered why Ma Wang wanted her eyes. She realized that her eyes were belonged to Ma Wang.

Grand Prince Juhyang wanted Grand Prince Yangmyung to hold his responsibility for failing the sealing ceremony. He exiled his brother from the palace. Luckily, some of the ministers were sided with Grand Prince Yangmyung. They helped Grand Prince Yangmyung and brought him back to palace.

Ha Ram knew that it was a trap. He tried to save Hong Cheon-Ki’s father before Hong Cheon-Ki knew about it. However, Hong Cheon-Ki already knew about it and she has been captured by Grand Prince Juhyang. Ha Ram brought his men to rescue Hong Cheon-Ki and her father. Unfortunately, they have been attacked by Grand Prince Juhyang. Although they successfully escaped from Grand Prince Juhyang, Grand Prince Juhyang shot a poison arrow toward her father. Before her father passed away, he warned her not to draw the portrait. He wanted her to live happily without him. Grand Prince Juhyang decided to frame Hong Cheon-Ki’s friends and headmaster for their crime. Hong Cheon-Ki heard that Grand Prince Juhyang tried to behead them. She was extremely worried about them. Ha Ram knew that it was a trap. He stopped her from leaving the room. He promised her that he will find a way to rescue them. Hong Cheon-Ki could not stay still. She decided to go there to rescue them by herself.

Ha Ram received a request from the King. The King has gained his consciousness. He met the King in person. The King told him that all the while he knew that Ha Ram was planning for revenge against the royal. He told him that it was the demon who killed his father rather than the investigator. Ha Ram could not believe what he said. Suddenly, he recalled that he killed his own father. He felt guilty towards his father and blamed himself for it.

Before the Grand Prince Juhyang proceed the execution, the King stopped him. The King had a conversation with him. Grand Prince Juhyang told his father that he needed Ma Wang to possess him because in the past Ma Wang had left a scar on his body and his body is slowly deteriorated.  The King locked him up in the prison as he has no sense of reflection. The King and Grand Prince Yangmyung decided to hold another Sealing ceremony to seal the Ma Wang.

Ha Ram consoled Hong Cheon-Ki for the loss of her father. Ma Wang has been slowly eaten his body and that he could not be able to control himself. He quickly left the house and ran far away from Hong Cheon-Ki. Ha Ram met his ancestor in his dream. His grandfather told him that he has to break the ring and also let Ma Wang to be sealed in the portrait. The next morning, Hong Cheon-Ki could not find Ha Ram anywhere. However, she decided to re-draw the portrait. She wondered why the previous portrait couldn’t be able to seal Ma Wang. Suddenly, Hwacha showed up in front of her. in order to make the portrait has divine power, she need to make a deal with him. Hong Cheon-Ki asked as if she will go insane or die as the result of their deal, Hwacha said he only wanted the painting. Hong Cheon-Ki agreed with the deal.

Since Hong Cheon-Ki’s hand has been injured, Hwacha prevented her from drawing until the Sealing Day. She needed to complete the painting before the Sealing ceremony started. Ha Ram went to the lake and broke the ring as told by his grandfather. He felt that his body has been slowly being controlled by Ma Wang.

Mae Hyang who used to side with Ha Ram found out that he has changed his mind. Mae Hyang went to the prison to meet Grand Prince Juhyang. She offered to join hand with him to go against the King.

Since Ha Ram broke the ring, he has completely controlled by Ma Wang. Ma Wang came to the Seal ceremony. He was looking for Hong Cheon-Ki. He took his eyes back. Hong Cheon-Ki became blind. Luckily with the help of God Samsin and Tiger Spirit, they managed to drag Ma Wang out of the room rather than let him to hurt her. Hong Cheon-Ki asked Grand Prince Yangmyung to help her grab the brush. Since she was unable to see, she can’t complete the portrait. Hwacha came by and helped her by calling her father’s spirit. Her father spirit guided her to draw the portrait. Eventually, they successfully completed the portrait.

God Samsin and Tiger Spirit acknowledged that the portrait has been completed. God Samsin decided to take Ma Wang together with her and sealed it into the portrait. Hwacha then took the painting with him.

Ha Ram has gain consciousness. He found himself able to see again. Hong Cheon-Ki was worried about Ha Ram. She came out and looked for him. At first, she thought that she became blind again. Tiger Spirit told her that the curse has been lifted, so she was able to gain her vision again. Ha Ram and Hong Cheon-Ki left the palace secretly. Both of them spent their lives at the countryside. They even get married and have a son.

Five years later, Grand Prince Yangmyung and friends from painting institution came to celebrate their birthday. Both Hong Cheon-Ki and Ha Ram’s birthday fall on the same day. Grand Prince Yangmyung presented an ink pad for Hong Cheon-Ki. As for Ha Ram, he gave his father an honor to clear his name. Therefore, in future, their son will be able to take government examination. Ha Ram thanked him gladly. 

Suddenly, Grand Prince Yangmyung received a news from the palace. He needed to head back to the palace at once. Ha Ram and Hong Cheon-Ki did not involve in any politic affair anymore. However, they worried about Grand Prince Yangmyung’s safety. Ha Ram read the star which shows that Grand Prince Yangmyung’s star became weaker. He hoped that he can overcome the issues. Ha Ram and Hong Cheon-Ki exchanged gifts with one another. Ha Ram also fulfilled his duty to bring her to the peach garden to pick peaches. They lived happily ever after. Grand Prince Juhyang who was imprisoned for five years, was going to held a rebellion against Grand Prince Yangmyung.

Yoon Hye-Jin is a dentist who worked in Seoul. She became unemployed after having an argument with her boss. She decided to open her own clinic at the countryside. She met a man, Hong Du-Sik. The local residents used to call him Chief Hong. He is friendly and used to provide help for the needy.

Yoon Hye-Jin went to the seaside village of Gongjin to relax her mind. She had a bad day for losing her expensive shoes and also car broken down. She did not have much cash on hand. Therefore, Hong Du-Sik offered her to work with the residents to earn some money to pay off her food. Although she was not used to work in the market, she willing to learn and work. She was getting curious about Hong Du-Sik as she saw him worked at almost everywhere in the village. She wondered what was he actually doing.

Hong Du-Sik renovated the clinic as well as her rented house. Yoon Hye-Jin was invited to attend the elderly gathering party. Yoon Hye-Jin dislikes gathering. Her landlord Yeo Hwa-Jeong offered her to come and promote her clinic. Yoon Hye-Jin agreed to come just because she wanted to promote her clinic.  During the gathering, her neighbors disliked her because she spoke ill about the villagers there and also looked down on them too. Because of these, nobody come to her clinic. Her best friend, Pyo Mi-Seon also came all the way to Gongjin Prince to be her assistance to help her.

Hong Du-Sik helped to fix her relationship with the villagers. He asked her to attend the gathering to build bond with the villagers. He also talked to her to sincerely apologized to the villagers for her mistakes. She listened to him and apologized to them. Hong Du-Sik also offered his friends to visit the clinic. Yoon Hye-Jin became better from day to day.

Yoon Hye-Jin wanted to attend her friend’s wedding in Seoul. Hong Du-Sik gathered those grannies who wanted to go to Seoul too with her ride. Yoon Hye-Jin was extremely unhappy about it. She did not expect to give them a ride to Seoul. On the journey, the grannies stopped at several rest area due to they had a weak bladder. Yoon Hye-Jin was late to attend the wedding ceremony. During the wedding ceremony, her classmates teased her for opening a clinic at the countryside. Yoon Hye-Jin teased them back for their words. One of the classmates captured her picture with Hong Du-Sik on the street.

Hong Du-Sik brought Kim Gam-Ri to the clinic due to her toothache. Yoon Hye-Jin recommended her to do an implant so that she can retain her strong teeth. Kim Gam-Ri refused to do an implant because she did not want to waste money on her teeth. Yoon Hye-Jin then asked her to leave the clinic since she refused to do implant. Kim Gam-Ri felt insulted and left. Hong Du-Sik scolded Yoon Hye-Jin for being rude to Kim Gam-Ri. He decided to pay for the treatment using his own money. Kim Gam-Ri refused to accept. She did not want to burden her children about her health condition.

Hong Du-Sik tried to convince Yoon Hye-Jin to accept his money for her treatment. Yoon Hye-Jin also refused it. Yoon Hye-Jin told Hong Du-Sik about her dead mother. It reminded her about her mother who failed to take care of herself. Hong Du-Sik realized what she said has a point. He called up Kim Gam-Ri’s son and told him about her condition. Yoon Hye-Jin also came to visit Kim Gam-Ri. Kim Gam-Ri offered meals for her to eat. Kim Gam-Ri convinced her to do the implantation. She also willing to pay part of the fees for her implantation. Hong Du-Sik found Yoon Hye-Jin’s another pair of shoes at the ocean while he was fishing. He dried the shoes and gave her back. She was so excited to get back her expensive shoes. She wore it every day.

Hong Du-Sik who worked at various places in the village. He was the villagers Number 1 hero. However, he does not work during his rest day. One day, Pyo Mi-Seon has been sexually harassed by the patient. Yoon Hye-Jin witnessed that. She punched the patient with her leg. Kim Gam-Ri also contacted Hong Du-Sik to help Yoon Hye-Jin. Kim Gam-Ri also provided the patient’s handphone which contained the evidences of his sexual harassment. The patient was then being caught by the police.

Yoon Hye-Jin decided to thank him properly. She felt that she was in debt with him for helping her a lot. Yoon Hye-Jin came to his house to pay a visit. She was shocked when Hong Du-Sik told her that he lived alone since he was young. Yoon Hye-Jin was drunk and she kissed Hong Du-Sik. The next morning, she was surprised that she slept at his house. She quickly left his house. Jo Nam-Sook saw her coming out from Hong Du-Sik’s house. She spread the rumor to all over the villagers. Now everyone was talking their relationship.

Yoon Hye-Jin couldn’t remember what had happened last night. She can only remember that she sang and danced at the street. When she asked Hong Du-Sik about last night, he just said nothing. The rumor getting on serious and Yoon Hye-Jin was really unhappy about it. She did not want others to misunderstanding them.

Pyo Mi-Seon joined the chat group of the villagers. They told her about Hong Du-Sik’s personality and his background. Pyo Mi-Seon then told Yoon Hye-Jin about what she heard from the villagers. Yoon Hye-Jin was surprised when they mentioned that he graduated from Seoul National University. One day, Yoon Hye-Jin treated Hong Du-Sik at restaurant far from Gongjin. She tested him mathematics in order to proof that he was graduated from Seoul National University. After having a meal, they went by the sea to play around with one another in the rain. Yoon Hye-Jin suddenly remember that she kissed him that night. She became serious and left the place. Hong Du-Sik has no idea why her mood changes.

At home, she told Pyo Mi-Seon about the kiss. Pyo Mi-Seon suspected that there is something happened between them. The next day, Yoon Hye-Jin confronted with Hong Du-Sik. She wanted to have a clear line between both of them. Hong Du-Sik told her that she was being too sensitive about the kiss that night. She ignored him and pretended that she did not know him at the street too. Hong Du-Sik was disappointed with her attitude and pretend not knowing her either.

Oh Ju-Ri ran away from home because her father refused to give her money to do braces. She came to Yoon Hye-Jin’s house and stayed overnight there. Yoon Hye-Jin had the same feeling as Oh Ju-Ri because both of them grow up without mother. Yoon Hye-Jin also informed her father to allow Oh Ju-Ri to have more personal spaces as she was growing up. She also did not recommend Oh Ju-Ri to do braces since her teeth was in good shape.

The village was going to held a concert. All the villagers were invited to join the performance contest. Choi Bo-Ra sang the best. She won the first prize. Oh Ju-Ri was injured before the contest started. Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik accompanied her to make performance on the stage although both of them were bad at dancing. Oh Ju-Ri wanted to win the prize so that she can do braces. She won the 3^rd place. She was surprised when her idol, June came to her village to perform. She was extremely happy about it. She greeted June personally. June was amused by her charm and like her special tooth too. Thereafter, she decided not to do braces.

Yoon Hye-Jin was jealous when she saw Hong Du-Sik walked with Wang Ji-Won at the street. The villagers spread rumors about them dating one another. Hong Du-Sik met a guy on the hill, Ji Seong-Hyeon. He is a director for film: The Seashore Grasshopper. He came to Gongjin to survey and plan for his film location. He is Yoon Hye-Jin’s senior in university.

Ji Seong-Hyeon wanted to borrow Kim Gam-Ri’s house for filming. However, she refused to borrow her house. Ji Seong-Hyeon tried to win her heart by sending gifts and helping her fix her house. Day by day, she was touched by his gesture.

Hong Du-Sik dragged her to wash the blanket together with him at Kim Gam-Ri’s house. Kim Gam-Ri felt that she was alone at the house. She finally agreed to lend her house for filming. She asked Hong Du-Sik to call the director over to discuss about the house. Ji Seong-Hyeon then told Hong Du-Sik that Yoon Hye-Jin’s back was hurt since she had an accident in a few years back.

Chang Yeong-Guk invited all the villagers and informed them about filming in Gongjin. Everyone was excited about it. Hong Du-Sik invited Ji Seong-Hyeon to come over to his house for a drink. Yoon Hye-Jin wanted to follow them as well. Ji Seong-Hyeon wanted to hire Hong Du-Sik to be his guide. However, Hong Du-Sik did not want to. After being begged by him, Hong Du-Sik finally agreed to be his guide.

Hong Du-Sik was surprised when Ji Seong-Hyeon asked him whether Yoon Hye-Jin has a boyfriend. He sent a brunch set right in front of her door. He tried to win her heart. However, Yoon Hye-Jin only treated him as a senior that she respects. Hong Du-Sik was jealous when Ji Seong-Hyeon and Yoon Hye-Jin were together. He purposely spoiled the atmosphere while they were talking about their past. Ji Seong-Hyeon helped the villagers for free which made Hong Du-Sik even more jealous.

One day, the villagers complained that they had lost some of their belonging. Yu Cho-Hui, who was an elementary school teacher who nearly being taken by a stranger. Luckily, Yeo Hwa-Jeong saved her from the stranger. In order to strengthen the security of the villagers, the policemen and Hong Du-Sik decided to patrol the area during the night. It was raining heavily at night. Yoon Hye-Jin offered him an umbrella, but he refused. He just gave her a bag of herb that is useful for her back pain.

The next day, Hong Du-Sik caught a fever. Ji Seong-Hyeon told him to rest at home. However, he insisted to help him for filming. While they were walking on the street, they saw Yoon Hye-Jin was chasing a man. Both of them helped to catch the man who scammed Jo Nam-Suk. Yoon Hye-Jin disliked her because she stole her customers away and offered them a cheaper price for dental technician to do their teeth. Yoon Hye-Jin even warned her that it is illegal for them to ask dental technician to do the mold. Even though she hated her, she still offered to check her teeth.

Hong Du-Sik was sick. He went home to have a rest. Yoon Hye-Jin came to his house and cooked a porridge for him. She was bad at cooking. However, Hong Du-Sik still finished up the whole porridge. Yoon Hye-Jin wanted to kiss him, but she suddenly awoke and found herself being foolish. Hong Du-Sik knew that she was going to kiss him. He just pretended to be sleeping and stay still until she left.

While everyone was busy visiting the filming place, Yoon Hye-Jin was too busy with her work and forgot about the time. She went back home alone in the dark. She sensed that someone has been following her along the way. Hong Du-Sik was worried about Yoon Hye-Jin who came home late. Therefore, he went to her house to see whether was she at home. Yoon Hye-Jin was relieved when she saw him right in front of her. She ran over to him and hugged him which made Hong Du-Sik even more surprised. The man just wanted to return her handphone to her. Yoon Hye-Jin felt shy and quickly entered her house. That night both Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik could not sleep well. They felt awkward with one another.

The next day, Hong Du-Sik taught Yoon Hye-Jin’s parent how to refuel their car with new technology. Her parents were even surprised when Hong Du-Sik was at Yoon Hye-Jin’s house. He came to fix the shower as requested by Pyo Mi-Seon. Hong Du-Sik tried to explain about his relationship with Yoon Hye-Jin but her father seemed to suspect about him. Hong Du-Sik has no choice but lied that he was Yoon Hye-Jin’s boyfriend. Initially, Yoon Hye-Jin’s father did not look good on Hong Du-Sik as he talked to him casually, he is unemployed and he is an orphan.  After getting to know one another better, Yoon Hye-Jin’s father realized that he was a man that his daughter deserved. Hong Du-Sik admitted that he lied to him for pretending to be her boyfriend. Yoon Hye-Jin’s father did not scold him, but grown fond of him.

Yoon Hye-Jin also asked Hong Du-Sik about what had happened to him after he graduated. She also asked whether is he temporary worked as a part timer. Hong Du-Sik did not tell her anything. He just wanted to continue work as a part timer in his hometown. Hong Du-Sik used to have a nightmare. He even consulted doctors to prescribe him some medicine. He had a sad past experience for losing his family member since he was young. He felt that he was the one who brings bad luck to them.

Ji Seong-Hyeon was jealous. He liked Yoon Hye-Jin since he was in college. He did not want to be late anymore. He decided to confess his feeling to her. Ji Seong-Hyeon was on the way back to Seoul. He suddenly returned back to Gongjin as he did not want to wait anymore. By the time he reached Gongjin, he heard that Yoon Hye-Jin has been attacked by pervert. He quickly rushed to the hospital to see her. Luckily Hong Du-Sik was there to rescue her. He has been stabbed by the pervert while protecting her.

Hong Du-Sik was going to prepare the materials for praying his grandfather. Yoon Hye-Jin thought that since he was injured, she decided to buy some food for praying on his behalf. She never knew that other neighbors also brought many for him. At night, Yoon Hye-Jin prayed and ate the dinner with Hong Du-Sik. After the dinner, Yoon Hye-Jin was surprised when Ji Seong-Hyeon waiting for her in front of her house. She even shocked when Ji Seong-Hyeon confessed his feeling for her. However, she did not give him the answer.

While Yoon Hye-Jin and Pyo Mi-Seon were away from Gongjin, Yoon Hye-Jin kept mentioning about Hong Du-Sik and places that resembled Gongjin. She could not stop thinking about Hong Du-Sik. She decided to head back to Gongjin. She went straight to his house, but he was not around. She found him and confessed her feeling to him. Hong Du-Sik also could not hide his feeling anymore. He kissed her passionately and confessed his feeling too.

Yoon Hye-Jin wanted to hid their relationship from the villagers. She unintentionally hit Hong Du-Sik whenever there was someone that they knew was around. However, they never expect that all the villagers already knew that they were dating. Yoon Hye-Jin also told Ji Seong-Hyeon in person that she already had someone she loved. Ji Seong-Hyeon knew that he was Hong Du-Sik. Before he left Gongjin, he asked him to take good care of Yoon Hye-Jin.

Yoon Hye-Jin made a bucket list of what she wanted to do with her boyfriend. Hong Du-Sik found that Yoon Hye-Jin has been react weirdly. She kept asking him to do these and that. He found out that it was Yoon Hye-Jin’s wishes to do a couple of things with him. Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik went to Seoul for dating. She brought a suit for him. She also brought herself an expensive jewelry. Hong Du-Sik wanted to buy for her but he did not earn much. Instead, he made a jewelry box for her. Hong Du-Sik became depressed after meeting his friend at Seoul. He also tried to avoid Yoon Hye-Jin’s questions when she asked about his ex-girlfriend.

Yoon Hye-Jin cooked seaweed soup for Hong Du-Sik’s birthday. She never expected that the whole villagers came to his house and celebrate together with him. Yoon Hye-Jin was terrible at cooking. However, Hong Du-Sik did not want to disappoint her by finished up the salty seaweed soup.

Chang Yeong-Guk wondered why his ex-wife Yeo Hwa-Jeong treated him so well. He could not understand why she wanted a divorce. He kept sneaking Yeo Hwa-Jeong to watch her from far. He also helped her to clean the dishes secretly when she fell asleep at the restaurant.

Ham Yun-Gyeong was angry with her husband Choi Geum-Cheol, who did not care about his wife so much. Ham Yun-Gyeong admired Yoon Hye-Jin who can dating happily with Hong Du-Sik. When she asked her husband to have time spend together before she gave birth, her husband turned it down. She was a bit disappointed. When she asked her husband to tie a shoes lace for her, her husband complain. She was too frustrated and had an argument with him. Yoon Hye-Jin stopped by at her convenient shop. Yoon Hye-Jin expressed that she admired her as a strong woman who carried baby. Ham Yun-Gyeong suddenly encounter water broke. Yoon Hye-Jin quickly called her husband, but Hong Du-Sik picked up the phone instead. Choi Geum-Cheol left his handphone at Hong Du-Sik’s house. Hong Du-Sik came over and drove them to hospital. Due to road block, they could not be able to go to hospital. Hong Du-Sik took them to Yoon Hye-Jin’s house. Hong Du-Sik called up Kim Gam-Ri, who used to give birth at home, to ask for help. After a couples of hours, the baby was born. Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik hold the baby in hand.

Yoon Hye-Jin’s friends came to Gongjin to visit her. Yoon Hye-Jin introduced Hong Du-Sik to her friends. Her friends invited them to play golf together. Hong Du-Sik borrowed golf accessories from Chang Yeong-Guk. Yoon Hye-Jin’s friends were amazed by Hong Du-Sik’s skill. When they asked Hong Du-Sik about his job, her friends were shocked to his answer. They advised her to think more realistic about getting marry with one another.

When Yoon Hye-Jin asked Hong Du-Sik about his future plan as well as his career. Hong Du-Sik only gave her a vague answer. Yoon Hye-Jin was disappointed on him. She wondered why Hong Du-Sik refused to open up himself and tell her more about him. Hong Du-Sik apologized but he still unable to express himself. Yoon Hye-Jin decided to temporary a part from one another until Hong Du-Sik willing to talk about it.

Yoon Hye-Jin was crying and went out of Hong Du-Sik’s house. Yeo Hwa-Jeong saw Yoon Hye-Jin on the road and asked her what had happened to her. she invited her to come to her house. Yoon Hye-Jin asked her why Hong Du-Sik did not open up to her. Yeo Hwa-Jeong also did not know why, however, she told her to give him sometimes to speak up by his own. Everyone in Gongjin noticed that something off with Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik.

Chang Yeong-Guk apologized to Yeo Hwa-Jeong for what he did in the past. He did not know how good his wife is until he lost her. Yeo Hwa-Jeong also accepted his apologize and wanted to start their relationship all over again.

Ji Seong-Hyeon heard that Yoon Hye-Jin and Hong Du-Sik was not in good term. He came to see Hong Du-Sik in person. He also persuaded him to tell her his past and let Yoon Hye-Jin to decide whether or not to accept him. Kim Gam-Ri also talked to Hong Du-Sik to open up his heart and tried to win Yoon Hye-Jin back before he lost it. A few days later, Yoon Hye-Jin came to Hong Du-Sik’s house. She brought the side dishes that her stepmother made for them. She shared them with Hong Du-Sik. She also gave him a chance to speak up. She also told him that she was not a very patient person who can wait his answer for long. Finally, Hong Du-Sik gathered his courage and wanted to tell Yoon Hye-Jin about it.

Ji Seong-Hyeon held a party after their team had finished filming. Kim Do-Ha suddenly hit Hong Du-Sik in his face when he heard about his name. Hong Du-Sik admitted that he was the one who killed them.

Hong Du-Sik did not go out for days. Everyone was worried about him. Kim Gam-Ri gave him food every day. However, Hong Du-Sik did not touch any of them. She came to meet Yoon Hye-Jin to talk about it. Yoon Hye-Jin also worried about him. She came to his house and decided to cook a meal for him. Hong Du-Sik told her that he has something to say about his past. Hong Du-Sik used to have a best friend; Park Jeong-U. Park Jeong-U offered him to work as a fund manager. Initially, the fund that he managed earn a lot of money. Kim Do-Ha’s father was interested to invest in the fund that managed by him. Hong Du-Sik advised him not to act recklessly because the fund that he managed was high risk fund. However, Kim Do-Ha’s father wanted his family to live in a better house, so he borrowed money and also used up his pension to invest in the fund. Due to global financial crisis, most of the fund was in huge lost. Kim Do-Ha’s father was shocked and worried that he was in huge debt. He tried to talk to Hong Du-Sik, but Hong Du-Sik was too busy attending other customers as well. At night, he received a news that Kim Do-Ha’s father committed suicide. Hong Du-Sik felt guilty and decided to see him at the hospital. Park Jeong-U saw his emotion was unstable. He offered to drove him there. Unfortunately, both of them met an accident. Park Jeong-U passed away then.

Hong Du-Sik felt really sorry for Park Jeong-U and Kim Do-Ha’s father. He decided to jump off the Han River bridge. Suddenly, Kim Gam-Ri sent a message for him. It changed his mind for committing suicide. At that time, Yoon Hye-Jin also bypassed the bridge while driving a car. She saw a man in hospital suit was trying to jump off the bridge. She stopped her car and called for help. Thereafter, Hong Du-Sik returned to his hometown and helped others around.

Hong Du-Sik and Yoon Hye-Jin planned to visit Park Jeong-U tomb. On the way, they met Park Jeong-U’s wife and his son. Park Jeong-U’s wife told him that she no longer resent him anymore. She wanted him to let go and live on his life. Yoon Hye-Jin told Hong Du-Sik that she was offered to work in Seoul. However, she declined the offer because she wanted to stay in Gongjin.

Kim Gam-Ri passed away while she was asleep. Everyone came to her funeral to pay a visit. Hong Du-Sik seems fine when he was at the funeral. Seong Gi-Hun was an unemployed man. He lost his business. He faced a huge debt. He stayed with his mother. His mother gave him some money to buy some fried chicken for his daughter’s birthday. He asked for money from his mother. In fact, he also stole his mother’s money and gambled lottery. Although he won the lottery, the money has been stolen by Kang Sae-Byeok. The debt collector also came to see him and threatened to sell his organ if he failed to pay. He did not have any money to buy a birthday gift for his daughter. He just simply brought her some tteokbokki for her birthday.

While he was on his way home, he met a misery man at the railway station. The man offered him to play a game with him. If he wins the game, he will receive 100,000 won. If he loses, he has to pay 100,000 won. During the first game, Seong Gi-Hun lost the game. The man gave him a slap as to replace the 100,000 won that he owed. Seong Gi-Hun continued to play the game until he won. He was really happy as he received a lot of money. The man also gave him a name card as if he wanted to join the game in earn more money.

His mother wondered where did he get the money from. He told his mother that he earned it by himself. His mother then mentioned about her granddaughter who was going to move to USA. His mother told him that if he wanted to see his daughter again, he has to prove that he was financial stable and able to take care of his daughter. At night, he decided to join game. He called the number given and waited for the vehicle to pick him up.

By the time Seong Gi-Hun woke up, he found himself in a big dormitory. Everyone wore the same green shirt with a tag number. There are people who wore red shirt as well with different shape: circle, square and triangle. Circle man is the person who does not speak but only follow instruction from square man. Square Man is the one who give orders. Triangle man is a person who is a killer and he always carries gun.

Seong Gi-Hun met an old man, Player 001. (Oh Il-Nam was an old man with the tag 001). He has a brain tumor. The reason why he joined the Squid Games is because he did not have much time left. He hoped that he can lived the fullness of his life. Seong Gi-Hun was surprised to see Cho Sang-Woo during the first game.  Cho Sang-Woo grows up in the same neighborhood as him.

Cho Sang-Woo was graduated from SNU. His mother always praised her son for being a bright student. Cho Sang-Woo also faced financial issues. He lost all his money for investment. The policeman and debt collectors were searching for him everywhere. He felt ashamed to go home. Therefore, he joined the Squid Games in the hope to win the money.

During the first game, they were played the Green Light, Red Light. Whoever breaks the rule of the game, he or she will be shot dead. Many of the people were panic when they heard the gun shot and someone had died on the spot. Seong Gi-Hun and Cho Sang-Woo managed to make it into the end of the game. They were terrified with the rules set for the games. Someone suggested to terminate the game. The Square man then let the players to vote whether they still want to continue playing the games or terminate game. Before he let them vote, he revealed the money that they could earn for winning the game. In the end of the voting, majority of the player decided to terminate the game. Therefore, the organizer sent them back to their original place.

Seong Gi-Hun was happy that he was back to his normal life. He lodged a police report about the game that kills human. Due to lack of evidence, the police thought that he was playing a prank on them. Seong Gi-Hun then went home. He realized that his mother has admitted to the hospital. The doctor recommended his mother to accept surgery before her diabetes became worsen. His mother left the hospital as she could not afford to pay for the hospital. He asked his mother to use the insurance to pay for the bill. His mother reminded him that he has cancelled all the insurance policy and spent all that money. Seong Gi-Hun asked his friends and ex-wife for money. He felt insulted when his ex-wife husband tried to ban him from seeing his daughter with that money. He felt hopeless. He met the old man, Player 001 at the convenience shop. The old man told him that he decided to join the game as life far more difficult than in the game.

Hwang Jun-Ho is a policeman. His brother went missing for a couple of days. When he searched his dormitory, he found the name card that Seong Gi-Hun had. He went to see him and asked him about the name card. Seong Gi-Hun refused to tell him anything since the police did not trust him.

Seong Gi-Hun saw another name card at his house. If he wanted to restart the game, he has to come to the same destination to wait for the vehicle to pick them up. Hwang Jun-Ho followed him all the way to the boat. He sneaked into one of the cars and attacked the 029 Circle man. He threw the Circle man into the sea and changed into his outfit. He went to his dormitory and saw there was a CCTV in his room. He hid his face from the CCTV. He recorded what he saw and did into his handphone. He realized that everyone has been monitored in there.

Kang Sae-Byeok was a defector from North Korea. She pickpocketed Seong Gi-Hun. She needed to money for the broker to brought her parents from the North to China. She has a brother at the orphanage home. She used to work with Jang Deok-Soo. Jang Deok-Soo was a thug who betrayed his boss and stole his boss’s money. Other thugs were also looking for him.               

Ali Abdul is a foreign immigrant. His lost his two fingers due to work. His boss did not give him his pay for months. He has a family to feed too. He stole his boss’s money and gave it to his family. He decided to join the games again.

As the game restart, everyone became more cautious and tried to find what the next game is. Kang Sae-Byeok took the opportunity to went for toilet with Han Mi-Nyeo. She wanted to check out the next game. She smelt sugar and saw the Circle man melting something. She told Han Mi-Nyeo what she saw as Han Mi-Nyeo helped her with her plan to find out the next game. Because Kang Sae-Byeok came from North Korea, she has no idea what is the next game is. Cho Sang-Woo overheard Kang Sae-Byeok conversation. He then asked her directly. Cho Sang-Woo thought about it and saw the shapes on the wall, umbrella, triangle, square and star. He figured out quickly what the next game is. He chose the simple one, triangle. However, he did not warn his teammate about it. In fact, Cho Sang-Woo told Seong Gi-Hun and the gang that everyone should chose a difference shape as they don’t know what the next game is.  Seong Gi-Hun was terrified when he has to pick a stamped shape out of the umbrella-dalgona, which is the most difficult one. Seong Gi-Hun used his saliva to melt the dalgona. There is a player took a higher-ranked staff member as hostage before killing himself. As the staff member is killed, and Jun-ho took the square mask.

At night, the food served was only soda and egg. Jang Deok-Soo’s team did not have enough food, so they took the second round, thus the remaining people did not have any food left for them. One of the players had a fight with Jang Deok-Soo as he stole his food. Jang Deok-Soo beat him until he died. The red shirt man then take body out of the dormitory. Cho Sang-Woo told Seong Gi-Hun and other teammate to stay awake as something might happened at night. Jang Deok-Soo’s team started to attack others and there is bloodshed everywhere. Luckily, the red shirt man stopped them and everyone returned to their own place.

Player 111 was a doctor who involved in illegal human organ tracking with the red shirt man. They conspired with one another. In return, the red shirt man gave him some tips for the next game. They suggested Player 111 to find a strong team to win the 3^rd game. Player 111 decided to join Jang Deok-Soo’s team.  In exchange, he will tell them what is the next game. Han Mi-Nyeo wanted to join Jang Deok-Soo as she thought Jang Deok-Soo can protect her. However, she never knew that Jang Deok-Soo betrayed her during the 3^rd game. She then decided to join Seong Gi-Hun’s team.

The 3^rd game started shortly. It was a game that required teamwork. Cho Sang-Woo wanted to find strong man for their team. Seong Gi-Hun let Player 001 to join their team whereas Kang Sae-Byeok invited Ji-Yeong to join the team. There is still one spot left for their team and Han Mi-Nyeo just filled up the occupancy. Everyone did not want Han Mi-Nyeo to join their team because she was the annoying one. 3^rd game was about Tug of War. Seong Gi-Hun and Cho Sang-Woo worried that they might lose the game since they are the weakest among others team. By using strategy suggested by Player 001 and Cho Sang-Woo, they managed to beat the other team.

Seong Gi-Hun afraid that there might be another fighting at night. He suggested everyone to take turn to stay out at night as they afraid that Jang Deok-Soo might attack them. Player 111 did not come back to his dormitory as he was operating the dead body’s organ. The Triangle man did not know what the next game is, so Player 111 felt that he was being betrayed by them. He killed one of the Triangle men. Player 111 has been killed because he broke the rule for knowing the next game in advance. The leader killed him by himself as he wanted to create fairness game for everyone who struggled to survive in real world. The leader found out that 029 Circle man was gone. They were looking for him everywhere as he was the one who killed 028 Circle man.

Hwang Jun-Ho found out about the illegal operation and selling of organ. He also sneaked into the leader’s room to search for the information. He found out that his brother was the winner of the game during 2015. He captured those documents and evidences via his handphone. He tried to call for help, but the phone only for internal use.

The red shirt men came to the dormitory to check the quantity of the player. Soon after, they started the 4^th game. They have to find a partner to play the game. They are required to play with one another. Each of them has 10 marble balls. The winner is those who won 20 marble balls. They are free to play any kind of games with the marble balls. It was a heartbreaking story to kill someone that is dear to you.

Cho Sang-Woo stole all the marble balls from Ali. He tricked Ali to find other players with balance marble balls. Ali was too dumb to trust Cho Sang-Woo whom he thought that he will help him throughout the game.

Seong Gi-Hun was partnered with Player 001. Player 001 did not want to play the game and kept escaping from him. Seong Gi-Hun fooled him to play with him. Although Seong Gi-Hun only left with 1 marble ball, Player 001 purposely gave him a chance to win the game. When Seong Gi-Hun gathered all 19 marble balls, Player 001 refused to give him the only marble ball. They had a long conversation with one another. At last, Player 001 gave Seong Gi-Hun the last marble ball. Seong Gi-Hun felt sorry for him.

Kang Sae-Byeok never expect the game was to kill her partner. She was hesitated to play the game. Ji-Yeong suggested that both of them have a deep conversation with one another before either one of them died. Ji-Yeong purposely let Kang Sae-Byeok win the game as she felt that Kang Sae-Byeok deserved to survive more than her.

There was a husband and wife joined the game a well. The husband won the game, but he did not feel happy at all. He asked everyone to vote to end his game because he did not want to play anymore. However, nobody wanted to end the game. Therefore, he decided to commit suicide. Soon after, the 5^th game has begun.

The VIP arrived at the site to watch the players to play the game. The players are required to bypass the glasses to another end. However, there are normal glass and tempered glass. They have to pick the tempered glass as it can withstand more weight. Many of the players died as they picked the wrong one. There was a player who used to work in the glass factory. He can distinguish which glass is a tempered glass. Seong Gi-Hun asked him why he did not speak up so that he can save more lives. The player did not want to because other players might want to kill him for the next game. The leader realized that and closed the light so that the player can’t pick the tempered glass. Since the time only left a few min left. Cho Sang-Woo then pushed the player in front for the last glass. Three of them (Cho Sang-Woo, Seong Gi-Hun and Kang Sae-Byeok) managed passed through the glasses on time. They are qualified for the finalist.

One of the VIP has been killed. The leader wanted to catch the intruder. Hwang Jun-Ho managed to escaped by diving. He reached on a deserted island. The leader managed to find him as all the oxygen tank placed a tracker on it. Hwang Jun-Ho tried to get signal from the top of the mountain. He asked for help and sent some evidences to his superior. The leader offered to save his life if he surrendered the phone to him. Hwang Jun-Ho did not want to. He asked the leader who was he. He took off the mask and showed him the face. The leader was his brother that he was looking for. Hwang Jun-Ho shot his brother for trying to kill him. However, the leader also shot him as he refused to surrender the phone. Hwang Jun-Ho then fall off the cliff into the sea.

Cho Sang-Woo, Seong Gi-Hun and Kang Sae-Byeok were offered a delicious meal and changed into a cloth. After the meal, each of them was given a knife. Kang Sae-Byeok has been badly injured from the 5^th game. She did not look well. Seong Gi-Hun asked her about her condition. He wanted to join hand with her in order to defeat Cho Sang-Woo for the final game. Kang Sae-Byeok talked about her family. She wanted him to promise her that he will take care of her brother at the orphanage home if she happened to die. Seong Gi-Hun later found out that she bleeds a lot and asked the red shirt men for help. Cho Sang-Woo then took this opportunity to kill her.

For the final game, Cho Sang-Woo and Seong Gi-Hun fought with one another. Seong Gi-Hun wanted to give up the game. He begged Cho Sang-Woo to give up too. However, Cho Sang-Woo did not want to. He decided to kill himself so that Seong Gi-Hun can took the money and take care of his mother.

By the time he reached home, he found his mother already passed away at home. He felt guilt and sorry that he could come back earlier. Although Seong Gi-Hun won the game, he refused to use the money. The banker even asked him why he did not touch the money. One year later, Seong Gi-Hun still moved on with the same old life. Player 001 invited him to his resident. Seong Gi-Hun was shocked to see him. He asked him many questions. He could not understand why Player 001 started this game. After answering his questions, Player 001 passed away. He joined that game because he wanted to have fun before he passed away due to brain tumor.

He went to the orphanage home to see Kang Sae-Byeok’s brother. He brought her brother and let Cho Sang-Woo’s mother to take care of him. He also gave the money to Cho Sang-Woo’s mother and saying that this was the money that he owed him.

Seong Gi-Hun started a new life. He planned to visit his daughter at USA. While he was at the MRT station, he saw the recruiter that used to ask him to join to game. He chased him but he already fled. The recruiter gave the same name card to the new member. Seong Gi-Hun stopped him from joining the game. He called up the number and wanted to join the game again. He wanted to find out who was behind the game. He left the airport and determine to join the game again.
