Eugene Choi was once a slave for Kim
Hee-Sung’s family. He managed to run away to America whereas his parent died
while helping him to escape. Go Ae-Shin was a noble lady. She tried to protect
the people of Joseon to avoid foreign country from taking over the country.
After 30 years, Eugene Choi came back to Joseon. He was stationed as a legal
consult of America. He met Go Ae-Shin coincidently when both of them tried to
kill the America traitor. Eugene Choi was also a Captain of US Marine Cop. At
first, Go Ae-Shin did not like him because he was too misery and she did not
know his intention for coming to Joseon. After a couple of incidents happened,
they decided to become comrades.
Go Ae-Shin was the fiancée of Kim
Hee-Sung. However, she dislikes him very much. She wanted to break the
engagement. Kim Hee-Sung was staying next door to Eugene Choi at Glory Hotel.
Go Ae-Shin saved Goo Dong-Mae once
when he had trouble for getting out of the city. He was secretly in love with
her. Goo Dong-Mae always pay the people who has news about Go Ae-Shin. He was jealous
when he found out that she has a fiancée.
Hee-Na was the owner of Glory hotel. She is the daughter of Lee Wan-Ik. She
was also a widow of a Japanese. Her husband left a hotel for her. She was
jealous when Eugene Choi and Goo Dong-Mae only looked at Go Ae-Shin rather than
her. Goo Dong-Mae was a Japanese gangster who was paid to protect the hotel. Lee
Wan-Ik worked as an interpreter joined hands with US cop to betray Joseon.
However, due to their different perspective, he decided to join hand with Japanese
Emperor. Lee Wan-Ik came back from Japan. The Japanese Emperor gave him a
mission to take down Joseon.
Hwang Eun-San aided Eugene Choi to escape from salve hunters. He was the head of
Righteous Army. He makes valuable pottery and sells it to government officer
and foreigner. He later realized that Eugene Choi was the boy that he once
saved.
Go Sa-Hong was the grandfather of Go
Ae-Shin. He lost his son and daughter-in-law when Lee Wan-Ik kills them. Go
Sa-Hong tried to stop Go Ae-Shin from reading newspaper and avoid her from
involving in political affair. However, she did not want to. Go Sa-Hong asked Jang
Seung-Goo to be her mentor to teach her some technique for surviving. Jang Seung-Goo was a gunner. He trains Go
Ae-Shin how to shoot the gun.
Eugene Choi saves Go Ae-Shin many
times as she was too rush to act. He has no choice but using his American
identity to cover up her reckless act. Go Ae-Shin was interested to learn
English. She attended English class secretly. She started to fall in love with
him.
Eugene Choi wanted to revenge
against Kim Hee-Sung’s family for killing his parents and made his life
miserable. Eugene Choi asked them to look for his parent grave. He found his
parents grave above the hill. He later changed his mind for killing Kim
Hee-Sung’s family. Kim Hee-Sung wondered why he hates him so much. He realized
that his parents hide the incident from him. He tried to find it out.
The Japanese soldier was dragging
one of the Geisha in the street who was actually a Joseon lady. Go Ae-Shin shot
at his leg in order to save the lady. Eugene Choi afraid that her identity
might be exposed. He covered up her by shoot his own hand. Go Ae-Shin felt
sorry for him for helping her out. Jang Seung-Goo also sought help from him to
assist the Geisha to escape from Joseon.
Go Ae-Shin and her comrades tried to
fool Goo Dong-Mae in order to help that Geisha escaped to Shanghai. She was
shot by him. He also able to recognize Go Ae-Shin although she wore suit at
that time. The king met Eugene Choi to ask his opinion regarding America side
which country. Eugene Choi told the King that he was a mere soldier who did not
involve in politic in English. However, the interpreter twisted his words. Eugene
Choi told the Minister Lee Jung-Moon
about the interpreter’s wrong doings. The minister Lee
interrogated the interpreter and killed him. Eugene Choi tried to frame the
Minister of Foreign Affair with the secret document that the Joseon King was
looking for. At night, he was being attacked by Eugene Choi and Jang Seung-Goo
with gunshot. He was later being charged with high treason for keeping the
secret document of the King. Eugene Choi managed to take his revenge for his
parent sake.
Eugene Choi confessed to her that he
was actually from the lowest class of Joseon. Go Ae-Shin was shocked about his
true identity. Minister Lee was doubt about Eugene Choi’s intention to help
Joseon. He asked Hee-Na about him.
Go Ae-Shin realized that Eugene Choi
was unable to read Korean words. However, he kept learning from the little
Korean boy. In return, he also taught the boy how to read and write English.
Go Ae-Shin and Hee-Na sneaked into Lee
Wan-Ik’s house. Hee Na stole the autopsy report of her father from her father.
She did not want him to threaten her about her husband death. Go Ae-Shin stole
some document from him. one of the documents written with Eugene Choi name.
Go Ae-Shin asked Eugene Choi about
what the letter is about. Eugene Choi told her that it was written by his
godfather. He told her about his past and how his godfather helped him to
survive in America.
Eugene Choi found a photo that was
related to Go Ae-Shin’s father. He asked her whether she recognized any man
from that photo. It happened to know that one of the men in the photo betrayed
her father. And that man attacked Eugene Choi in his room. Lee Wan-Ik pressured
one of the American superiors to release the man who caught by Eugene Choi. He
has no choice but to follow the orders.
Eugene Choi and Go Ae-Shin exchange
letters with one another. Eugene Choi told her that he was glad that many
people has helped him. One day, he received a letter from his godfather, Joseph.
He was happy about it. However, someone informed him about the news on the
death of his godfather. It was believed that he was being attacked by the
Japanese.
Go Ae-Shin’s grandfather came to
meet Kim Hee-Sung. He asked him about their marriage. Kim Hee-Sung lied to him
that he disliked Go Ae-Shin. Her grandfather seems to know his granddaughter
pretty well. He knew that it was his Go Ae-Shin who mistreated him. However, Go
Ae-Shin’s grandfather requested him to protect Go Ae-Shin. Go Ae-Shin’s
grandfather wrote many secret letters to all his people about his plan to protect
the Korean people. However, that letters have been destroyed by Lee Wan-Ik.
Goo Dong-Mae coordinate informed him
that an American was killed in their territory. Goo Dong-Mae was sent to the
Police station in order to protect his men from questioning. Eugene Choi
believed that Lee Wan-Ik was the one who behind it. He also believed that Goo
Dong-Mae was innocent. Goo Dong-Mae was tortured by the Japanese police and
they pressured him to reveal Go Ae-Shin’s grandfather name before they released
his men. He did not want to confess that. While they were pressuring him to
confess, Eugene Choi stepped in and took him away from the Japanese police.
Lee Wan-Ik stole the letter from
Joseph. The letter stated a deal between America and Joseon. Lee Wan-Ik used
this letter to threaten the King of Joseon. He wanted the King to give him the
position as Minister of Foreign Affair. He joined hand with Japanese government and
betrayed Joseon for his own sake.
Go Ae-Shin saw how sadly was Eugene
Choi. She can’t even go out to meet him. One day, she sneaked into Eugene
Choi’s room. She apologized to him that she was unable to console him at the
first place. Suddenly, a Righteous Army’s member attacked Eugene Choi. Eugene Choi
asked Go Ae-Shin to leave his room. With the help of Hee Na, she managed to
leave the place safely. When Hee Na was being threatened by a Japanese soldier.
Go Ae-Shin helped her out.
Eugene Choi realized that the
documents that he found in Room 205 went missing. He interrogated Righteous
Army’s member why he tried to kill him. He told him that he knew too much
secret about their plan. They afraid that he might ruined their plan.
Therefore, the Righteous Army decided to kill him. Eugene Choi knew that
Righteous Army leader was life saver. He decided to meet him up. On the other
hand, the Righteous Army leader demanded to meet Go Ae-Shin. He ordered her to
kill Eugene Choi.
Go Ae-Shin hide in the forest and
aimed at Eugene Choi. When Eugene Choi met with the Righteous Army leader, he
was disappointed with Righteous Army leader who wished to kill him. he handled
the culprit who killed his godfather to him. He also did not kill the Righteous
Army member. He hoped that the Righteous Army leader can live a long live and Go
Ae-Shin can be safety. He then left the place. The Righteous Army leader was
ashamed to himself that he should not treat him that way.
Go Sa-Hong decided to let Go Ae-Shin
to marry with her fiancé. Kim Hee-Sung
saw the wedding offer letter from his servant. He quickly went to Go Ae-Shin ‘s
house. He saw her kneeing in front of the house. He told her to trust him that
he will break the engagement as she wanted. She was thankful that he did that. Kim
Hee-Sung met Eugene Choi coincidently at the Glory Hotel. He told him that he
knew about the truth but he won’t apologized. The owner of the Glory Hotel told
Eugene Choi that the letter that Kim Hee-Sung hold in hand was the engagement
letter. Eugene Choi felt disappointed that he forgot about their engagement.
He did not receive any letter from Go
Ae-Shin as she was being locked at home. She told her grandfather that she has
someone in her heart. Her grandfather verified it with her servant. He was
angry that she disgraced the family reputation. The servants asked Eugene Choi
to come over her house to explain it with her grandfather. He came and
confessed that he had feeling for Go Ae-Shin. He also told him that they were
once met in the forest. Go Sa-Hong were surprised that Go Ae-Shin was in love
with the slave. He was against them and did not allow them to be together.
Goo Dong-Mae found out that the
letter that Go Sa-Hong wrote did not deliver. He told him about it. Go Ae-Shin
was worried about them. She requested the Hee Na to ask Goo Dong-Mae the reason
why he met her grandfather. Eugene Choi finally accepted the offer from the
King to in charge of the Royal Military Academy. The King was relieved about it
as he was afraid that the Japanese was trying to take over their country.
Kim Hee-Sung talked to his parent
regarding cancellation of engagement. He also officially broken the engagement
with Go Ae-Shin. Kim Hee-Sung’s mother thought that Eugene Choi told her son
about what happened in the past. Eugene Choi came to visit her and told her
that her son found out himself. He was not going to accept her apologized for
her past mistake, but he will not let her son to pay her sin as well. He hoped
that he can get along and move forward with Kim Hee-Sung.
Kim Hee-Sung also requested his
parent to allow him to open up his business as an editor. Hee Na met Go Ae-Shin
and told her the reason why Goo Dong-Mae met her grandfather. Hee Na also found
out that one of the guests in her hotel was related to her fencing instructor.
She decided to stop getting lesson from the instructor when he tried to sexual
harass her. Hee Na also decided not to find her mother anymore because Lee
Jung-Moon had found her.
Go Sa-Hong gathered all the scholars
to go against the King for not protecting the country well. The Japanese
government was pressuring Lee Wan-Ik to do something about it before it was too
late. Jang Seung-Goo and Eugene Choi were being kidnapped by Lee Jung-Moon and
threatened Jang Seung-Goo to become the Royal Security Guard. Eugene Choi knew
the enemy of Jang Seung-Goo was the King. However, he did not tell Lee
Jung-Moon about it.
Goo Dong-Mae was being attacked by
someone. Kim Hee-Sung came over and asked the people to inform his men and sent
him to the hospital for treatment. The Japanese soldiers came to Go Sa-Hong’s
house. All the people that was related to the English school was being
investigated. Go Ae-Shin spoke and asked the Japanese soldiers to leave the
place. However, the soldiers did not listen to her and decided to take her
away. Before they did, Eugene Choi brought his soldiers entered Go Sa-Hong’s
compound. He realized that it was his Japanese friend, Takashi Mori who he met in
America. Takashi Mori wanted to take over the colony of Joseon.
Takashi Mori took the music from Go
Ae-Shin room. He knew that it was belong to Eugene Choi. He asked someone to
requested her to come to the hotel to take back her that thing. She refused to
admit that she has lost something from her room. He then met Eugene Choi and
told him about the music box in her room. Eugene Choi also denied that it was
belong to him. One day, Eugene Choi sneaked into Takashi Mori’s room. He found
a piece of paper wrote the name list. He memorized and re-wrote them.
Goo Dong-Mae was alive. Hee-Na once
told him the doctor was her father’s people. He asked him men to stay by his
side while the doctor operate him. Hee-Na also came to the hospital to threaten
the doctor not to act recklessly. She visited Goo Dong-Mae. Hee-Na was
surprised when her father admitted that he killed Go Ae-Shin’s parents. She
felt ashamed and guilty towards her.
The Righteous Army leader escaped to
other places. Takashi Mori knew that Righteous Army tried to go against with
the Japanese. They tried to locate them and killed him. Lee Wan-Ik made a scene
at Go Sa-Hong’s house. He decided to build a train for the Japanese. He wanted
to destroyed Go Sa-Hong’s house which he tried to make to suffer to dead. Go
Sa-Hong managed to stop Go Ae-Shin to pick up the gun. He locked her up. He
also distributed his land to the farmers and urged them to protect them from
being owned by foreigner. Besides, he also sought help from Goo Dong-Mae and
Eugene Choi to protect Go Ae-Shin. He then passed away.
Go family held a funeral for Go
Sa-Hong. The King also paid his respect to Go Sa-Hong. He hit Lee Wan-Ik when
he was rude to him and Go Sa-Hong. Lee Wan-Ik again caused a fuse at their
house. After that day, Go Ae-Shin was missing. During the 49th day, the
Japanese soldiers came to the temple and killed the Go family. Luckily, the Righteous
Army team and Go Ae-Shin attacked the soldiers in order to save her family
members.
Takashi Mori and Musin Society joined
hand to kidnap Lee Jung-Moon in order to threaten the King of Joseon. Musin
Society was in charged by Goo Dong-Mae in Hanseong. He was surprised that his
boss came to Joseon. He did not know his boss intention but he knew that he has
lost favour of his boss.
Go Ae-Shin met Eugene Choi to say
goodbye to him. She wanted to stop dating with him because she was not in the
situation that is suitable for them to talk about love. She wanted to focus on
fighting the right of the people. Go Ae-Shin also paid her debt to Goo Dong-Mae.
When Goo Dong-Mae realized that she was still alive, he quickly came to the
sense that she was going to kill Lee Wan-Ik who caused her grandfather died.
One night, she killed Lee Wan-Ik before Goo Dong-Mae and Eugene Choi managed to
stop her. Hee-Na heard the gunshot sound from her father residence. She saw her
father lying down with blood. She called the Japanese doctor to come over and
put the blame on him. She created the scene whereby the doctor killed her
father and yet killed himself at the scene. Go Ae-Shin stole the music box from
Takashi Mori and returned it back to Eugene Choi.
The Righteous Army made their
arrangement to Japan to rescue Lee Jung-Moon. Go Ae-Shin sought help from Eugene
Choi. Eugene Choi was being transferred back to America soon. He asked Go
Ae-Shin to come with him. She did not want to because she still has mission to
carry out. He forged the marriage certificate so that she can used a new
identity to land in Japan. Eugene Choi killed Takashi Mori. Go Ae-Shin and her
comrades rescued Lee Jung-Moon.
Go Ae-Shin was unable to go back to
Joseon because Goo Dong-Mae’s lady informed his boss about Go Ae-Shin’s
whereabout. The Musin Society members were everywhere in Japan looking for her.
Luckily, Eugene Choi did not depart yet. He rescued her from being chased by
them. They quickly went to America legislation to seek for protection. Due to
Eugene Choi misconduct, he was being caught and sent back to America whereas
Kyle helped Go Ae-Shin to escape from the America legislation. Eugene Choi was being sentenced to prison for
3 years. Goo Dong-Mae came to Japan to protect Go Ae-Shin as well. Go Ae-Shin
sent a telegram to Kim Hee-Sung to seek for help. Hee-Na informed the King
about it and the King came out of the plan to bring her back. Kim Hee-Sung sent
someone to tell Goo Dong-Mae about the plan to help Go Ae-Shin to escape from
Japan.
Go Ae-Shin came back to Joseon
safely. Goo Dong-Mae unable to escape the Musin Society. They sent many men to
kill him. He was injured and fell into the sea. Goo Dong-Mae informed his men
before he went to Japan that they will disband the Musin Society in Hanseong if
he was unable to return within a month. Hee Na was upset when she was informed
about the disband of Musin Society in Hanseong. She knew something has happened
to Goo Dong-Mae.
3 years later, Goo Dong-Mae was
still alive but he stayed hidden in the country. Eugene Choi was just released
from the prison. He was no longer become the solider of America. He decided to
went back to Joseon to visit his fellow there. The King of Joseon was being
threatened to give up his throne and let the Japanese to rule the country. Japanese
soldiers were everywhere in the country. Many people were killed by the Japanese
soldiers if they disobey their order. Hee Na and Go Ae-Shin placed the bomb in
the Glory Hotel to kill the soldiers. Goo Dong-Mae and Eugene Choi were shocked
to see that happened. They quickly rescued both of them. Since many Japanese
soldiers and Joseon people were injured, the hospital was full of patients. The
Japanese soldiers killed the Joseon people so that the nurses and doctors can
treatment their people first.
Hee Na was unfortunate that she
passed away due to serious injury. Go Ae-Shin was lucky that she survived from
the incident. Goo Dong-Mae killed the Musin Society members who took away his
place in Hanseong. Go Ae-Shin’s brother-in-law was shocked to heard the news. Jang
Seung-Goo tried to protect the people of the country. He sacrificed himself in
order to create path for the young soldiers to escape from the Japanese. Go
Ae-Shin was upset to find out that her master died. Eugene Choi came to see Go
Ae-Shin. She was happy to see him. Eugene Choi promised Go Ae-Shin that he will
protect her and she will protect her home country. Go Ae-Shin’s brother-in-law
was pro-Japanese. He revealed to the Japanese soldiers about the Righteous Army
members. He recognized that Go Ae-Shin was part of them. Eugene Choi’s English
interpreter informed him about the matter when he had the conversation with the
Japanese interpreter. Eugene Choi informed the Righteous Army leader about it.
The Righteous Army decided to leave their base to avoid the Japanese soldiers
to trace them. They also distracted the Japanese soldiers with a few members so
that the rest can escape safely.
Hwang Eun-San requested Eugene Choi
to buy a train tickets for them for the young, women, and children to escape to
Manchuria in order to continue their fight. The Righteous Army also found out
that there was a spy in their group. They managed to find out and killed him. Since
their base has been exposed, they decided to move to another place.
Goo Dong-Mae was not very well. Go
Ae-Shin offered to help him but he refused. He has unfinished business with the
Musin Society. They killed his loyal sub-coordinate. He tried to kill them all
but unfortunately, he was unsuccessful. The Musin Society tied his hand and
dragged him all over the place.
Kim Hee-Sung became the reporter to
report about the news regarding what happened in Joseon. The Japanese was aware
of this publisher but they could not find the name of it because he never named
his company. The Japanese banned all the newspaper company so that they could
not report news about what happened in Joseon and also to avoid any party to
rescue them. Kim Hee-Sung distributed his paper during at night. He wanted to
let the people to read the newspaper in order to encourage them to fight
against the Japanese. He knew that he will be in danger, therefore he asked his
staffs to leave his company. He also buried his photos and other evidence so
that others managed to find it if they dig the soil. As soon as he hidden his
articles and evidences, the Japanese soldiers found him and interrogated him. The
Japanese hit him until he death.
Kyle sent a reporter to Eugene Choi.
The English reporter wanted to cover the news about the Righteous Army. Go
Ae-Shin allowed him to interview them so that the world know what is going on
in Joseon and at the same time sought help from them.
Hwang Eun-San divided the Righteous
Army into a few platoons. He also let Eugene Choi to join them. Eugene Choi and
Go Ae-Shin went to Manchuria by train with the young, women and children whereas
the elder and men took the land route. They disgusted themselves as Japanese,
English and Joseon. One of the platoons has been attacked by the Japanese
soldiers. Hwang Eun-San and his team came for rescue. However, there are too
many Japanese soldiers surrounded them. They are lack of weapon and manpower. They
knew that they will lose, however, they decided to fight until the end.
The Japanese soldiers were also looking for
the Righteous Army in the train. Go Ae-Shin and her comrades knew that they were
in great trouble if the train did not move at once. Eugene Choi heard about the
conversation between the Japanese that they were going to kill Righteous Army
in the train. He was unable to enter the train because the Japanese soldiers
were there to check every each of their clothes and he was carrying a gun in
his cloth. There was a Japanese businessman wanted to get the train to discuss
about the business. Eugene Choi took this opportunity to get closer to him. he
successfully got into the train. He realized that he only has 1 bullet in his
gun. He quickly went to the premium class train to held that businessman as
hostage.
The Japanese soldiers found Go
Ae-Shin and they started to attack one another. Before the Japanese soldiers were
going to kill Go Ae-Shin and her comrades, Eugene Choi came with that hostage. He
moved the Japanese soldiers to another passenger car and used his last bullet
to disconnect the passenger car so that he can saved Go Ae-Shin and others. Go
Ae-Shin cried so hard as she witnessed the death of Eugene Choi.
The English interpreter wrote a
letter to Kyle regarding the death of Eugene Choi and requested him to let them
bury him at the foreigner cemetery. Kyle was upset to heard about the news. Go
Ae-Shin and her comrades managed to escape to Manchuria safely. 2 years later, Go
Ae-Shin trained the young to fight against the Japanese.
