The Crown Prince's wife gave birth to twins, but twins were considered a bad sign for royal family. Therefore, the king ordered his guard to kill everyone that knew about the twins being born. The daughter was supposed to be killed, but her mother sent out her of the palace. A few years later, the daughter (Dam-I) came to the palace to work as a court maid. The prince, Lee Hwi and Eunuch Hong accidentally found out that she looked exactly like the prince, Lee Hwi.

The crown princess, Lee Hwi's mother, wanted to meet Dam-I. she was surprised to see her at the palace. She worried that someone might notice about it. she planned to send her far away from the palace. Unfortunately, Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae (Lee Hwi’s grandfather) found out that Dam-I was still alive, he ordered Jung Seok-Jo to kill her at once.

Jung Ji-Un followed his father, Jung Seok-Jo to the palace. He met Dam-I by coincident. Dam-I and Jung Ji-Un became close friend. They spent a day for outing. He gave her a beautiful name, Cheon Seon. They also promised to meet one another the next time.

Jung Seok-Jo also saw the Dam-I at the palace. He suspected something fishy about it. Jung Seok-Jo followed Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae instruction to kill the child. Lee Hwi was worried about his tutor who was going to beheaded. He asked Dam-I for help to exchange their cloths so that he can escaped from the guards. Dam-I wanted to meet up with Jung Ji-Un, but she has no other choice, but to borrow her identity to him. Dam-I wanted to give him a present, however, she can’t do anything about it.

Jung Seok-Jo mistakenly thought that the court maid was Dam-I. He shot him dead. Yoon Hyeong-Seol tried to protect him as a crown prince but he failed. He brought the body back to the palace and informed the crown princess about it. Lee Hwi's mother was shocked when she realised that it was Lee Hwi who has been killed. In order to hide the secret, she told Dam-I to become the crown prince. Initially, Dam-I did not want to. She overheard the conversation between Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae and Lee Hwi's mother. She and Eunuch Hong realised that Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae was her grandfather who wished to kill her. Lee Hwi's mother also told her regarding the truth behind her birth. She also taught her how to behave as a crown prince.

Jung Ji-Un waiting for her that day. He wondered what had happened to her. He asked his father to look for Dam-I. His father scolded him instead. He then asked her best friend, I-Wol. I-Wol told him that she did not see her for days. She also wondered where did she go.

Dam-I also witnessed Jung Seok-Jo killed her best friend, I-Wol. Jung Ji-Un tried to stop his father to kill innocent people, but his father refused to listen and killed her in front of him. He could not forgive his father. He decided to study abroad at Ming and wanted to help the crown prince as promised to Dam-I. He came to the palace to meet Lee Hwi. Dam-I saw him, but she could not be able to express herself. She just pretended to be Lee Hwi and gave him the present. Jung Ji-Un received the gift and left.

In order to protect her, Dam-I has to kill anyone who might revealed her real identity. The crown princess passed away due to sickness. She asked the crown prince to promise her to protect Dam-I before she died. Court Lady Kim       and Eunuch Hong were the only person who will the closest to Dam-I.

10 years later, Jung Ji-Un came back from Ming. He was now a physician. He disliked his father, Jung Seok-Jo as he could not be able to forget how he killed I-Wol. Dam-I and ministers went for hunting. Her secret was nearly discovered by her uncle. Her uncle tried to kill her. She went into the wood to clean up herself. Jung Ji-Un, who came to the wood to look for herbs. He accidentally saw a woman by the pond. He grabbed her to elsewhere since the king and other ministers were hunting there. In order to avoid the guards, Jung Ji-Un and Dam-I jumped off the cliff. Dam-I intended to kill him as he knew her secret. However, she just held onto herself because she did not want to mess thing up. Jung Ji-Un can’t swim at all. Dam-I rescued him instead.

As they heard that the Dam-I was vanished in the wood, everyone was panic. Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong prepared extra clothes for Dam-I just in case something might happened. They discussed with Yoon Hyeong-Seol to look for her. Dam-I quickly returned to the camp. Suddenly, she was attacked by assassin. Luckily, Lee Hyun protected her. Yoon Hyeong-Seol chased the assassin instead.             Dam-I suspected that it was done by the Queen. Dam-I was actually jealous when her father cares for her brother, Prince Jehyeon. She wondered why he would kill his own daughter.

Dam-I was looking for Jung Ji-Un. She came to the prostitute house. She accidentally saw her uncle there. She heard his conversation with others. When her uncle noticed that someone was standing outside the door, he was pretty mad and looked for the person. Jung Ji-Un hided her to somewhere safe. Dam-I did not want to. She just showed up in front of her uncle. She warned her uncle that she knew he was the one who tried to shot her. Jung Ji-Un was really surprised that Dam-I was the crown prince. When Dam-I asked for his name, he told her his name is Jung Ji-Un.

Dam-I hoped that she would never see him again since he was the biggest threat for her. Dam-I was surprised to see Jung Ji-Un as her new teacher. Jung Ji-Un was being threatened by his father to teach the crown prince. His father captured his friends and sent them to prison. If he has fulfilled his duty, his father will then release his friends.

Dam-I wanted to make Jung Ji-Un resigned from his post. She requested him to do all sort of things that anger him. However, Jung Ji-Un fulfilled every request of Dam-I. Dam-I tried to scare Jung Ji-Un by putting his life on bet. She was surprised that he gave it a try. Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae saw the whole incident. He warned Dam-I not to cause a scene with his teacher.

Jung Ji-Un overheard the conversation between Dam-I and Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae. He decided to give her an assignment. The assignment was the lotus seed. Dam-I was stress when it came to exam. However, she was smart to find the answer for it. during the exam, although Dam-I’s answer was impressive, Jung Ji-Un failed her. It was not the answer that Jung Ji-Un wanted. Jung Ji-Un’s explained surprised all the ministers and King. The King was highly praised the intelligent of Jung Ji-Un.

Lee Hyun brought Dam-I for a walk the next day. Dam-I saw a beautiful lady ring. Lee Hyun noticed that and decided to buy for her. Dam-I was surprised that Lee Hyun brought her the ring. However, she returned it back to him as she did not want to. Lee Hyun knew that the crown prince was a woman. Since he was young, he accidentally heard the conversation between Dam-I and her mother. He also saw her body while she was changing her cloth. Lee Hyun did not tell anyone about it. He kept the secret from everyone.

During the outing, as Dam-I’s hat was out of shape, Lee Hyun went to the market to but a new hat for her. Jung Ji-Un was on his way to other places. He saw Dam-I was waiting under the tree. He gave her his hat and helped her to tie the hat properly. Dam-I flutter a little. Lee Hyun came back and see Jung Ji-Un and Dam-I. Dam-I was surprised that Lee Hyun and Jung Ji-Un knew each other and both of them are friends. Dam-I felt embarrassed as she spoke ill about Jung Ji-Un when Lee Hyun asked her about her new tutor.

Dam-I has a new body guard, Kim Ga-On. She did not want a bodyguard, but since it was arranged by her grandmother, she just accepted it. Yoon Hyeong-Seol found out that Kim Ga-On was the assassin who tried to kill Dam-I. However, he did not tell her yet.

Dam-I was going to take bath at night. She noticed that something off with the bathroom. Kim Ga-On entered the bathroom and found the culprit. She admitted that she was sent by Prince Changun. Dam-I warned Prince Changun not to mess with her. Prince Changun did not give in. Left State Councilor Han Ki-Jae and Lee Hyun taught him a lesson for the sake of Dam-I. They tried to protect her even if they were meant to kill a person.

Jung Ji-Un kept thinking that Dam-I was a woman. It reminded him as he saw her in the wood. He could not focus while teaching the crown prince. He talked to his friend about it. His friend told him to be careful of what he said.

Jung Ji-Un asked the crown prince did he remember the court maid Dam-I after he saw the book that he has transcript for her in the crown prince’s study room. Dam-I worried about her record. Therefore, she asked Court Lady Kim regarding her old identity. She told her that it has been taken care by her late mother. When she checked the record, it recorded as she has illness and left the palace. Dam-I passed the record to Jung Ji-Un. Jung Ji-Un was upset to see that his first love has passed away. He went to the place where they used to play. The place was a forbidden area where the nobody can demolish the place. It has not been clean for years and the building has a lot dust and messy. Jung Ji-Un took his time to clean-up the area.

Jung Ji-Un received a complaint from Minister of Personnel for deceiving his background before he became the royal tutor. His life was in danger as well as his family and his friends. Jung Ji-Un asked the crown prince for help. Although she said she can’t do much about it, she secretly helped him out. She also saved his friends from prison. Although her acts have been questioned by her grandfather, she affirmed that she was stayed in line with her grandfather and asked him to support her. During the meeting, the King was discussing about the dismissal of royal tutor Jung Ji-Un. The crown prince stepped in to clear his name. Jung Ji-Un was really glad to have crown prince and Lee Hyun for helping him. Jung Ji-Un started to grow feeling for the crown prince.

Jung Ji-Un mentioned to his friend Lee Hyun that the court maid that he had a crush has passed away. Lee Hyun also told him that he has someone that he loved. However, he did not mention who is it. It was a one-sided love.

The crown prince offered to help the King to welcome the envoy from Ming dynasty. She convinced the king to have faith on her. Since it was the first time she handled this matter, she was extremely nervous. At the same time, she also hoped that she can help her father to less his burden. Chief Eunuch from Ming Dynasty always made a scene at the palace. He was very unsatisfied and happy with the Crown Prince and the King. The crown prince has no idea why did he react in such a way. However, that’s has anger her when Chief Eunuch hurt her bodyguard and Court Lady Kim. The king was very disappointed towards the crown prince for beating up the Chief Eunuch. The crown prince, Jung Ji-Un and Lee Hyun were going to discover the secret of Chief Eunuch. Although the crown prince learnt about the secret, she did not reveal it to the Ming Dynasty for his wrongdoing. She apologised to him for their country’s leader wrongdoing which sell off those young children to Ming Dynasty as slave. She hoped that Chief Eunuch can forgive them. At last, Chief Eunuch decided to let go of his anger and left the palace.

Jung Ji-Un found himself being in love with the crown prince. He kissed him unintentionally. The crown prince was surprised too. Jung Ji-Un was drunk at that time, he apologised to the crown prince for his action. The crown prince also kissed him when he was asleep. The next day, Jung Ji-Un felt embarrassed to face the crown prince. The crown prince asked him to let go of what had happened yesterday. Jung Ji-Un was a bit disappointed about it.

Soon later, Lee Hwi's grandmother would like to arrange marriage for the crown prince. The crown prince was nervous as this matter cannot delay anymore. When Jung Ji-Un heard about the marriage, he was surprised about it. He congratulated the crown prince but he wasn’t that happy. He decided to tender his resignation letter to the crown prince. The crown prince accepted it.

The crown prince saved Shin So-Eun’s maid from being bullied by her uncle. Because her uncle felt being challenged by the crown prince and being embarrassed as the crown prince scolded him in the public, he secretly killed the maid in Shin So-Eun’s house. Her uncle also found the secret of Shin So-Eun who was in love with Jung Ji-Un. He told Lee Hwi's grandmother about it. Lee Hwi's grandmother wanted to remove her from the list of candidates.

The crown prince confronted with her uncle and asked him to beg for forgiveness in front of the maid’s tomb. His uncle cannot withstand the embarrassment. Hence, he took his own life. Because of this matter, the crown prince has been requested by the scholar and ministers to dethrone the crown prince. The King agreed with it.

Lee Hyun came to see the crown prince. He told her that he knew that she was a woman from the beginning. He was concerned about her. He wanted her to be happy. He also prepared a gift for her. It was a pair of woman shoes. The crown prince accepted it. The crown prince also met her only brother, Prince Jehyeon. She wished him to stay strong and safe.

The crown prince wore the woman shoes and walked around her room. Suddenly, she heard Court Lady Kim was asking the King in front of her room. She was totally surprised and afraid that her secret could not be kept. She went to meet her father and asked him about it. The King knew about her identity during her mother’s death. Besides, her mother also asked the King to protect her. That’s why the King has been protecting her even though he knew that the crown prince was his twin daughter. In order to ensure her safety, the King has ordered his bodyguard, Yoon Hyeong-Seol to protect his daughter.

With the help of Lee Hyun and Jung Ji-Un, the crown prince managed to escape from Jung Seok-Jo at the moment. Yoon Hyeong-Seol told the crown prince that the king has ordered him to protect her. He gave her a box of gift from the King. The crown prince opened the box and found hanbok in there. She read the letter left by the King. The King expressed that his love for his daughter and he wanted to protect her just like what her mother did. The next day, the crown prince wore hanbok and headed to the ship to escape. Jung Seok-Jo did not give up. He was still chasing the crown prince even though he knew that the crown prince as disguised himself as a woman. Jung Ji-Un protected her from his father.

The crown prince wanted to tell Jung Ji-Un the truth about her identity. Unfortunately, Jung Seok-Jo still chasing for her. His man shot an arrow toward the crown prince. Since the crown prince has been badly injured and lost a lot blood, Jung Ji-Un, as a physician looked for the herbs to treat her wound. The crown prince decided to take off her cloth by herself. She showed him her body and told him that this is her secret.

Jung Ji-Un went to the market to buy a man clothes for her so that his father couldn’t trace them. Unfortunately, Jung Ji-Un’s father managed to capture her and brought her back to the palace. She was informed that the King has passed away. It was believed that it has been done by her grandfather who poisoned the King.

Before the King passed away, the king spoke to Kim Ga-On. He told him where his father’s grief located. The king also asked him to visit his father. Right after he left the King’s room, he heard that the King has passed away. He was investigating the death of the King in secret.

Lee Hwi was shocked when she heard about her father’s passed away. She also investigated the case in secret. She pretended to be her grandfather’s puppet. She tried to look for more evidences to bring her grandfather down. Jung Ji-Un heard that Lee Hwi wanted to find the evidence, so he also secretly helped her to look for it.

Jung Ji-Un begged his father to allow him to work close with the King. His father asked Lee Hwi’s grandfather for the post. Jung Ji-Un’s intention was to treat the wound of Lee Hwi. He decided to leave the palace until Lee Hwi has healed. Lee Hwi asked him to stay at the palace.

Jung Seok-Jo found that Lee Hwi was suspicious. He also discovered that Lee Hwi has a mark on her neck. He believed that she was the twin daughter of King Hyejong. He asked Jung Ji-Un whether did he treated Lee Hwi’s wound. Jung Ji-Un denied it.

Although Lee Hwi married with No Ha-Kyung, Lee Hwi made it clear that she will sleep separately with her. She wanted to make a show in front of her grandfather. No Ha-Kyung has no idea why Lee Hwi reacted in such a way. She was deeply disappointed with it. After hearing from her maid, she thinks that she had a chance to win back the King’s heart. The King might dislike his father but not her.

Jung Seok-Jo accidentally found out that Lee Hwi and Jung Ji-Un kissed at the garden. He did not ask his son anything about the King. He asked him about Dam-I. Jung Ji-Un told his father that Dam-I has already passed away. He confessed that he still resent his father, but he will try to understand him. Jung Ji-Un was jealous when Lee Hwi was with her queen.

Lee Hwi planned to rectify and reform the court. She asked Shin Yeong-Su, the former Inspector General to come back to the palace. She intended to reduce the influences of her grandfather and also exposed his wrongdoings. Han Ki-Jae found out that the King has suspected the Minister of Taxation for smuggling the rice and weapon for Han Ki-Jae’s private military. He warned the King not to do anything that ruined his plan. He also asked Jung Seok-Jo to kill the Minister of Taxation. After learning the King’s plan, Jung Ji-Un decided to join hand with her. Initially, she refused, however, she changed her mind with one condition: Jung Ji-Un has to stop when she asked for.

Kim Ga-On was the only one who witnessed the late King’s Eunuch who has been murdered. He tried to find the culprit but he failed. Therefore, he went to see the Eunuch’s wife. His wife told him that they were indebted to Han Ki-Jae. Han Ki-Jae saved her life and returned he asked Eunuch to frame Kim Ga-On’s father as a traitor. Han Ki-Jae also threatened Eunuch for framing Kim Ga-On’s father and asked him to poison the King. Yoon Hyeong-Seol overheard everything. He asked him to spoke the truth to Lee Hwi.

Kim Ga-On apologised to Lee Hwi for attacking her and also willing to follow her order to go against Han Ki-Jae. Lee Hwi also included him to join her plan to bring down her grandfather. Yoon Hyeong-Seol wanted to look for the evidence of weapon being used by Han Ki-Jae for his private army. He went to Yeoyeon to find the evidence. Lee Hwi found that it was too dangerous. Her grandfather also sent Jung Seok-Jo to go to Yeoyeon to destroy the evidence. Jung Seok-Jo informed Lee Hwi that he will be away from the palace to inspect Prince Jehyeon. Lee Hwi felt something off, so she sent Kim Ga-On to inform Yoon Hyeong-Seol to on hold their plan.

Kim Ga-On was surprised when he reached Yeoyeon and was informed that Yoon Hyeong-Seol has left 1 day earlier. Yoon Hyeong-Seol found the evidence. However, Jung Seok-Jo discovered him. Kim Ga-On came to rescue Yoon Hyeong-Seol. Unfortunately, they have been chased by Jung Seok-Jo and his men. Jung Seok-Jo offered to spare their lives if they surrendered the evidence. Yoon Hyeong-Seol wanted to protect the evidence and Kim Ga-On, so he sacrificed himself to save them. Jung Seok-Jo was upset because Yoon Hyeong-Seol has been shot by arrows and passed away on the spot. Both Yoon Hyeong-Seol and Jung Seok-Jo used to be best friend. However, they chosen different paths and leaded to different life.

The Queen and Shin So-Eun are close friends. The queen invited Shin So-Eun to come to the palace. The Queen purposely create some room for Shin So-Eun and Jung Ji-Un because she wanted to let them reunited. Jung Ji-Un felt uncomfortable with Shin So-Eun since he has no feeling for her. Lee Hwi was jealous as she also knew the relationship between Shin So-Eun and Jung Ji-Un.

Kim Ga-On came back to the palace and informed Lee Hwi about the death of Yoon Hyeong-Seol. Lee Hwi was sad and shocked to hear the news. Lee Hwi, Jung Ji-Un, Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong paid their last respect to late Yoon Hyeong-Seol.

Prince Wonsan accidentally found out that the late king has twin after he discovered the two placentas twisted together. He conspired with his uncle, Prince Changun to bring down Lee Hwi. Prince Changun did not kill himself. In fact, he faked his death and tried to take revenge against Lee Hwi. Lee Hwi and Jung Ji-Un stayed a little while to pay their respect for the late Yoon Hyeong-Seol. Lee Hwi found something suspicious in the field. Suddenly, Prince Changun and his men attacked her. Prince Changun wanted to check as if Lee Hwi was a woman. He purposely cut off her clothes. Jung Ji-Un protected her from Prince Changun. When Prince Changun was trying to attack Jung Ji-Un, Jung Seok-Jo showed up and fought with Prince Changun.

Lee Hwi told Jung Ji-Un that she saw her uncle came back to live, however, she decided to keep it as secret. Jung Seok-Jo will also investigate who was behind this. Prince Changun told Prince Wonsan that he was certain that Lee Hwi was a woman. Prince Wonsan went to the Palace and showed his grandmother about the twins’ placenta. He also noticed that the Palace was pretty quiet as well. He was certain that Lee Hwi intended to keep her secret.

There was rumour about Lee Hwi was having an intimate relationship with Jung Ji-Un. In order not to let Han Ki-Jae knew about it, Jung Seok-Jo quickly arranged marriage for his son. He tried his best to protect his son and also Lee Hwi. He told his son that he knew Lee Hwi was a woman. Although Jung Ji-Un did not want to get marry, he has to keep a distance from Lee Hwi at the moment. He was about to marry with Shin So-Eun who has crush on him since long time ago. Shin So-Eun begged his father that she wanted to marry with him. She told him to accept the marriage proposal from Jung Seok-Jo. Prince Changun has been escaped from Prince Wonsan. He went to prostitute house to enjoy himself. However, someone has noticed about him and reported to Han Ki-Jae. Han Ki-Jae ordered Jung Seok-Jo to look for him. Jung Seok-Jo chased him and killed Prince Changun in order to bury Lee Hwi’s secret.

Prince Wonsan still looking for Prince Changun’s whereabout. Lee Hyun found out that Prince Changun has been murdered by Jung Seok-Jo. He found his body in the forest. He tried to stop his brother, Prince Wonsan. However, he refused to listen to him. Han Ki-Jae has heard about the news of the twins and also the King has been switched since he was young from Prince Wonsan. He locked up Prince Wonsan instead. Han Ki-Jae confronted with the King. He suspected the King hided her secret. Lee Hwi wished to find out the truth about her father’s death. However, she was too late as her grandfather started to suspect her. Han Ki-Jae also suspected Jung Seok-Jo for his action. He asked his men to keep an eye on him.

Jung Ji-Un and his friend were looking for the herbs that used to poison the late King. Jung Seok-Jo was surprised when he saw his son showed up in the middle of the night. He was ordered to kill anyone who was looking for that herbs. He told Jung Ji-Un that it was a trap set by Han Ki-Jae. Jung Ji-Un wanted to rescue his friend. With the help of his father, he managed to escape together with his friend.

Shin So-Eun was happy to prepare for her wedding. She was shocked when she saw Jung Ji-Un was injured. She takes care of him for the whole night. However, she was quite disappointed when she heard Jung Ji-Un mentioned that he missed someone else.

Han Ki-Jae met the Queen’s maid. The maid told him everything about the night that the King and the Queen spent. Han Ki-Jae also met up with the Queen to monitor her expression. The Queen stayed still and firm with her answer. In fact, she was extremely nervous to face him. The Queen also raised her concerned that the King did not love her. She wanted to conceive a baby for Lee Hwi. However, Lee Hwi told her that she will tell her everything by the time come.

In order to protect Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong, Lee Hwi asked them to leave the palace at once. She asked Lee Hyun to escort them.  Court Lady Kim stopped by at Jung Ji-Un’s house. She told him the true identity of Lee Hwi. Jung Ji-Un was surprised and rushed to the palace to meet her. He saw the card held on her hand. It was the name that he gave her.

Shin So-Eun met up with Jung Ji-Un. She wanted to break off their marriage. She did not want to marry a meaningless marriage. Jung Ji-Un apologised to her. Jung Seok-Jo wanted to attack Han Ki-Jae but he realised that someone has tailed on him. He killed the man instead. Han Ki-Jae found his man has been killed. He then ordered his men to attack Han Ki-Jae’s residence. Fortunately, Jung Ji-Un came back on time and able to protect his mother.

Lee Hwi met up with her grandmother and Han Ki-Jae. She talked about the twin daughter. She wanted them to keep the secret buried because they were the one who supposed to be punished for keeping the secret. Han Ki-Jae felt that he has been challenged by Lee Hwi. He decided to join hand with Prince Wonsan. He asked Prince Wonsan to look for Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong. He also asked him to kill his own brother, Lee Hyun.

Prince Wonsan attacked Lee Hyun. However, he did not kill him. He took Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong from him. Lee Hyun was badly injured. He came back to the palace and told Lee Hwi about it. Lee Hwi was shocked to see him bleeding.

Jung Ji-Un asked his father about where did Han Ki-Jae kept the poison. Jung Seok-Jo told Jung Ji-Un where did Han Ki-Jae kept the poison. Jung Ji-Un found the poison at his study room. Jung Seok-Jo tried to buy time for his son. Unfortunately, Han Ki-Jae’s men attacked him and his son. Before that, Jung Seok-Jo asked Jung Ji-Un’s friend to inform Lee Hwi one day before if their plan has failed. Jung Ji-Un’s friend waited for them to come back within 1 hour. He quickly went to the palace to inform Lee Hwi. Lee Hwi brought her royal guards to attack Han Ki-Jae’s residence. She also accused him for committing treason against her for kidnapping her people.

Lee Hwi revealed her secret to her Queen and grandmother. She apologised to them. She also intended to pass the throne to her little brother. She also asked the Queen to leave the palace and lived a better live out there. Jung Seok-Jo also reported his crimes to Lee Hwi. Lee Hwi was unable to forgive him. She asked him to look for Prince Wonsan. After completing his assignment, she will only decide on the punishment on him. 

Han Ki-Jae has been escaped from the prison. He has been rescued by Prince Wonsan. Prince Wonsan and Han Ki-Jae wanted to declare a war against Lee Hwi. Lee Hyun read the poem left by his brother.
