Kim Min-Chae is a ballerina. She saw her competitor performed better than her and she thought that she was going to lost anyway. She decided to give up on ballet. Kim Min-Chae threw away her shoes and ran away to her grandmother’s house. Her mother, Na Hee-Do tried to encourage her not to give, but she refused to listen.

Kim Min-Chae saw a diary in her mother’s drawer. She read it up.

It was back in 1994, Na Hee-Do is a member of her high school fencing team. Although she did not perform well, she still in love with fencing. Every Saturday, she went to another high school to watch Ko Yu-Rim training. Ko Yu-Rim was her idol, who won the gold medalist in fencing. She was obsessed with her. Due to the South Korean financial crisis, the high school fencing team gets disbanded. In order to continue her dream to become a fencing national team, she decided to transfer to Ko Yu-Rim’s school. She begged her coach to accept her. After numerous attempts, she failed get herself transferred school. Due to her determination, her mother, Shin Jae-Kyung, who was anchor, she got Na Hee-Do transferred to Ko Yu-Rim’s school so that she can continued her fencing training.

Na Hee-Do met a guy, Back Yi-Jin, whom he worked many part-time jobs in her neighborhood. The South Korean financial crisis also causes Back Yi-Jin’s father's business to go bankrupt. This leads to a life change for Back Yi-Jin, from living the life of a wealthy person to a poor person. While studying, he works part-time jobs like delivery newspapers, worked at the rented bookstore etc.

Back Yi-Jin was attached to Na Hee-Do. He found her an amazing person who always cherish for what she had. He also learnt a lot from her too. Back Yi-Jin felt encouraged whenever he was with her. Na Hee-Do also saw the creditors who came to his place to look for him. they spoke those harsh words and demanded money from him. Even though he went for numerous interviews, he failed every each of them. He was desperate and wanted to find a proper job in order to clear their debts. Na Hee-Do was unable to help him financially, but she gave him mentally strength and support for him.

Na Hee-Do was really happy when she finally entered the same school as Ko Yu-Rim. She never expected that Ko Yu-Rim actually disliked her. She was kind of disappointed. During the training, they also being bullied by their senior for training after 11pm. Na Hee-Do did not think that training at night was actually wrong. After being scolded by her coach, she finally thought of a way to handle the issue. She asked everyone to train at night together.

Na Hee-Do used to communicate with her messenger friend. Both of them did not know each other. However, they chat with each other regarding their feelings and thoughts. They promised one another not to share their personal information or meet with one another. However, Na Hee-Do never knew that her messenger friend was Ko Yu-Rim.

Ko Yu-Rim was closed to Back Yi-Jin. His father company sponsored her for fencing. She was glad that the company has been supporting them until the financial crisis occurs. Although Back Yi-Jin became poor, she still being friend with him. Ko Yu-Rim was unhappy when she saw Na Hee-Do and Back Yi-Jin together. Back Yi-Jin has no feeling for her. He treated her as his junior.

Back Yi-Jin has been staying at Ji Seung-Wan’s house. He rented a room there. Ji Seung-Wan did not know until one day she saw the shirt that Back Yi-Jin wore and also the tape recording of Back Yi-Jin in broadcasting club. Ji Seung-Wan was the class monitor. She was the number one student in the class. She joined broadcasting club and she was closed with Moon Ji-Woong and Na Hee-Do.

Moon Ji-Woong was secretly in love with Ko Yu-Rim. He asked Na Hee-Do to give Ko Yu-Rim her favorite drink every day. Even though Na Hee-Do dislike Ko Yu-Rim, she has no choice but needed Moon Ji-Woong help to teach her how to dance. One day, Ko Yu-Rim found out that Na Hee-Do has been putting her favorite drink in her cupboard. She misunderstood that Na Hee-Do was a hypocrite person. After hearing from Moon Ji-Woong, she realized mistake.

Due to Na Hee-Do hard work and also with her coach guidance, she managed to secure a place in national team. Back Yi-Jin also believed in her and gave her strength to compete before she joined the competition. Her effort finally paid off. These has shocked Ko Yu-Rim and her mother. Ko Yu-Rim started to worry and scared of Na Hee-Do due to her childhood memory that she lost to her.

Na Hee-Do was happy after she won the competition. She was too excited and wanted to tell Back Yi-Jin about it. However, she realized that he has gone. He left a fencing sword at her house. He coloured both blue and red (represent national team) to encourage her to become the best fencer. The next day, she realized that he has moved out from Ji Seung-Wan’s house as well. She was upset but she also rooted for him to find a better place to work.

Back Yi-Jin and his brother went to stay with her mother, because the creditors also looking for his brother to ask for money. In order to avoid them, Back Yi-Jin decided to stay for the time being. He continued to find a job but he failed. In order to live, he has to work at the market.

Due to Na Hee-Do achievement, she was going to stay at the national sport school for training. Before she left, she borrowed some of the tape recording of Back Yi-Jin. She needed to hear his voice in order to gain strength. She worked really hard the training center and also won a medal at the competition. She also left a voice message for Back Yi-Jin every day. After working, Back Yi-Jin also listened to Na Hee-Do message every day. He was proud of her when he watched her at the television.

Back Yi-Jin decided to went back to Seoul as he promised Na Hee-Do that he will come back. He bought her favourite comic Full House Episode 15 for her. He worked as a trainee at UBS broadcasting station. It was the place where Na Hee-Do’s mother works too.

Back Yi-Jin saw Na Hee-Do at the street. He chased for her. Na Hee-Do also surprised to see him there too. She invited him to meet her new boyfriend whom she dated for 3 days. Back Yi-Jin was surprised when Na Hee-Do mention about her boyfriend who was also a fencer.

Later, Back Yi-Jin becomes a sports reporter for a broadcasting network. He went to the Asian Games where Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim were going to compete with one another at the final. Na Hee-Do knew that everyone was rooting for Ko Yu-Rim and hoping that she will win the match. However, Na Hee-Do         also determined to become her rival.

Before the final match began, Na Hee-Do realized that her bag has been switched with another contestant. She was nervous and quickly contacted her opponent. Luckily, she was able to get her sword back. While she was on her way back to the competition, the trained has been delayed. Back Yi-Jin heard from his colleague that the train has been delayed. It reminded him that Na Hee-Do was also in the train as well. He rushed to the train station to look for her. He also personally brought her to the stadium. He had a brief interview with her and wished her best of luck. Na Hee-Do told him that she has broken up with his boyfriend because she wanted to experience the feeling of broken up between couple. Back Yi-Jin was shocked to hear from her.

During the final match, Na Hee-Do managed to defeat Ko Yu-Rim. However, Ko Yu-Rim was unsatisfied with the referee’s result. She cried at the podium and said in front of the reporters that it was a bad call. When the reporters interviewed Na Hee-Do, she was really unhappy with their questions. The nation claimed that Na Hee-Do stole the gold medal from Ko Yu-Rim. Na Hee-Do left the press conference on the spot and left the gold medal there. She was frustrated and angry towards Ko Yu-Rim for making her gold medal not honorable. Both of them argued with one another and Na Hee-Do left the team and walked alone in the street.

Back Yi-Jin was worried about Na Hee-Do. He tried to correct what his senior reported in the news. He also tried to look for her. Finally, he managed to find her at unknown town. Na Hee-Do wanted to be alone, but he scolded her for her wrong doing at the press conference. He persuaded her to come back to the training center.

Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim have been kicked out from training center. They were going faced disciplinary action from the national team. Na Hee-Do saw Ko Yu-Rim’s father came to fetch her. she suddenly missed her father. Her father passed away since she was young. She went to the store to have some food. Then, she watched the news presented by Back Yi-Jin. Back Yi-Jin managed to have an interview with the referee to correct the situation. The old man at the restaurant recognized Na Hee-Do. they congratulated her and encouraged her to move forward. Na Hee-Do was pleased that Back Yi-Jin had helped her to clear her name.

Na Hee-Do has no way to go. She went to the school and decided to stay at the secret classroom. Suddenly, the guard locked up the door. Na Hee-Do wanted to go to the bathroom but she couldn’t. She called Back Yi-Jin for help. At the same time, she listened to Back Yi-Jin’s recording. Back Yi-Jin looked for Moon Ji-Woong and Ji Seung-Wan in order to help Na Hee-Do to open the door. All of them was shocked when they listened to the recording of Back Yi-Jin confessing his love to another girl.

Na Hee-Do was a bit jealous toward Back Yi-Jin. She continued to talk to her messenger friend. Ko Yu-Rim suggested to meet up with one another. To a surprise, Ko Yu-Rim never expected that Na Hee-Do was her messenger friend. She hid herself and left Back Yi-Jin there. Back Yi-Jin accompanied her as she mentioned about meeting messenger’s friend. Na Hee-Do thought that Back Yi-Jin was that friend, she was emotional and said that I have to had him. Back Yi-Jin explained that he was not the one she was going to meet. Na Hee-Do felt embarrassed and quickly went home.

Ko Yu-Rim heard that the kids bad mouthed about her in the washroom. Na Hee-Do was there too. She fought with the kids for badmouthing Ko Yu-Rim. Ko Yu-Rim was touched and also fought with the kids as well. Ko Yu-Rim admitted that she was her messenger’s friend. From that moment onwards, both of them became closer to one another.

UBS broadcasting was planning to film a documentary of Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim. Back Yi-Jin decided to take up the task. He talked to them and respected their opinion before they release the documentary. During the interview, Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim mentioned that they never went to school trip like other kids do. Back Yi-Jin planned a trip and brought Na Hee-Do, Ko Yu-Rim, Moon Ji-Woong and Ji Seung-Wan to a trip together.

Back Yi-Jin was rushing to home to report his news to the broadcasting. He bypassed Na Hee-Do’s house. Na Hee-Do invited him to come to her house to do the report. Later, Na Hee-Do’s mother came back and she was surprised when she saw Back Yi-Jin at her house. She shared her experience and warned Back Yi-Jin to transferred to another department so that it won’t hurt their relationship.

Back Yi-Jin started to like this career after he saw how Na Hee-Do’s mother professionally deliver the news although she was drunk. He was amazed on her. He became the sport reporter. He was happy and wanted to treat Na Hee-Do a nice meal since she was the one who make him change. He also confessed his feeling towards her. However, Na Hee-Do felt that there is no word to describe their relationship. It is complicated.

In order to bring Ko Yu-Rim to Moon Ji-Woong’s concert, he begged Back Yi-Jin for help. Back Yi-Jin used the interview matter as an excuse to bring Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim to the concert. Everyone was happy about it. Moon Ji-Woong also asked Ko Yu-Rim out and Ko Yu-Rim also agreed with it.

Na Hee-Do saw the chairs made by her father was not in good condition. She told her mother about it. Her mother also promised her that they will go the carpenter to fix the chairs. However, that day, her mother was having a team dinner and also have to report on news flash. Na Hee-Do waited for her mother at home. In the end, she decided to take those chairs to the carpenter by herself.  One of the chairs fall and broken. Her mother was on her way home and saw the incident. She scolded Na Hee-Do for carrying those chairs to carpenter during raining day. Na Hee-Do argued with her that she did not really care about her father and she also never mentioned about him ever since he passed away. The next day, Na Hee-Do realized that all the chairs has gone. She was really upset. Back Yi-Jin saw her while he was on the way home. She told him everything. Back Yi-Jin comforted her to make a new one similar to her father’s.

Na Hee-Do went to the carpenter with her savings. She wanted to learn carpentry with the carpenter. She never thought that making a furniture was that hard. Suddenly, she saw those chairs and she recognized them right away. The carpenter explained that those were the chair that brought by Na Hee-Do’s mother who asked her to repair. Na Hee-Do was sorry to her mother. Earlier in the morning, she even ignored her mother. Her mother asked her to get ready so that they can visit her father’s tomb. They promised one another that they will visit him often from now on.

Na Hee-Do planned to join the National team rather than entering the college. However, her mother against the idea. She talked to Ko Yu-Rim about it. Ko Yu-Rim decided to join the National team in order to earn more money for the family.   

Ji Seung-Wan stopped a teacher who constantly abused students. She called the policeman. However, the policeman could not do anything about it. Ji Seung-Wan then broadcasted the incident in her private broadcasting radio. She mentioned the school’s name as well as the teacher’s name. The teacher gave her two options: 1) drop out of the school 2) write an apologized letter and read them in front of the students. Ji Seung-Wan decided to drop out of the school because she can’t apologize to the teacher. Although it was a waste that she was unable to finish her study, she was happy with her decision. In the end of the day, Na Hee-Do and Moon Ji-Woong attended the college entrance exam.

Na Hee-Do, Back Yi-Jin, Ko Yu-Rim, Moon Ji-Woong and Ji Seung-Wan used to gather at Back Yi-Jin’s room. They talked about the end of the world. Right before they entered year 2000, Na Hee-Do kissed Back Yi-Jin. She wanted to do that and she has no regret about it. however, Back Yi-Jin stepped back and tried to draw line between them. Na Hee-Do could not understand and asked him why. He just explained that he loved her just like how he cared about her. Na Hee-Do did not give up, she kept coming to his house and looked for him. Back Yi-Jin was waver towards her and started to begin their relationship. They told their friends about it.

Ko Yu-Rim’s father hit a student and the student lay in the hospital. Her family has to bear the cost for the medication as well as compensation to the family. Ko Yu-Rim was upset when she saw her family arguing over money matter. She decided to change her nationality so that she can earn more money for her family to settle their debts. This decision was difficult.

Ko Yu-Rim told her friends about it. To be honest, she did not want to leave either. Back Yi-Jin heard the news and he tried to approach Ko Yu-Rim. He did not want to report on her news. However, as a reporter, he has no other choice. He felt embarrassed to face everyone. Na Hee-Do scolded him for reported the news which really hurt Ko Yu-Rim. Since the news outbreak, everyone was trying to contact her. The reporters followed her everywhere. The nation also scolded her being a traitor for giving up her nationality.

Ko Yu-Rim told Moon Ji-Woong don’t live for her. She wanted him to love others if he met ones. She could not be able to promise him anything as she did not know when she will be back to Korea again. Moon Ji-Woong did not give up on her. He worked several part-time jobs to earn more money so that he can fly to there to meet her.

Everyone said goodbye to Ko Yu-Rim except for Back Yi-Jin. Back Yi-Jin cried alone as he can choose between work and life. He was once tried to transfer to another department to work, but his boss rejected it. He never expected that this day will come. Na Hee-Do’s coach also talked to him about her past experience with Na Hee-Do’s mother. They used to be close friend, but they friendship broken after Na Hee-Do’s mother reported on the bribe case of her.

Back Yi-Jin felt guilty and did not know what to do. He was surprised to see Na Hee-Do standing in front of him. Na Hee-Do understood how he felt and she also apologized to him for what she said earlier. They both comforted one another and promised to stay together forever.

After Ko Yu-Rim moved to Russia, she still kept in touch with Na Hee-Do through email. Na Hee-Do also shared with her about what happened in Korea. Moon Ji-Woong started his fashion blog and Ji Seung-Wan also attended college. One day, Ko Yu-Rim did not reply Na Hee-Do. Na Hee-Do wondered what had happened to her. However, she understood what she had gone through. Na Hee-Do was stressed when her coach kept pushing her to win the gold medal. Same goes to After Ko Yu-Rim as well. In the final competition in Madrid, despite Hee-do's victory, their sincere friendship attracted media attention and deeply touched the audiences.

Na Hee-Do’s mother and Back Yi-Jin were happy for her. they decided to celebrate her victory together. Unfortunately, Back Yi-Jin was unable to come due to work issue. Na Hee-Do’s mother asked her whether will she be okay to be in such relationship. Back Yi-Jin always said sorry to Na Hee-Do for disappointing her due to his work. Na Hee-Do told her mother that she got used to it since her mother was an anchor too.

Back Yi-Jin planned a trip with Na Hee-Do. On that day, Na Hee-Do was very excited and waited for him at the train station. Back Yi-Jin gave her a call and cancelled the trip due to incident happened in New York. He kept apologized to her and also informed her that he was going to fly the next day. Although Na Hee-Do was disappointed, she still supported her boyfriend.

Back Yi-Jin was busy to cover the news of 911 incident. He had a hard time there and took medicine for sleep. He was stressed and depressed too. Both of them has lesser time to talk to one another. As time passed, Na Hee-Do and Back Yi-Jin’s relationship started to drift apart. Back Yi-Jin decided to apply a permanent job at New York. He came back to Korea for a short while to pack his things. He mistakenly took Na Hee-Do’s bag at the airport. Na Hee-Do also just came back from oversea. He returned her bag at her house. Na Hee-Do expressed that both of them has drifted apart and she wanted to break up with him. Back Yi-Jin could not understand, and he tried to get back to her. However, he decided to let go as well.

During the gathering, Na Hee-Do told her friends that she and Back Yi-Jin have broken up. Everyone was shocked to hear that. Na Hee-Do bought a new handphone. She wanted to cut the original couple plan. However, the salesperson told her that they needed both of them to sign the cancellation contract in order to sign up a new one. Na Hee-Do called up Back Yi-Jin to settle the matter. While they were on their way back, Back Yi-Jin suddenly exploded. He wanted an explanation from Na Hee-Do for their break up. Na Hee-Do told him that they were only couple during good day and they blamed one another during bad times.

Na Hee-Do did not contact Back Yi-Jin anymore. One day, she fell sick due to break up. She wrote her thought in her diary. She did not mean to say those things to him. She was glad to have him by her side. Na Hee-Do dropped her diary in the bus. Someone took the diary and sent it to Back Yi-Jin. Back Yi-Jin was surprised to read Na Hee-Do. He also wrote his though on her diary. He passed the diary to the bookstore owner to return to Na Hee-Do. However, the owner only returned to her after 20 years.

Back Yi-Jin was going to leave Korea. Na Hee-Do went to the bus stop to see him for the last time. Both of them hugged and cried for one another. 7 years later, Back Yi-Jin returned to Korea. He bought a new apartment for his family to stay. Na Hee-Do’s mother was going to retire. She recommended Back Yi-Jin to take over her place. Back Yi-Jin became the anchor for UBS. His first appearance was interviewing Na Hee-Do won the gold won in oversea.

Ko Yu-Rim has retired 2 years ago. She opened a fencing club and earned a lot of money. Moon Ji-Woong ran his own fashion business as well. Both of them was going to marry soon. Na Hee-Do already married. She planned to retire after wining the gold medal. Ji Seung-Wan, who worked as an assistant producer. She received a call regarding her father’s passed away. All her friend attended the funeral. Back Yi-Jin came late and he missed to chance to meet everyone.

Kim Min-Chae finally finished reading her mother’s diary. She was inspired by her mother’s determination for sport. She decided to continue her ballet class. Na Hee-Do was proud of her daughter and hope that she can experience those wonderful moment with her friends.

Shin Ha-Ri lives with her family, Shin Joong-Hae, Han Mi-Mo and a brother, Shin Ha-Min. Her family runs a fried chicken business. She used to help her family when she was free. She has a crush on her friend, Lee Min-Woo, who was a chef in the M Kitchen. Her best friend, Jin Young-Seo, who came from rich family, works at Marine Group.

During Shin Ha-Ri’s birthday, she told Jin Young-Seo that Lee Min-Woo was inviting her to the M Kitchen. She was really excited about it. Jin Young-Seo discovered that Lee Min-Woo bought an expensive gift for woman. She presumed that the gift was going to be hers during her birthday. Shin Ha-Ri came to M Kitchen, she thought he was going to make a cake for her. It turned out that the cake was made for customer. Lee Min-Woo gave her 2 tickets for the show. Shin Ha-Ri was really disappointed.

Jin Young-Seo asked Shin Ha-Ri to take her place to attend a blind date for her. She also offered her some money. Shin Ha-Ri took up the offer and attended the blind date. It turned out that the blind date was her new CEO, Kang Tae-Moo whom she works for the company. She felt a bit awkward, but her intention was to get rejected by her date. She made a lot things that men do not like.

Kang Tae-Moo was the new CEO of his grandfather’s company. He was a workaholic who dislike wasting time doing unnecessary things. He was annoyed when his grandfather, Kang Da-Koo arranged blind date for him. He decided to marry the woman that she met so that his grandfather will not setup any more blind date for him. After the blind date, Kang Tae-Moo told his grandfather that he was going to marry Jin Young-Seo.

In the office, Shin Ha-Ri accidentally met Kang Tae-Moo, his secretary Cha Sung-Hoon and Kang Da-Koo in the lift. She tried to hide her face so that Kang Tae-Moo did not see her. She also tried to avoid seeing her boss at the work place.

On the following day, Jin Young-Seo received a call from her parents. She was surprised when Kang Tae-Moo offered to marry her. Jin Young-Seo wanted Shin Ha-Ri to clean up the mess. She told her to speak clearly with him that she does not want to marry him. Initially did not want to, but Jin Young-Seo convinced her. She went to the restaurant nearby M Kitchen. After she make her stand clear, she left the restaurant even though Kang Tae-Moo offered her to date with him for 10 dates in order to get to know one another. On the street, she saw Lee Min-Woo was coming to her way. She tried to avoid him seeing her. She accidentally entered the car of Kang Tae-Moo. Kang Tae-Moo was surprised to see her acted in such a way.

Soon, Kang Tae-Moo found out that Shin Ha-Ri was not the real Jin Young-Seo. He was very angry and looking for her everywhere. At the same time, he also did not want to go for any blind date arranged by his grandfather. Thus, he made Jin Young-Seo to set up a date for them. Kang Tae-Moo then prepared a contract for Shin Ha-Ri and made her sign. Kang Tae-Moo asked for her real name. Shin Ha-Ri was unable to use her real name as she afraid that Kang Tae-Moo might find out that she was her employee. Therefore, she used the name Shin Geum-Hui. They signed a contract to pretend to be dating with each other.

Jin Young-Seo fall in love with Cha Sung-Hoon at the convenience store. She loved that he was handsome. Jin Young-Seo was arguing with her father for arranging blind dates for her. She decided to move out from her house. She found a house and it happened that Cha Sung-Hoon was staying next door. However, Cha Sung-Hoon kept drawing line with her. She thought that he disliked her.

Kang Tae-Moo realised that his researcher, Shin Ha-Ri’s idea was brilliant. He wanted see her and asked her to present during the presentation. Shin Ha-Ri was too scared and gave a lot of reason not to show her face. She tried to avoid him badly at the office.

One day, Kang Da-Koo came to the shoot area for advertising their product. Shin Ha-Ri and her colleagues was there for shooting. Shin Ha-Ri was surprised when Kang Da-Koo came at the shooting area. She quickly hid herself in the washroom. Kang Da-Koo suddenly had a stomach ache. He was looking for the washroom. It happened that there was only one washroom. Shin Ha-Ri refused to open the door of the washroom. However, she did not know what to do about it. She then opened the door and accidentally caused Kang Da-Koo fall in bucket of water. He was extremely angry towards Shin Ha-Ri and left a bad impression on her.

Kang Da-Koo kept nagging his grandson to date with Shin Geum-Hui. He likes her very much. After a few dates, Kang Tae-Moo started to grow interest in her. They also get to know each other better. He also told her his secret why he hates raining days. Kang Tae-Moo realised that Shin Geum-Hui liked Lee Min-Woo and Lee Min-Woo also has feeling for her. Kang Tae-Moo was jealous when she worked together with Lee Min-Woo to invent a new product. He decided to warn him not to get any closer to Shin Geum-Hui.

Jin Young-Seo and Shin Ha-Ri attended their old school friends’ gathering. They kept asking her dating partner. Jin Young-Seo spoke out and told them that she was dating a rich man. Shin Ha-Ri was shocked and just go along with Jin Young-Seo.

Kang Tae-Moo invited Shin Ha-Ri for a date. Suddenly, there was raining during the night. Kang Tae-Moo simply dropped her at the bus stand and asked her to take the bus home by herself. Shin Ha-Ri was surprised with his action. She has no other choice but to find a hotel to stay for a night. At the hotel, Shin Ha-Ri coincidently met up her old school friends. They wanted to see her rich boyfriend. Shin Ha-Ri was embarrassed and tried to explain it. however, Kang Tae-Moo showed up just in time. He also apologised to Shin Ha-Ri for his earlier act. Both them pretended to be a nice couple in front of her friends. He treated them with dinner as well as upgraded their room.

The next day, Kang Tae-Moo bought some new clothes for her to change. He also invited everyone to come join the fishing trip. Kang Tae-Moo and Lee Min-Woo challenged with one another, whereby who was going to catch the most fishes. Shin Ha-Ri tried to stop him but he refused to bother her, not until she collapsed. Kang Tae-Moo quickly sent her to the hospital for treatment and also sent her home.

One day, Kang Tae-Moo discovered that Shin Ha-Ri was Shin Geum-Hui. He felt being betrayed by her for lying about her identity. He kept finding faults on her. He also purposely kept asking her to remake the food. Shin Ha-Ri felt pressured at work. However, she could not do anything. Kang Tae-Moo also purposely asked her to attend a company event with him. Shin Ha-Ri felt uneasy and tried to push away the invitation. However, Kang Tae-Moo threatened her if she breaches the contract, she has to pay the fine. After a long thinking, Shin Ha-Ri decided to pay the fine. She did not want her secret being revealed.

Shin Ha-Ri was awarded for her excellent work. However, she wasn’t happy about it. she could not be able to split herself into two at the same time. She also did not want her colleagues to know that she was dating with her boss. The colleagues decided to celebrate for her receiving the award. She made herself drunk. Shin Ha-Ri was drunk at the playground. She called Kang Tae-Moo and cut of the phone when she saw the students smoking at the park. Kang Tae-Moo worried about her and quickly went to her neighbourhood. He found her and Shin Ha-Ri confessed that she was wronged. She was unintended to lie to him about her true identity. She felt sorry. Kang Tae-Moo was soft after hearing what Shin Ha-Ri told him. The next day, Kang Tae-Moo did not ask her to remake the food anymore. He even cancelled their contract. Shin Ha-Ri was really happy about it.

However, Shin Ha-Ri suddenly received a call from Kang Da-Koo. He invited her for dinner. Shin Ha-Ri wasn’t able to reject his request. Kang Tae-Moo was on the way to meet his grandfather. He then being informed by his secretary Cha Sung-Hoon that he and Jin Young-Seo was at police station. He was surprised to see Shin Ha-Ri there. He grabbed her and asked her to come with him. Shin Ha-Ri then only discovered that Kang Tae-Moo already knew her true identity.

Jin Young-Seo has been taken videos by her neighbour who gave her a lamp as a welcome gift. Her neighbour placed the camera inside the lamp. Cha Sung-Hoon helped her to catch the neighbour. Jin Young-Seo was thankful toward Cha Sung-Hoon for helping her.

Kang Tae-Moo fallen in love with Shin Ha-Ri. He looked for her social media to find out what she liked. He also brought her to eat what she loved and also went to her favourite place. Shin Ha-Ri was really happy about it. In the end of their dating, Kang Tae-Moo asked her whether did she love him. she did not give him the answer. Kang Tae-Moo told her that he gave her some time to think about it.

Many days have passed. Kang Tae-Moo still did not get the answer from her. He was frustrated and looked for her at her workplace. Shin Ha-Ri was shocked when she saw Kang Tae-Moo showed up at her workplace. He wanted to hear the answer from her. Suddenly, Kang Tae-Moo’s grandfather came to the office to look for him. Both of them quickly hid themselves. Shin Ha-Ri then kissed Kang Tae-Moo. He asked as if she already accepted him as her boyfriend. She told him that it was a mistake. Kang Tae-Moo was unhappy about it.

Kang Tae-Moo could not tell his grandfather that Shin Ha-Ri was Shin Geum-Hui. He just told him that they have broken up with each other. His grandfather then arranged another blind date for him. Kang Tae-Moo did not want to go to the blind date. He sent Cha Sung-Hoon to attend the blind date instead of him.

Shin Ha-Ri heard that Kang Tae-Moo was going for another blind date again. She was very nervous and jealous as well. She called him up and he was surprised that Shin Ha-Ri was jealous about him meeting another woman. Shin Ha-Ri also confessed her feeling for him. Kang Tae-Moo was touched and happy about it.

Jo Yoo-Jung was Jin Young-Seo’s cousin. Both of them was not in good term with one another. Jo Yoo-Jung fell in love with Cha Sung-Hoon at first sight. However, Cha Sung-Hoon kept drawing lines between them. He tried to avoid her badly. One day, Jo Yoo-Jung came to Cha Sung-Hoon’s house. She was drunk and made a scene there. Cha Sung-Hoon was nervous because Jin Young-Seo was coming to his house. In order to avoid misunderstanding, he did not allow her to come to his house.

Jo Yoo-Jung was upset that Cha Sung-Hoon did not accept him. She talked to Jin Young-Seo about it. Jin Young-Seo encouraged her to try again and again. Jo Yoo-Jung came to company to look for Cha Sung-Hoon. She wanted to apology to him. However, she came at the wrong timing. Kang Da-Koo overheard that Cha Sung-Hoon attended the blind date instead of Kang Tae-Moo. Kang Da-Koo was mad and scolded at them. Jo Yoo-Jung felt that she has messed up the plan. She talked to Jin Young-Seo again.

Jin Young-Seo brought Jo Yoo-Jung along to meet Cha Sung-Hoon. Cha Sung-Hoon was surpised when he saw Jo Yoo-Jung. Jin Young-Seo then realised that Jo Yoo-Jung was seeing Cha Sung-Hoon and Cha Sung-Hoon also lied to her. Jin Young-Seo was really mad on Cha Sung-Hoon and she avoid him whenever she saw him.

During the weekend, Jin Young-Seo invited Shin Ha-Ri for a meal. They saw Cha Sung-Hoon and Kang Tae-Moo together. They followed their car until they reached an orphanage home. Cha Sung-Hoon and Kang Tae-Moo were shocked that Jin Young-Seo invited Shin Ha-Ri showed up at the orphanage home. Cha Sung-Hoon introduced his mother to Jin Young-Seo. His mother also told Jin Young-Seo that Cha Sung-Hoon was actually inviting her to visit his girlfriend. Jin Young-Seo realised that she misunderstood him. his mother also told her about his childhood story and how he became closer to Kang Tae-Moo.

After that, Shin Ha-Ri received a call from her neighbour saying that her brother stole the restaurant’s money and left the home. All of them went back to Shin Ha-Ri’s store to have a check. Shin Ha-Ri’s parent was away to attend a funeral. Since everyone was hungry, they decided to went go to eat. Suddenly, there was a group of people came to restaurant for food. Four of them worked together to serve the food to the customer. Shin Ha-Ri made a lot of food so that the four of them can enjoyed their meal. Suddenly, Kang Tae-Moo’ shirt has been spilled with alcohol. Shin Ha-Ri brought him to her house and lent him her brother’s shirt for him. At the same time, Shin Ha-Ri’s parents came back from funeral. They were surprised to see Jin Young-Seo and a young man there. Jin Young-Seo tried to stop Shin Ha-Ri’s mother from entering the house. She purposely dragged her to the store and introduced Cha Sung-Hoon to them. Shin Ha-Ri hid Kang Tae-Moo at her room. They waited for the right timing, so that Kang Tae-Moo can leave the house.

Unfortunately, Shin Ha-Ri’s brother saw her and Kang Tae-Moo together. They were caught. They asked him to keep a secret from her parents. Her brother agreed with it.

Yeo Ui-Joo and Kevin are Shin Ha-Ri’s teammates. They are dating with one another. Both of them has argument due to work issues. Kevin hided himself in the washroom. Yeo Ui-Joo came to the washroom to look for him. Shin Ha-Ri tried to stop them for causing troubles. However, it was too late, Shin Ha-Ri has to hid in men washroom to avoid Kang Da-Koo. Kang Tae-Moo saw the shoes that he presented to Shin Ha-Ri on the floor. He knew that she was in the washroom. Kang Da-Koo insisted to enter the washroom, Shin Ha-Ri has no choice but to come out from the washroom. Kang Da-Koo was really unhappy with Shin Ha-Ri and asked her to write an apology letter to him.

Shin Ha-Ri worried that Kang Da-Koo will be mad if Kang Tae-Moo told him that she was his girlfriend. Kang Tae-Moo also waited for the right timing to tell his grandfather about their relationship.

Lee Min-Woo discovered the dating contract in Shin Ha-Ri’s room. He was mad and confronted with Kang Tae-Moo. Shin Ha-Ri stopped both of them. She told Lee Min-Woo don’t involve in her matter. And yet they were in serious relationship with one another. Lee Min-Woo apologised to her after a couple of day. Lee Min-Woo’s girlfriend was jealous when she noticed that Lee Min-Woo was cared about Shin Ha-Ri more than her. Shin Ha-Ri also told Lee Min-Woo to put more effort on his girlfriend rather than her. She tried to draw lines between them.

Kang Tae-Moo joined Shin Ha-Ri and her teammates to BBQ restaurant. They were celebrating their effort for working hard for the company. Although they felt uneasy to have a boss to join the party, they still went along with it. Kang Tae-Moo hold Shin Ha-Ri’s hand and it has been witnessed by one of her teammates. They then quickly took off their hands and pretended nothing was going on with them.

Kang Tae-Moo wanted to invite Shin Ha-Ri for the second round. Suddenly, his grandfather showed up and asked him why did he go out with an employee. Both of them was shocked. Luckily, Shin Ha-Ri’s teammates came back and told his grandfather that Kang Tae-Moo was having a dinner with researchers.

Kang Tae-Moo called Shin Ha-Ri every night. This has caused Kang Da-Koo suspicious about the hidden woman that his grandson falls in love with. He arranged someone to took the photos of them. It turned out that Kang Tae-Moo was dating with Shin Ha-Ri. Kang Da-Koo was unhappy that his grandson lied to him. He told her to leave his grandson. Before he heard her explanation, Cha Sung-Hoon gave him a call and told him that Kang Tae-Moo was in hospital.

Both of them rush to the hospital separately. Kang Tae-Moo explained to his grandfather that they were in real relationship. Kang Da-Koo also scolded Cha Sung-Hoon for keeping the secret from him as well. The next day, Kang Da-Koo asked Shin Ha-Ri to leave the company for the sake of his grandson. It was due to their relationship has been exposed in the social media and all the staffs in the company knew about their dating. Everyone was gossiping with one another about Shin Ha-Ri. Shin Ha-Ri told Kang Da-Koo that she was not going to quit as she contributed so much for the company for inventing new products. Shin Ha-Ri’s teammates also supported her when others gossiping about Shin Ha-Ri.

Lee Min-Woo apologised to Shin Ha-Ri on behalf of his girlfriend. His girlfriend posted the photos of Shin Ha-Ri and Kang Tae-Moo in social media as she was jealous of her. However, in the end, both of them broke up. Lee Min-Woo decided to sold his restaurant and went to oversea to travel. His ex-girlfriend felt sorry for Shin Ha-Ri and she also embarrassed to face her.

Kang Tae-Moo did not know until the nurses mentioned about Shin Ha-Ri and Kang Tae-Moo dating rumours. Kang Tae-Moo worried about her and rushed to the company. He made his stand that he will not break up with Shin Ha-Ri no matter how his grandfather tried to stop him. He also looked for Shin Ha-Ri all over the place. Finally, Shin Ha-Ri returned his call and met with one another at the N Tower. They also spent a night together at the hotel.

The next day, Kang Tae-Moo sent Shin Ha-Ri back home. Shin Ha-Ri’s parents saw them together. They kept scolding Kang Tae-Moo for fooling their daughter. Later, they learnt that Kang Tae-Moo was Shin Ha-Ri’s boyfriend and also her boss. They treated him with a nice meal. Shin Ha-Ri’s mother liked Kang Tae-Moo so much, however, her father seemed very worry about them. Kang Tae-Moo talked to her father and let him rest assured about their relationship. Kang Tae-Moo also promised that he will talk to his family and make them accept Shin Ha-Ri.

Jin Young-Seo’s father discovered that his daughter was dating with a secretary. He invited them to join him a meal. In front of Kang Tae-Moo Jin Young-Seo, he praised Cha Sung-Hoon and allowed them to date one another. On the other hand, he called Cha Sung-Hoon personally and asked him to leave his daughter. Jin Young-Seo heard the conversation and she was pretty angry. The next day, she sent her resignation letter to his father. She decided to setup a new company by herself. She told Cha Sung-Hoon about her plan. And Cha Sung-Hoon decided to invest in her company after seeing her business plan.           

Kang Tae-Moo received a call from his grandfather’s secretary about his grandfather’s condition. Kang Da-Koo pretended to be sick so that he can forced Kang Tae-Moo to break up with Shin Ha-Ri. Kang Tae-Moo heard their conversation since his secretary has not turned off his phone. Shin Ha-Ri volunteered herself to went to the hospital to take care of Kang Da-Koo. She wanted to get closer to him so that he won’t reject their relationship. Kang Da-Koo enjoyed Shin Ha-Ri was taking care of him. After the doctor ran a few tests, he contacted Kang Tae-Moo and told him about Kang Da-Koo’s condition. Kang Da-Koo was surprised to know that he was really sick. In other to get proper treatment, Kang Tae-Moo decided to bring his grandfather to USA for treatment. He asked Shin Ha-Ri to follow him, however, she decided to stay.

1 year later, Kang Tae-Moo’s company has been expanding. He used to contact with Shin Ha-Ri through computer. One day, Shin Ha-Ri saw in the news about Kang Tae-Moo and his rumours girlfriend. Shin Ha-Ri was jealous and decided to fly over USA to look for him. She was surprised when she saw Kang Tae-Moo appeared in front of her. Kang Tae-Moo proposed to her and she accepted it.

Kim Sun-Ja was the only child of Yang Jin and Hoon, who was born and raised in Busan. She was born during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Their lives were tough. She lost her father since she was young. Her mother runs a boarding house and she was a good cook too.

Kim Sun-Ja met a handsome fish broker at the market. The man was Koh Han-Su. He also rescues her from a group of Japanese boys who are sexually harassing her. They fall in love with one another. Koh Han-Su always shared with her about the world outside Korea. He was a Korean but he immigrated to Osaka since he was young. He used to be poor as she did, but it changes his life after he went to Japan. Some people said that he did not has a good personality, however, he pay them fairly.

One day, Kim Sun-Ja realised that she was pregnant. She looked for Koh Han-Su everywhere, however she did not see him. One of the neighbours told her that he did not come for a couple of days. He might possibly not come back anymore. Kim Sun-Ja was relieved when she saw him at the market. Koh Han-Su gave her a watch as a present. She also told him about her pregnancy. Koh Han-Su was glad to hear that. When she mentioned about marriage, Koh Han-Su told her that he can’t marry her. He already has a family with 3 daughters at Osaka. He told her that he did not love his wife. They are business marriage. However, he offered to take care of her and promised to buy her a house to raise their child together. Kim Sun-Ja felt being fooled by him and decided to leave him. Kim Sun-Ja was heart-broken.

Baek Isak came to Busan and stayed at the boarding house runs by Yang Jin. He had tuberculosis and he was very sick. Yang Jin took care of him until he recovered. Baek Isak overheard the conversation between Yang Jin and Kim Sun-Ja. Kim Sun-Ja told her mother about the pregnancy. Her mother comforted her. They did not have any power to fight against those from higher social class. Baek Isak advised Kim Sun-Ja to give up her baby. Kim Sun-Ja did not give in. She wanted to raise her child and love her child. Baek Isak then offered to marry her and asked her to come to Osaka with him. She agreed with it.

During her wedding, Kim Sun-Ja’s mother bought white rice for them. White rice was extremely expensive and only the Japanese can consume them. However, Kim Sun-Ja’s mother wanted to treat her daughter and son-in-law for the last time before they left Busan. Koh Han-Su heard that Kim Sun-Ja married another guy. He couldn’t stop her. He begged her not to leave Busan and he will take care of her. He did not have faith in Baek Isak to take care of his son and Kim Sun-Ja. He believed that she could not be able to forget about him. He asked her not to beg for him even if she asked for him in Osaka. Kim Sun-Ja rejected his offer.

Yang Jin packed her daughter’s belongings. She also advised her daughter to be patient and nice to her in-laws. She gave her daughter some money just in case she needed it. Kim Sun-Ja showed her mother regarding the watch that Koh Han-Su gave her. She cried a lot as she might not be able to see her mother ever again after she left. Yang Jin watched her daughter left Busan. She cried and upset. Koh Han-Su also watched them took off the ferry as well.

After a long travel, Baek Isak and Kim Sun-Ja arrived at Japan. Baek Yoseb picked them up and showed them the road to their accommodation. On the way, Kim Sun-Ja found a familiar face who looked like Koh Han-Su on the street. Baek Yoseb and his wife Choi Kyung-Hee welcomed Kim Sun-Ja. Choi Kyung-Hee cooked a meal and served Kim Sun-Ja with a white rice. Kim Sun-Ja saw the rice and she cried on the spot. It reminded her mother who cooked the last meal for her. Baek Yoseb disliked Kim Sun-Ja. He could not understand why Baek Isak married her. And yet she also carried with a child.

One day, a two gangster came to the house and demand for money. Baek Yoseb owed them money and was unable to repay them. Kim Sun-Ja decided to sell the watch and pay off the debt. By the time when Baek Yoseb arrived home, he was extremely angry. He felt that his wife disrespect him as a head of the house. He and his wife had an argument. He then left the house. Koh Han-Su knew that Kim Sun-Ja was going to sell the watch off to help the family. He bought the watch back and gave the pawnshop owner the money that he deserved.

Kim Sun-Ja suddenly feel stomach pain and she was going to deliver a child. Baek Isak went back home and found Kim Sun-Ja was in great pain. Kim Sun-Ja asked him to get Baek Yoseb back. He then left the house and looked for his brother. Kim Sun-Ja experienced a hardship during giving birth. With the help of her neighbour, she managed to deliver a healthy son. Baek Yoseb decided to name the child, Noa. Koh Han-Su found that Kim Sun-Ja has successful deliver a son. He was so happy about it. He told his wife about it.

Noa has grown up at the age of 6-7 years old. He attended the Japanese school. He loves his father, Baek Isak. One day, Baek Isak has been arrested by the police due to spreading demonstration activities among the villagers. Kim Sun-Ja did not know that until she met an acquaintance. She told her about what her husband did and why he was caught by the policemen. Kim Sun-Ja asked Baek Yoseb for help.

Baek Yoseb worked at the factory. He went to the police station to understand the situation. He also told his boss about his brother. His boss asked him to resign from the post instead. Baek Yoseb was helpless. Kim Sun-Ja worried that they might run out of money if Baek Yoseb did not get to find a job. She decided to make fresh kimchi and sell them at the market. She monitored how others did their business and learnt from him.

Koh Han-Su found his son was on his way to school. He talked to him about becoming the best of the best, so that Noa won’t be looked down by the Japanese. He encouraged Noa to study hard and learn smart.

Koh Han-Su used to live with his father in Japan. His father was a merchant and Koh Han-Su worked as a math tutor for the American. They were poor. His father took the money and borrowed it to his Japanese lover. Although he knew that both of them has no future, he did it because he loved her. His Japanese lover gave the money to her friend. When Koh Han-Su’s father asked her for the money because he needed to return it back to the boss, Ryochi, she told him that it is impossible to get the money back. Koh Han-Su told the boss that he would like to work for him in order to clear his father’s debts. His father did not want him to get involved in this matter. He persuaded him to go to America together with the American family so that he can get proper education from United States. Due to an earthquake happened in Japan, many lives have sacrificed. This included Koh Han-Su’s father as well as the American family that he worked for.

Koh Han-Su has no other family left. He has no way to go to. He then saw Ryochi on the street looking for his family. He followed him. Ryochi also protected Koh Han-Su from being captured by the Japanese. Finally, Ryochi found his family. They were safe from the earthquake. Ryochi introduced Koh Han-Su to his family and decided to take him in. As for that moment, Koh Han-Su became part of their family member.

Baek Solomon was based in New York and his boss offered him to go to Japan to handle a deal so that they can build a hotel on that piece of land. Baek Solomon took this opportunity to visit his family at Osaka. There is a Korean woman who refuses to sell her land. Baek Solomon asked his grandmother for help and speak to her. Kim Sun-Ja and the Korean woman have a great conversation. They shared the same experience and faith when they arrived at Japan. It reminded Kim Sun-Ja of her homeland. After Choi Kyung-Hee passed away, she decided to take her ashes back to Korea.

When she arrived in Korea, she was extremely excited and happy. Kim Sun-Ja met her old friend, Bok-Hee. Bok-Hee told her about the incident after she left for Japan. She also handled her father grave which relocated to a new place. Kim Sun-Ja and Baek Mozasu paid a visit to her father. She also poured Choi Kyung-Hee’s ashes in the sea.

Baek Solomon thought that he has already get the deal done. Naomi, Baek Solomon’s colleague, told him to be aware of what happening in his surrounding and don’t be blinded by power and money. During the signing event, the Korean woman talked about the past and how they have been looked down by the Japanese and also what they had gone through. Baek Solomon could relate the incident of his grandmother and asked the woman not to sign the contract. Because of this, Baek Solomon has been fired by the company.

Baek Solomon as a girlfriend, Hana. He was unable to get in touch with Hana after he left for America. Hana was missing since then. Baek Mozasu has a girlfriend, Etsuko Nagatomi. She was Hana’s mother, they lived together in the same house. Etsuko Nagatomi spent a lot of money for the detective to find her daughter. She discovered that her daughter as AIDS and she needed treatment. Baek Solomon came to the hospital and visit her. Hana told him that she was not Hana that he used to know. Etsuko Nagatomi takes care of her daughter, and so did Kim Sun-Ja. Hana blamed Kim Sun-Ja for making her like this. She thought Kim Sun-Ja said that she was the one who ruined Baek Solomon. Kim Sun-Ja told her that what she said in the past was actually referring to herself, who ruined her another child’s life, Noa.

Baek Solomon confessed to Kim Sun-Ja that he was fired. When Solomon starts ranting about hard work and success, Sunja reminds him that it doesn’t matter what kind of success you have. It matters how you achieved that success, and that if Sunja wanted, she could’ve been rich too. Baek Solomon was jobless. There was a man who offered him to work at the pachinko.  Baek Solomon thought that it was a great offer. He told his father about it. Baek Mozasu stopped him immediately. He did not want his son to accept his job offer.

Hana was in her final stage of HIV. She was dying soon. Hana told Baek Solomon about her final wishes. She wanted to go to Hawaii. Baek Solomon made her wish come true.
