Arisu is an unemployed young man who loves to play online gaming. His father is very disappointed towards him for wasting his time on online gaming. One day, he went out with his buddies, Chōta and Karube.   Suddenly, everybody disappears except for Arisu and his two friends, Chōta and Karube. Tokyo is completely empty. Everything that runs by electric circuit is unable to function. They wonder what has happened to the world. Three of them was surprised when some part of the city lights up. They are shock when they are invited for a game. They never know that they are forced to take part in survival game with their lives at stake until they saw one of the players die in front of them.

During the first game, they met a woman. She told them about the first game that she encountered and she was the only survival for that game. Chōta’s leg was being burnt and he was unfit to play the game. Since they won the first game, four of them have visas that only valid for 3 days. After 3 days without participate in any game, they will be shot by laser. Arisu wanted to find the game master who designed this thriller game.

For the second game, another senior player told them that every card for the game represents the difficulty level as well as the genre of the game. The most difficult game was the one with the heart card. During the second game, Arisu helped a few of players to survive in the game. There, Arisu meets Usagi for the first time.

For the third game, four of them have to play a heart game, which involved killing everyone to survive. Arisu was the only survival for the game. He witnessed his friends die in front of him. He has no idea how to solve this game. Arisu felt sorry and regretful for his friends. He felt lonely and lose of hope. Usagi found him at the street. She motivated him and gave him hope to continue to survive. Arisu shared with Usagi about the walkie talkie that Karube mentioned before. They decided to find a place called the Beach.

They finally found the Beach. However, they have been noticed by them. They captured them. Hatter was the leader of the Beach. The beach is an organization that gathers people together and promotes teamwork so that everyone can return to the original world. Their aim is to collect all the cards as they believed that every complete set of cards can only allow one person to return. Arisu has been tested to participate in the game. He was able to break the code and save everyone.

Hatter has been murdered by Aguni. Hatter and Aguni used to be best friends. However, Aguni found Hatter has been too obsessed with the cards and made him crazy about it. Aguni did not want his friend to become like this, so he killed him.

Chishiya is a mysterious, quiet, and sly player. He only thinks about himself. He joined hand with Arisu and Usagi to steal the complete card from Aguni. However, he betrayed Arisu and Usagi when they have been found out by Aguni. The only card that they left is 10 hearts. It happened that the Beach has became the game station. Everyone was involved in the game. Aguni asked his men to kill anyone who refused to admit who is the witch that killed one of their members, Momoka Inoue. They started to kill almost everyone of them. Arusi found a solution to end this game. Everyone started to believe him when the forensic woman backup his statement.

Momoka Inoue and Asahi Kujō are best friend. Asahi Kujō revealed that she was the dealer of the game. She has been shot to dead by the laser. Everyone was stunted. Arisu found Asahi’s handphone. Asahi used to film everything happened in Tokyo. She revealed that there is someone from the top asked them to become the dealer of the game. They felt sorry to see someone being killed just for them to survive. Arisu and Usagi went to the railway station as mentioned in Asahi’s video. They found a number of people who control the setting of the game being murdered. They realized that they are someone else who is the real game master. The only card left for the game is the face card. In order to collect those cards, they have to move on to another stage of the game.

Jung Jin has been fired from her job. She also has been dumped by her boyfriend. Her mother decided to use her saving for running a restaurant with her. They bought the restaurant from their neighbor. They never thought that the neighbor scammed their money and opened up a new restaurant next to them. Soon after, their business went bankrupt. They have no other choice but to rent out the restaurant as soon as possible.

Jo Hee-Ra is a witch would make food that grants a customer's wish. In exchange for granting their wish, the customers would give Jo Hee-Ra something that she wants from them. At night, Jo Hee-Ra came to her restaurant and offered to grant her a wish. In exchange, she wanted her restaurant. Jung Jin wanted a revenge against her neighbor. The next day, she was shocked to find out that her neighbor passed away. she couldn’t believe that her reckless wish would actually come true. She was regretful for what she wishing for.

Lee Gil-Yong, a high-school student, used to be an athlete for runner. Due to his injury, he has to give up his hope. He has a good friend, Choi Young-Jae. Choi Young-Jae always being bullied by a gang of students. Lee Gil-Yong tried to help him out. Choi Young-Jae also thought of giving up his life instead of letting the students to bully him. Lee Gil-Yong listened to his friend and try to help him in away he can.

Lee Gil-Yong also wanted to jump off the building for being disappointed to enter the university as an athlete. Luckily, Choi Young-Jae called him and told him that he decided not to sit back anymore. That’s also changed Lee Gil-Yong’s mind. He came to the restaurant and made a wish. He wished he could stay with Jung Jin forever. He did not want any revenge against those who bullied him

Jung Jin soon works with Jo Hee-Ra and the restaurant becomes popular. Jo Hee-Ra also hired another part timer, Lee Gil-Yong. Jo Hee-Ra was surprised when Jung Jin was able to read the words on her spells. Jung Jin started to have nightmare after she made a wish to revenge her neighbor. She was greatly regretful.

Suddenly, they have a customer. He was a fresh graduate who struggled to find a decent job. He could not be able to pay off his study loan and land a proper job too. He also has been kicked out by the owner for not paying his rental. He came to the restaurant to steal money. He accidentally cut Jung Jin’s hand. Jung Jin suddenly able to read his memory. Jo Hee-Ra offered him to make a wish. He wished that he could get a job. In return, he has to sacrifice his two fingers. While he was trying to rescue a woman, the man cut his two fingers and therefore he has been hospitalized. Thereafter, someone was looking for him. A big corporation would like to hire him. He was so happy with the decision that he made.

The landlord, heard from him and she would like to make a wish too. She wished that she could see her son to get marry. In return, she has to give up her memories in exchange for that wish. Jung Jin found that exchange was just too much for the landlord. She even had an argument with the witch. The witch told her that they cannot determine their happiness. Only the customer himself will determine it. The witch asked her to see until the end before she argued at her. Jung Jin felt sorry and apologized to the landlord for taking away her memory. The landlord told her that it was not her fault. She was happy with that lost of memory. The witch has fulfilled her wish and she was really happy about it. The son of the landlord found a woman and they were going to get marry soon. He invited Jung Jin to attend his wedding. Jung Jin greatly accepted it.

Jung Jin had a boyfriend, Tom Kim, who was a celebrity. Jung Jin found out that Tom Kim has cheated her. He was already married with a daughter. Jung Jin was heart-broken. She decided to breakup. However, Tom Kim came to her house and threatened her. Luckily, Lee Gil-Yong came to rescue her. He punched Tom Kim at his face. Jung Jin quickly called the policeman to come over. They made a police report against Tom Kim for assaulting her.

Jung Jin always makes a same dream. She dreamed about her younger days where she was lost in the woods. Someone has offered her some candies and hold her hand. She finally able to recall that it was the witch. The witch was her real mother. Jung Jin told her foster mother that she remembered everything. She knew that she was not her real daughter when she overheard her foster mother conversation with her friends.

Jung Jin came to see the witch. The witch offered her made a wish. Jung Jin told her that she remembered everything and knew that she was her real mother. The witch told her about her past. She was in love with Jung Jin’s father when she was young. She later found out that she was being cheated by her father. She then cursed his child to become unhappy and faced unfortunate things just like her, before she became the witch. She later found out that she was pregnant with a child. She wanted to reverse the curse and it was too late. She has no choice but to send the child to Jung Jin’s foster mother.

Jung Jin decided to make another wish to punish her ex-boyfriend. The witch worried that she might curse Tom Kim just like her. Jung Jin in fact wanted him to be conscience and loyal to his family. She did not curse him, but she wanted to make him feel uneasy for the rest of his life. She also did not mess with his family members.

Jung Jin’s foster mother unable to bear a child. She was happy when the witch handed Jung Jin to her. She was happy with every moment spent with Jung JIn. The witch offered her to come over to the house to have some party. The witch was glad that Jung Jin’s foster mother took good care of her daughter.

Lee Gil-Yong talked a lot with Mr Oh about becoming a supporter of the Witch. Lee Gil-Yong decided to study hard in finance, legal and accounting so that he has be helpful for Jung Jin. Lee Gil-Yong’s mother once came to see the witch to make a wish. She wished that Lee Gil-Yong can grow up happily and successful.

The witch decided to leave the restaurant for a few days. She handled the restaurant to Jung Jin to run. Jung Jin was now becoming a witch. She makes dishes for the customer who come to make wish. She will become a different witch compare to her mother.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North

During her childhood, Ashin lived in the Northern village of Seongjeoyain with her ill mother, and her father, Ta Hab who was one of the Jurchen people living in Joseon and also the head of their settlement. Tensions were high between Joseon, the central kingdom, and the Jurchen border tribes of Pajeowi. The Pajeowi had gathered their army at the basin of the Pajero River.

When 15 Pajeowi Jurchen men enter the forbidden area known as Pyesa-gun to illegally gather wild ginseng, they all die unexpectedly. It is revealed that Cho Beom-il, a high-ranking member of the Haewon Cho clan, orchestrated the deaths of the Jurchen men. The Deputy Commander of the Chupajin group, Min Chi-rok investigated the deaths of the Jurchen and discovered Cho's involvement, he traveled to the Seongjeoyain village to conduct damage control and prevent a conflict against the Kingdom by the Pajeowi. Min Chi-rok spread the message that the deaths were due to a tiger attack but some villagers remained skeptical.

During a meeting with Ta Hab, the Commander requests him to travel to the bordering Pajeowi tribe and spread the message, that the attack was caused by a tiger who killed the men. Ta Hab agreed to the mission as he had pledged his loyalty to Joseon and hoping his actions will grant Seongjeoyain governmental representation, improving the lives of its people. This was later revealed to be a ruse conspired by the Commander, to strategically protect the interests of the Kingdom.

On a false hunt for the alleged tiger, the Commander encounters some Pajeowi soldiers and informs the group, that the attackers of the Pajeowi men were killed by the villagers of Seongjeoyain. This act later diverts the Pajeowi 's hostility towards the village of Seongjeoyain. Afterwards, the Pajeowi military led by Ai Da Gan, attacks Seongjeoyain in the middle of the night, massacring the inhabitants. Prior to the attack on the village, Ashin finds the resurrection plant in a hidden cave shrine and reads the ancient mural to understand its properties and effects, to tend to her terminally ill mother. Upon returning to the village, she finds that it has been burned to the ground and all the villagers killed. Unbeknownst to Ashin, her father was taken hostage by the Pajeowi military.

Being the sole survivor of the massacre, Ashin goes to the Commander and begs for a chance to avenge her family. He places her in a military settlement post, where she begins to perform odd jobs while training in the woodlands. Years later, she was told by the Commander to spy on the military camp of Pajeowi. While infiltrating the camp, Ashin finds her father held as a prisoner, with his limbs amputated. Ta Hab begs his daughter to kill him to end his misery. Ashin complies and sets the camp on fire before going back to the settlement. Prior to her return to the military settlement, the Commander was summoned to return to the South to deal with the war against the Japanese forces, leaving his Second-in-command and soldiers behind. Soon after, Ashin reads the records inside the Commander's hut, implicating the Commander of framing the Seongjeoyain village for the Jurchen deaths' at Pyesa-gun, leading to the eventual massacre of her village.

Ashin prepares to take revenge against the Kingdom of Joseon. After night falls, she kills several Joseon soldiers as they sleep and uses the resurrection plant to bring them back as zombies. While the zombies rampage around the camp, Ashin kills any soldiers, with her bow and arrows, who manage to escape or lock themselves beyond the zombies' reach. Using the last soldier as bait, she attracted the zombies together and then burns them, effectively killing all the soldiers and zombies in the camp. Ashin is then seen dragging a giant sack back to her village which looks normal. She then enters her old house which was filled with her family and some villagers. She was awakened to zombie snarls which brings her to the present where the village is burned down and the house is filled with zombies chained to the back of the house. It is revealed that after the massacre of her village, she had converted her family and some villagers into zombies. Ashin had been feeding them animals for years but felt that they deserved better food and fed them with a soldier she had carried with her in the sack. She vowed to destroy Joseon and the Jurchen to avenge them and joined them when she is done.

Ashin leaves to meet Lee Seung-hui, the Joseon King's physician at the border in Uiji. She sells him the resurrection plant, setting in motion, the events that would later occur in the "Battle of Unpo Wetland" and the tragedy that would come to pass at Dongnae. After exiting the city, Ashin walks into an open field, and later witnesses Ai Da Gan and his Pajeowi brethren riding horses in the distance. The Pajeowi riders approach Ashin and she shoots an arrow without hesitation.

Jung Saet-Byul used to be a good fighter. She learned Taekwondo from her father since she was young. Kang Ji-Wook, who was a close friend of Jung Saet-Byul, has becomes a celebrity. He used to learn Taekwondo from her father too.

Choi Dae-Hyun’s girlfriend, Yoo Yeon-Joo was jealous when he hired a pretty part timer. she even asked her boyfriend to fire his part timer. One day, Yoo Yeon-Joo has been bullied by a group of girls in the washroom. Jung Saet-Byul rescued her from being bullied. However, she accused her for trying to beat her in the washroom which leaded to misunderstanding among Choi Dae-Hyun and Jung Saet-Byul. After finding out the truth, he truly sorry for not investigate the matter properly to Jung Saet-Byul.

Jung Saet-Byul was the best employee of month. There are reporters came to his store to interview her. Due to the photo of Choi Dae-Hyun piggybacked Jung Saet-Byul was spread in Yoo Yeon-Joo’s office, she was extremely angry about it.

The girls hit Jung Saet-Byul’s head and she passed out. Choi Dae-Hyun saw her lying on the floor. However, she claimed that her stomach pain. Jung Saet-Byul needed to undergo surgery due to appendix issue. She has been hospitalized for a couple of days.

Yoo Yeon-Joo’s mother found out that Choi Dae-Hyun was her daughter’s boyfriend. She looked down on him due to his poor background. Choi Dae-Hyun felt hurt about it. Yoo Yeon-Joo tried to explain to him, but she could not find him anywhere. She then came to meet Jung Saet-Byul at the hospital. Choi Dae-Hyun was surprised with her decision. He wanted her to come back to work. Even his family member treats her as part of the family member. Unfortunately, Jung Saet-Byul has been scammed by the real estate agent. She has no other place to stay. She has no choice but to find another job with higher salary. She and her sister stayed at her friend’s house. Jung Saet-Byul worked as a rider. However, she met an accident. She cannot there anymore. Choi Dae-Hyun bought a musical ticket. He wanted to watch the show with his girlfriend. However, his girlfriend has another event need to attend. Choi Dae-Hyun wanted to change the date but could not. He then passed the ticket to his parent, but they did not want to. In the end, he watched the show alone. Yoo Yeon-Joo felt sorry for him.

Choi Dae-Hyun was surprised when he realized that Jung Saet-Byul was at his house. He has no idea why she stayed at his house. After hearing from his sister, Choi Dae-Hyun helped Jung Saet-Byul to find the real property estate agent. Choi Dae-Hyun also bought another ticket for the show. He was really excited to watch the show with his girlfriend. However, Yoo Yeon-Joo did not feel great about it. She also refused to take picture with the director because the director recognized her. She felt being in a relationship with Choi Dae-Hyun was difficult.

Jo Seung-Joon was in love with Yoo Yeon-Joo. He tried to persuade her to leave Choi Dae-Hyun. He did not want to see her in hurt. Yoo Yeon-Joo was agreed with him. And she was having affair with him behind her boyfriend.

Since Jung Saet-Byul won the best employee of the month, she came to the office to claim for the prize. Jo Seung-Joon told her that he watched the first show with Yoo Yeon-Joo. Jung Saet-Byul felt that Yoo Yeon-Joo was cheating Choi Dae-Hyun. Yoo Yeon-Joo awake after Jung Saet-Byul talked to her. Yoo Yeon-Joo decided to find Choi Dae-Hyun. She went to his house. Kong Boon-Hee called Choi Dae-Hyun to inform him that his girlfriend was at his house. Choi Dae-Hyun tried to reach his mother but failed. He did not want to cause misunderstand because Jung Saet-Byul was staying at his house. Unfortunately, Jung Saet-Byul came home just in time. Yoo Yeon-Joo was surprised to see her at his house. Kong Boon-Hee told Yoo Yeon-Joo that Jung Saet-Byul was staying at her house. She became furious and left his house.

Choi Dae-Hyun tried to win his girlfriend but he could not. Yoo Yeon-Joo decided to break up with him. Choi Dae-Hyun came to her house to meet her. However, she was not in. He met her mother instead. Kim Hye-Ja (Yoo Yeon-Joo’s mother) looked down on him. She purposed hired his father as the driver and also purchased insurance from his mother. Kong Boon-Hee and Choi Yong-Pil did not know that Kim Hye-Ja was Yoo Yeon-Joo’s mother. They just found themselves lucky.

Jung Saet-Byul did not want to cause any trouble for Choi Dae-Hyun, so she decided to leave his house. She stayed at her friend’s house temporary. Kang Ji-Wook came to the convenience store to meet Jung Saet-Byul. He only realized that she quit the job and also has no place to stay. He offered her to stay at his house. Kang Ji-Wook also helped her to find her sister. Because he was a celebrity, the paparazzi followed him and took Jung Saet-Byul and his picture. Kang Ji-Wook found her sister. He told Jung Saet-Byul that her sister worked in a decent agency. Jung Saet-Byul came to see her sister and asked her to take care of herself.

Kang Ji-Wook’s manager realized that Jung Saet-Byul stayed at his house. He asked her to leave before she ruined his career. Jung Saet-Byul packed all her things and left a message for him. She has no place to go. Suddenly, Choi Dae-Hyun gave her a call and asked her to stay at his house. Jung Saet-Byul was extremely happy about it.

Choi Dae-Hyun realized that Yoo Yeon-Joo not really honest about her true identity. He came to her house to meet her. He found out that his father worked for her family. It hurts his father’s pride. Choi Dae-Hyun left the place. Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother was just nearby. She witnessed everything from far. She felt sorry and ashamed for her son. She let Yoo Yeon-Joo’s signed the insurance contract and left.

Jung Saet-Byul heard that Choi Dae-Hyun and Yoo Yeon-Joo broke up. She quickly went to meet him at the beach. She revealed why she fell in love with him.  However, he fell asleep, he did not hear anything. Jung Saet-Byul was extremely happy that she has the opportunity to be with him. Choi Dae-Hyun also decided to hire her as a permanent staff of convenient store.

Kang Ji-Wook worried about Jung Saet-Byul after she left his place. He went to the convenient store to look for her. He was jealous when she smiled brightly with Choi Dae-Hyun. Yoo Yeon-Joo wanted Kang Ji-Wook to promote their convenient store. Kang Ji-Wook chosen Jung Saet-Byul’s convenient store.

During the shoot day, Kang Ji-Wook sensed something off between Yoo Yeon-Joo and Choi Dae-Hyun. Jung Saet-Byul told him that they have broken up. Kang Ji-Wook warned Choi Dae-Hyun not to use Jung Saet-Byul as an excuse to chase his girlfriend away. He told him that he liked Jung Saet-Byul.

Yoo Yeon-Joo found out the reason why Choi Dae-Hyun left the headquarter office. He took the blame to cover her mistakes. She felt sorry for him. She persuaded the CEO to allow him to get back to the headquarter. Although Jung Saet-Byul was jealous, she has faith on him. Choi Dae-Hyun has no intention to go back to the headquarter. After being persuaded by his mother and Jung Saet-Byul, he agreed to work at headquarter office again. Yoo Yeon-Joo wanted to get back to Choi Dae-Hyun, but he did not want to.

Jung Eun-Byul has been blackmailed by the three bullies. They threatened her to release those photos to the public if she failed to give them money. Jung Saet-Byul found out about it. She tried to talk to them. However, they beat her up. Kang Ji-Wook treated her wound. She was touched. The three bullies thought that Jung Saet-Byul called the police. They decided to release all the photos to blackmailed her. Jung Eun-Byul has been questioned by her agency about the photos and also the guardian identity. This incident also affected Kang Ji-Wook’s reputation. In order to put thing back, Jung Saet-Byul went to meet the bullies and got the evidence to clear their names. She approached the reporter to report on the true facts about their relationship and cleared their names. At last, the reporter wrote an article to clear their names and they are happy about it.

Kang Ji-Wook came to meet Jung Saet-Byul at the convenient store. He told her that he was going to leave the country to further his career. Jung Saet-Byul supported him heartedly. Choi Dae-Hyun afraid that the headquarter might sent another manager to bully Jung Saet-Byul. He told her to report to him if the new manager bullies her.

The policeman managed to catch the real estate agents and Jung Saet-Byul finally able to her money back. She wondered if she was going to tell Choi Dae-Hyun. Choi Dae-Hyun fell sick due to overwork as a consultant and as a store owner. Yoo Yeon-Joo offered to buy his store so that Choi Dae-Hyun can focus on his career as a consultant. She convinced his mother and Jung Saet-Byul to surrender the store back to the office and then they will get back their investment.

Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother was happy about it because she finally able to see her son get a high salary job and lived a better life.

Hong Jang-Mi came to South Korea to meet Choi Dae-Hyun’s father. She was his first love and also Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother’s best friend. Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother did not want to meet her best friend because she left without leaving a word for her. when Hong Jang-Mi asked about Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother, he was hesitated to tell her. Hong Jang-Mi returned the money back to him. She wanted to meet Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother before she left again.

Jung Saet-Byul studied for her GED and took an examination. Choi Dae-Hyun used to be her teacher to help for in her exam. He also prepared her study area in the store for her. He also confessed his feeling for Jung Saet-Byul. However, Jung Saet-Byul did not give him the answer until she completed her GED.

Choi Dae-Hyun and Jung Saet-Byul was surprised when they saw Hong Jang-Mi at their store. They tried to hide her from Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother. Unfortunately, she found out about it. She was really angry towards her husband for hiding from her. Hong Jang-Mi gave her a letter before she left South Korea. It was the letter she tried to send but returned back to her in the past. She read the letter and felt that she lived in a poorer live compared to Hong Jang-Mi. She was really upset about it and had a drink at a shop. Yoo Yeon-Joo called her up to tell her about the contract. Yoo Yeon-Joo joined her for a drink.

The next morning, Choi Dae-Hyun’s mother asked her son to meet up with Yoo Yeon-Joo. He just followed his mother’s instruction. When Yoo Yeon-Joo opened up to get back to him, Choi Dae-Hyun refused to accept her. He told her that he wanted to remain their relationship as colleague.
