Cha Mi-Jo was an adopted child. She raised by wealthy parents. She works as a dermatologist at her own clinic in Gangnam, Seoul. Her sister, Cha Mi-Jo worked together with her. One day, she decided to take a year break from work.

Cha Mi-Jo has two close friends, Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee. Jeong Chan-Young               works as an acting coach. Cha Mi-Hyun works as a salesperson at the cosmetics store. All of them is now 30 years old and unmarried.

Cha Mi-Jo, Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee went to the children home for help. They met a guy who claimed to be working as an English teacher at the children home. Cha Mi-Jo, Jeong Chan-Young and Cha Mi-Hyun left the children home after they played with them. Cha Mi-Jo left her watch there. The manager of the children home asked Kim Seon-U to bring it to her.

Kim Seon-U met Cha Mi-Jo in front of the flower shop. She bought some peonies there. He invited her to have a dinner. Cha Mi-Jo kept drinking soju and she was drunk. Before she went home, she asked him to give her one peony. The next morning, Cha Mi-Jo felt embarrassed about what had happened last night. 

Kim Seon-U has two tickets of orchestra show. His friend was unable to join him. Therefore, he attended the orchestra show alone. Cha Mi-Jo went to the show too. They coincidently met with one another. Cha Mi-Jo joined him with a meal. She apologised to what had happened the other day. She told him that she was an adopted child from that children home. He also told her that this children home was the place where his adopted sister lived. Kim Seon-U invited Cha Mi-Jo to come to his house. They spent a wonderful night there. Cha Mi-Jo told him that she was going to leave to the State soon. Kim Seon-U asked to meet up a couple of times before she leaves. Cha Mi-Jo insisted that there is not necessary.

Cha Mi-Jo wanted to meet the other doctor to take her place. This doctor was being recommended by Kim Jin-Seok. Cha Mi-Jo was surprised to see Kim Seon-U showed up at the dinner. The next day, she introduced him to her staffs. All the staffs were excited to see the new doctor.

Kim Jin-Seok was Cha Mi-Jo and Jeong Chan-Young’s friend. He was married but he was having affair with Jeong Chan-Young. Cha Mi-Jo talked to Jeong Chan-Young to leave this guy many times. Jeong Chan-Young was convinced and she decided to quit smoking as also gave up on him as well. One day, she talked to Kim Jin-Seok about her feeling and thought. She wanted to put an end to their relationship but Kim Jin-Seok refused.

Cha Mi-Jo received a call from her doctor regarding their body check-up. She was shocked to hear that Jeong Chan-Young was in stage four of pancreatic cancer. She cried and went to see Kim Jin-Seok. She said she will kill him, but she did not mention about her illness. Later, she went to see Jeong Chan-Young. Kang Sun-Joo was meeting with Jeong Chan-Young. She asked her to leave her husband. Cha Mi-Jo heard their conversation. She slapped on her face when she said “Life is Short”. All of them went to the police station.

Cha Mi-Hyun saw a newly open restaurant nearby her house. The chief kept asking her to come to their restaurant to have a meal. She invited Cha Mi-Jo and Jeong Chan-Young to come with her. They suddenly saw Kim Seon-U came to the restaurant too. The chief was his friend. He then joined them for dinner.

Cha Mi-Hyun received a call from her father. She hasn’t told her parent about her leaving. Her sister informed them instead. Kim Seon-U dropped her at her house. She confronted with her parents and her parent did not scold her. Instead, they wanted to go there with her.

Kim Seon-U talked to Jeong Chan-Young. He wanted to know more about Cha Mi-Jo. He has no idea what has happened to her, but the way she acted was strange. After a couple of attempts, Cha Mi-Jo finally told him about Jeong Chan-Young’s illness. She was hopeless and she did not know what to do. She also did not tell Cha Mi-Hyun. Cha Mi-Hyun felt that she has been hiding something from her. She was really upset and drunk at the Chinatown. She made a scene there.

Cha Mi-Hyun went to see Jeong Chan-Young. She asked her why did she hide her illness from her. The next day, Cha Mi-Hyun brought her to see the doctor. The doctor checked and confirmed that she was in stage four. Jang Joo-Hee was hesitated to tell Jang Joo-Hee about her illness. By the way, she also did not want to ruin her mood as she told them that she won a lottery. Cha Mi-Jo insisted to tell. Jang Joo-Hee heard about it and she felt really upset.

Jeong Chan-Young also informed Kim Jin-Seok about her cancer. Kim Jin-Seok was unable to accept it. He just told Kang Sun-Joo that he wanted a divorce and he will take care of the child. Although Kim Jin-Seok knew that the child was not belong to him, he still loving him. Jeong Chan-Young begged him not to divorce with his wife.

Since Jeong Chan-Young insisted not to accept treatment, Cha Mi-Jo and Jang Joo-Hee decided to accompany her for the rest of her life. Cha Mi-Jo also did not want to go for United State. She decided to stay in Korea. The three of them was having fun at the night club. They wanted to fulfil their wishes and do everything together. On the way home, they saw Kim Seon-U in front of the bar. Kim Seon-U was trying to get his sister out from the bar, but he has been chased out by the bodyguards. Kim Seon-U’s sister was working at the bar as a hostess.

Kim Seon-U told Cha Mi-Jo about her sister. Cha Mi-Jo also explained it to him from her point of view. Kim Seon-U bought a watch for his sister. He asked her friend where did she live. He left the watch in front of the door. Kim So-Won saw his message and looked for the gift. She then came to his clinic and invited him to have a lunch together. She told him that she had quit the job. She also expressed that she did not want to play piano anymore. Kim Seon-U felt heart broken when she mentioned that she was not belonged to the family.

Kim Seon-U asked Cha Mi-Jo whether should they introduced Cha Mi-Jo as his girlfriend to his sister. Cha Mi-Jo agreed with it and wanted to invite her to have dinner. Unfortunately, Kim Seon-U’s father stopped by the clinic. Kim So-Won was scared of him and wanted to leave right away. Cha Mi-Jo stopped her. Kim So-Won’s situation reminded Cha Mi-Jo of her old self.  Four of them were having dinner together. Kim Seon-U’s father teased Kim So-Won for making the environment uncomfortable for everyone. Then, Cha Mi-Jo mentioned that she was also an orphan. However, she has a wonderful adopted family who raised her pretty well. Kim So-Won left the restaurant right away.

Cha Mi-Jo tried to get her and brought her for second round. She mentioned about the children home. She asked her to come and visit the children home when she wanted to go. Kim So-Won went to the children home. She felt happy to be there.

Jeong Chan-Young wished to do a few things before she dies:

Cha Mi-Jo brought Jeong Chan-Young to visit her parent. Jeong Chan-Young still haven’t told her parent about her illness. She just brought some supplement and ate lunch with them. Jeong Chan-Young’s mother felt something strange about her daughter. She came to Seoul to visit her.

Kim Jin-Seok moved out from his house. He stayed at the hotel nearby Jeong Chan-Young’s house at the moment. One day, he decided to move into Jeong Chan-Young’s house. He never expected to see Jeong Chan-Young’s mother came to her house. Jeong Chan-Young’s mother was surprised to see him. She decided to cook a dinner for them.

Jang Joo-Hee quit her job. She called up Cha Mi-Jo and told her about it. She was angry when the customers scolded her for unreasonable excuses. She was frustrated and quit her job on the spot. Cha Mi-Jo was having a trip with Kim Seon-U. Kim Seon-U decided to returned to Seoul so that she can comfort her friend. Cha Mi-Jo and Jang Joo-Hee went to Jeong Chan-Young’s house as usual.

Jeong Chan-Young sent a text message to Cha Mi-Jo not to tell her mother about Kim Jin-Seok. However, Cha Mi-Jo left her phone in Kim Seon-U’ s car. She also invited him to come over. When the doorbell rang, Cha Mi-Jo thought he has come. She was surprised to see Kang Sun-Joo showed up in front of the door. Cha Mi-Jo dragged her out of the building and begged her to leave. She has no idea why Cha Mi-Jo did that. However, she left the place after seeing her kneed and begged her. Cha Mi-Jo then passed out on the floor. Kim Seon-U saw her and tried to wake her up.

Kim Seon-U brought her to hospital for treatment. After that, they went for camping together. Jeong Chan-Young wondered why she haven’t back. She asked Jeong Chan-Young to give Kim Seon-U a call. Kim Seon-U told them that Cha Mi-Jo was unwell, so they went for camping. Jeong Chan-Young felt strange to hear that. Jeong Chan-Young met up with Kim Seon-U. She regretted that she did not play golf with Cha Mi-Jo. She wanted to do something with her. Kim Seon-U played golf before and told her more about golfing.

Park Hyeon-Jun wanted to buy his girlfriend a present. He tried to call the store that Jang Joo-Hee used to work. He was shocked to hear that she had quit. Park Hyeon-Jun decided to held a party to celebrate Jang Joo-Hee’s resignation. He invited her friends to come over. Suddenly, Park Hyeon-Jun’s girlfriend showed up at the dinner. They had an argument over Park Hyeon-Jun did not accept the offer to work as a head chef in the hotel. Park Hyeon-Jun wanted to run his own business. He also hired Jang Joo-Hee as a part timer to work with him. Jang Joo-Hee worried that her mother might find out, so she begged him to keep the secret from her.

Jeong Chan-Young invited Cha Mi-Jo and Kim Seon-U to go for golfing. However, in the end of the day, she could not make it due to she has to attend an audition for new role. Jeong Chan-Young wanted to be remembered and do something that she loved before she passed away. The director liked her and accepted her.

Kim So-Won was staying at the children home with the orphanage director. The director asked her the reason why she did not want to go back to her home. She told her that her father wanted to disown her. She handed the money to the director so that she can give it back to Kim Seon-U’s father. The director invited Kim Seon-U to have a talk about his sister. She told him everything. Kim Seon-U was upset that his father did that to his sister.

Cha Mi-Jo saw her mother on the street. She asked about her biological mother. Cha Mi-Jo’s mother told her that she knew who was her biological mother. Cha Mi-Jo was surprised to hear that. She hugged her mother when her mother cried sadly. Cha Mi-Jo’s biological mother used to call her mother to ask about her condition. She was in prison at the moment.

Kim Jin-Seok wanted to divorce with Kang Sun-Joo. She then looked for Jeong Chan-Young’s parent. She went to their restaurant and told them about Jeong Chan-Young who was seeing her husband. Her parents were surprised to hear from her. Jeong Chan-Young called the 3 of three came to see her. They thought that she might know about Jeong Chan-Young’s illness. It turned out that she was angry towards her for dating with a married man. She also scolded Jang Joo-Hee and Cha Mi-Jo for keeping a secret from her. Then, Jeong Chan-Young tole her parents that she was terminally ill from her cancer. Her parents were surprised to hear that. Her parents bagged her to live with them, however, Jeong Chan-Young told them that she has a lot to do.

Jeong Chan-Young wanted to celebrate her mother’s birthday for the last time. She even bought a shoe for her. However, she suddenly having stomach pain. The salesperson sent her to hospital. By the time she woke up, she missed the time to collect the cake. She was in desperate. In order to get the cake, Cha Mi-Jo, Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee decided to break in and stole the cake. Jeong Chan-Young took the cake and went back home. Cha Mi-Jo and Jang Joo-Hee turned themselves in the police station. They explained to the owner that they had a reason to do so. Later, Jeong Chan-Young also came to the police station to apologise to the owner and she will pay for the damages.

Cha Mi-Jo told Kim Seon-U, Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee about her biological mother. she decided to pay a visit to her. She was uncomfortable to see her as her mother did not really care about her. She left the place after a short meeting. Cha Mi-Jo’s biological mother then made a call to someone to find out her workplace. Cha Mi-Jo wanted to tell her foster parents about the meeting, however, she was reluctant as she saw her mother hurt her arm and she thought that this was not the right time to tell them.

Kim Seon-U refused to meet Cha Mi-Jo’s parents. He was ashamed to meet them. He talked to his father that he will cut tie with him if he refused to apologise to Kim So-Won. He then met up with Kim So-Won and told her that he will be by her side whenever she needs. Cha Mi-Jo thought that Kim Seon-U was looking down at her. She argued with him. He apologized to her straight away that that was not what he thought.

Kim Seon-U’s father called up Cha Mi-Jo to leave his son. Cha Mi-Jo refused to do that too. Kim Seon-U prepared wedding rings and brought her to the beach. He proposed to her and she accepted it. Jang Joo-Hee’s mother gave her a large sum of money. She asked her to do whatever she wants with that money. Jang Joo-Hee was thinking of opening a shop.

Some strange guy came to Cha Mi-Jo’s clinic. He claimed that her mother has owe him something. Kim Seon-U saw something was not right. He barged into her office and asked him to leave. Cha Mi-Hyun also barged in as well. Cha Mi-Hyun met up with Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee at the Chinese restaurant. She wanted to find out what was going on with her sister. Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee told her about Cha Mi-Jo visited her biological mother at the prison.

Cha Mi-Jo talked to her foster mother was the meeting with her biological mother. Her foster mother already knew about her biological mother who was in prison. She waited her to ask about her biological mother. Her mother also told her that her biological mother has been asking money from them. Cha Mi-Jo felt embarrassed towards her.

Cha Mi-Jo came to see Jang Joo-Hee’s mother. she asked her whether did her mother also asked money from her. She did. Cha Mi-Jo expressed her gratitude to Jang Joo-Hee’s mother for keeping the secret for the sake of her for such a long time.

Cha Mi-Jo visited her mother at the prison. She spoke all the harsh words and wanted to cut tie with her mother. She will not visit her mother anymore. She also told Cha Mi-Hyun about it. Her sister was glad that she made the right choice.

Kim Jin-Seok proposed to Jeong Chan-Young. Jeong Chan-Young scolded him and did not accept his proposal. Jeong Chan-Young visited Kim Jin-Seok’s son. She gave him a storybook before he left to USA.  Kang Sun-Joo agreed to divorce and also asked Kim Jin-Seok to allow her to bring her son to USA with her. If she failed to take care of him, she will send him back to Kim Jin-Seok.

Jeong Chan-Young reserved a spot at the memorial hall. She came with Kim Jin-Seok. Her mother found about it. She cried alone and pretend to be fine after coming back from home. Jeong Chan-Young lied to her that she went together with her best friends. Jeong Chan-Young then told Cha Mi-Jo and Jang Joo-Hee about it. Cha Mi-Jo scolded her for thinking of death rather than thinking positive.

Jeong Chan-Young sold her studio and she get a large sum of money. She brought her parent to have a meal together at a luxury restaurant. She also begged her parent to do the renovation of their restaurant. However, her parent did not want to waste that kind of money. Jeong Chan-Young then asked Cha Mi-Jo for help. Cha Mi-Jo managed to persuade her parents to allow Jeong Chan-Young to do something for them. Jeong Chan-Young’s parents finally agreed with it.

Jeong Chan-Young took herself a portrait at the photography shop. She wanted to smile, but the photographer told her that taking ID photo should not be smiling. She told Cha Mi-Jo about it. Cha Mi-Jo then talked to Jang Joo-Hee. One day, Jang Joo-Hee invited Cha Mi-Jo and Jeong Chan-Young for outing. She borrowed a camera from Park Hyeon-Jun. she took a lot of beautiful pictures of Jeong Chan-Young who smiled happily.

Kim Seon-U was happy that his sister, Kim So-Won decided to play piano again. She even applied for a job at the orchestra. Kim Seon-U came to see Cha Mi-Jo and told her about it. He thanked her for encouraging his sister to play piano.

Cha Mi-Hyun invited Kim Seon-U to visit her parents. Kim Seon-U met up with Cha Mi-Jo’s father. He honestly told him about how his father perspective towards Cha Mi-Jo. Cha Mi-Jo’s father was not angry towards him. In fact, he hoped that they can continue their relationship without being affected by his father. Cha Mi-Jo’s parents welcomed Kim Seon-U to visit them. All of them was having a great moment.

Kim Seon-U, Kim Jin-Seok, Park Hyeon-Jun, Cha Mi-Jo, Jeong Chan-Young and Jang Joo-Hee came to Jeong Chan-Young’s parents’ restaurant to help out with the renovation. From time to time, Jeong Chan-Young also requested her accompany her parents during their birthday on her behalf. She also requested her to eat BBQ with Park Hyeon-Jun. She also asked her to bring her parents to do medical checkup.

Jeong Chan-Young’s condition has worsened. She was sent to the hospital for treatment. Jeong Chan-Young by past the funeral hall. She secretly entered the hall and saw the people sitting there eating. She drafted out a list of people whom she would like to have a meal with them. She passed the list to Cha Mi-Jo. Cha Mi-Jo turned the list into a brunch invitation. Jeong Chan-Young was really touched to meet her friends and family and have a meal with them.

Jeong Chan-Young did not marry with Kim Jin-Seok. However, they lived together. Jeong Chan-Young’s mother asked Kim Jin-Seok to take care of her. They decided to move back to hometown to carry out their business.

After Jeong Chan-Young passed away, Cha Mi-Jo, Jang Joo-Hee and Park Hyeon-Jun did what she requested before she passed away. They also watched her movie on the released date. Everyone was impressed with her acting.

Cha Mi-Jo was having a hard time after Jeong Chan-Young left. She felt sorry and struggling to live every day. She was surprised to receive a gift from Jeong Chan-Young. Before Jeong Chan-Young passed away, she asked Jang Joo-Hee give Jang Joo-Hee and Cha Mi-Jo a gift. She asked her to give Cha Mi-Jo when she was gone. Cha Mi-Jo watched a video of Jeong Chan-Young. She cried a lot because she missed her so much.

Cha Mi-Jo was preparing her wedding and Jang Joo-Hee was in serious relationship with Park Hyeon-Jun. She opened a nail shop in front of Park Hyeon-Jun’s restaurant. Cha Mi-Jo and Jang Joo-Hee visited Jeong Chan-Young every year. Although they still not used to the live without her, they still carry on with their lives. Cha Mi-Jo also adopted a child from the children home.
